in a cave

בַּמְּעָרָ֖ה

at Makkedah

בְּמַקֵּדָֽה׃

said

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר

And Joshua

יְהוֹשֻׁ֔עַ

Roll

גֹּ֛לּוּ

stones

אֲבָנִ֥ים

great

גְּדֹל֖וֹת

 

אֶל

upon the mouth

פִּ֣י

of the cave

הַמְּעָרָ֑ה

עֶגְלֹ֑נָה

וַֽיִּלְכְּד֜וּהָ

הַהוּא֙

וַיַּכּ֣וּהָ

it with the edge

לְפִי

of the sword

חֶ֔רֶב

 

וְאֵת֙

 

כָּל

and all the souls

הַנֶּ֣פֶשׁ

 

אֲשֶׁר

 

בָּ֔הּ

it on that day

בַּיּ֥וֹם

 

הַה֖וּא

that were therein he utterly destroyed

הֶֽחֱרִ֑ים

 

כְּכֹ֥ל

 

אֲשֶׁר

according to all that he had done

עָשָׂ֖ה

to Lachish

לְלָכִֽישׁ׃

went up

וַיַּ֣עַל

And Joshua

יְ֠הוֹשֻׁעַ

and all Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵ֥ל

 

עִמּ֛וֹ

from Eglon

מֵֽעֶגְל֖וֹנָה

with him unto Hebron

חֶבְר֑וֹנָה

and they fought

וַיִּֽלָּחֲמ֖וּ

 

עָלֶֽיהָ׃

And they took

וַיִּלְכְּד֣וּהָ

it and smote

וַיַּכּֽוּהָ

it with the edge

לְפִי

of the sword

דְּבִ֑רָה

וַיִּלָּ֖חֶם

And he took

הִשְׁאִ֖יר

הַנְּשָׁמָה֙

but utterly destroyed

הֶֽחֱרִ֔ים

commanded

צִוָּ֔ה

as the LORD

יְהוָ֖ה

אֱלֹהֵ֥י

of Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
