דִּבַּ֥רְתִּי

 

אֲלֵיכֶ֖ם

unto you by the hand

בְּיַד

of Moses

מֹשֶֽׁה׃

may flee

לָנ֥וּס

 

שָׁ֙מָּה֙

That the slayer

רוֹצֵ֔חַ

that killeth

מַכֵּה

any person

נֶ֥פֶשׁ

unawares

בִּשְׁגָגָ֖ה

 

בִּבְלִי

and unwittingly

דָ֑עַת

 

וְהָי֤וּ

 

לָכֶם֙

thither and they shall be your refuge

לְמִקְלָ֔ט

from the avenger

מִגֹּאֵ֖ל

of blood

הַדָּֽם׃

And when he that doth flee

וְנָ֞ס

 

אֶל

unto one

אַחַ֣ת׀

him into the city

הָעִ֙ירָה֙

 

הָאֵ֗לֶּה

shall stand

וְעָמַד֙

at the entering

פֶּ֚תַח

of the gate

שַׁ֣עַר

him into the city

הָעִ֙ירָה֙

and shall declare

וְדִבֶּ֛ר

in the ears

בְּאָזְנֵ֛י

of the elders

זִקְנֵ֥י

him into the city

הָעִ֙ירָה֙

 

הַהִ֖יא

 

אֶת

his cause

דְּבָרָ֑יו

they shall take

וְאָֽסְפ֨וּ

 

אֹת֤וֹ

him into the city

הָעִ֙ירָה֙

 

אֲלֵיהֶ֔ם

unto them and give

וְנָֽתְנוּ

 

ל֥וֹ

him a place

מָק֖וֹם

that he may dwell

וְיָשַׁ֥ב

 

עִמָּֽם׃

 

וְכִ֨י

pursue

יִרְדֹּ֜ף

And if the avenger

גֹּאֵ֤ל

of blood

הַדָּם֙

after

אַֽחֲרָ֔יו

 

וְלֹֽא

him then they shall not deliver

יַסְגִּ֥רוּ

 

אֶת

the slayer

הָֽרֹצֵ֖חַ

up into his hand

בְּיָד֑וֹ

 

כִּ֤י

unwittingly

בִבְלִי

 

דַ֙עַת֙

because he smote

הִכָּ֣ה

 

אֶת

his neighbour

רֵעֵ֔הוּ

 

וְלֹֽא

and hated

שֹׂנֵ֥א

 

ה֛וּא

 

ל֖וֹ

him not beforetime

מִתְּמ֥וֹל

 

שִׁלְשֽׁוֹם׃

And he shall dwell

וְיָשַׁ֣ב׀

in that city

הָעִ֖יר

 

הַהִ֗יא

 

עַד

until he stand

עָמְד֞וֹ

before

לִפְנֵ֤י

the congregation

הָֽעֵדָה֙

for judgment

לַמִּשְׁפָּ֔ט

 

עַד

and until the death

מוֹת֙

priest

הַכֹּהֵ֣ן

of the high

הַגָּד֔וֹל

that

אֲשֶׁר

 

יִֽהְיֶ֖ה

shall be in those days

בַּיָּמִ֣ים

 

הָהֵ֑ם

 

אָ֣ז׀

return

יָשׁ֣וּב

then shall the slayer

הָֽרוֹצֵ֗חַ

and come

וּבָ֤א

 

אֶל

in that city

הָעִ֖יר

 

וְאֶל

and unto his own house

בֵּית֔וֹ

 

אֶל

in that city

הָעִ֖יר

that

אֲשֶׁר

from whence he fled

נָ֥ס

 

מִשָּֽׁם׃

And they appointed

וַיַּקְדִּ֜שׁוּ

Kedesh

קֶ֤דֶשׁ

in Galilee

בַּגָּלִיל֙

in mount

בְּהַ֥ר

Naphtali

נַפְתָּלִ֔י

 

וְאֶת

and Shechem

שְׁכֶ֖ם

in mount

בְּהַ֥ר

Ephraim

אֶפְרָ֑יִם

 

וְאֶת

 

קִרְיַ֥ת

and Kirjatharba

אַרְבַּ֛ע

 

הִ֥יא

which is Hebron

חֶבְר֖וֹן

in mount

בְּהַ֥ר

of Judah

יְהוּדָֽה׃

And on the other side

וּמֵעֵ֜בֶר

Jordan

לְיַרְדֵּ֤ן

by Jericho

יְרִיחוֹ֙

eastward

מִזְרָ֔חָה

they assigned

נָֽתְנ֞וּ

 

אֶת

Bezer

בֶּ֧צֶר

in the wilderness

בַּמִּדְבָּ֛ר

upon the plain

בַּמִּישֹׁ֖ר

out of the tribe

מִמַּטֵּ֥ה

of Reuben

רְאוּבֵ֑ן

 

וְאֶת

and Ramoth

רָאמֹ֤ת

in Gilead

בַּגִּלְעָד֙

out of the tribe

מִמַּטֵּ֥ה

of Gad

גָ֔ד

 

וְאֶת

and Golan

גּלָ֥וֹן

in Bashan

בַּבָּשָׁ֖ן

out of the tribe

מִמַּטֵּ֥ה

of Manasseh

מְנַשֶּֽׁה׃

 

אֵ֣לֶּה

 

הָיוּ֩

These were the cities

עָרֵ֨י

appointed

הַמּֽוּעָדָ֜ה

 

לְכֹ֣ל׀

for all the children

בְּנֵ֣י

of Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל

and for the stranger

וְלַגֵּר֙

that sojourneth

הַגָּ֣ר

among

בְּתוֹכָ֔ם

might flee

לָנ֣וּס

 

שָׁ֔מָּה

 

כָּל

them that whosoever killeth

מַכֵּה

any person

נֶ֖פֶשׁ

at unawares

בִּשְׁגָגָ֑ה

 

וְלֹ֣א

thither and not die

יָמ֗וּת

by the hand

בְּיַד֙

of the avenger

גֹּאֵ֣ל

of blood

הַדָּ֔ם

 

עַד

until he stood

עָמְד֖וֹ

before
