זָקֵ֔ן

and stricken

בָּ֖א

in age

בַּיָּמִֽים׃

called

וַיִּקְרָ֤א

And Joshua

יְהוֹשֻׁ֙עַ֙

 

לְכָל

for all Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל

and for their elders

לִזְקֵנָיו֙

and for their heads

וּלְרָאשָׁ֔יו

and for their judges

וּלְשֹֽׁפְטָ֖יו

and for their officers

וּלְשֹֽׁטְרָ֑יו

and said

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר

 

אֲלֵהֶ֔ם

 

אֲנִ֣י

unto them I am old

זָקַ֔נְתִּי

and stricken

בָּ֖אתִי

in age

בַּיָּמִֽים׃

 

וְאַתֶּ֣ם

And ye have seen

רְאִיתֶ֗ם

 

אֵת֩

 

כָּל

 

אֲשֶׁ֨ר

hath done

עָשָׂ֜ה

all that the LORD

יְהוָ֣ה

your God

אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶ֔ם

 

לְכָל

unto all these nations

הַגּוֹיִ֥ם

 

הָאֵ֖לֶּה

because

מִפְּנֵיכֶ֑ם

 

כִּ֚י

all that the LORD

יְהוָ֣ה

your God

אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶ֔ם

 

ה֖וּא

is he that hath fought

הַנִּלְחָ֥ם

 

לָכֶֽם׃

Behold

רְאוּ֩

I have divided

הִפַּ֨לְתִּי

 

לָכֶ֜ם

 

אֶֽת

unto you by lot these nations

הַגּוֹיִם֙

that remain

הַנִּשְׁאָרִ֥ים

 

הָאֵ֛לֶּה

to be an inheritance

בְּנַֽחֲלָ֖ה

for your tribes

לְשִׁבְטֵיכֶ֑ם

 

מִן

from Jordan

הַיַּרְדֵּ֗ן

 

וְכָל

unto you by lot these nations

הַגּוֹיִם֙

 

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

that I have cut off

הִכְרַ֔תִּי

sea

וְהַיָּ֥ם

even unto the great

הַגָּד֖וֹל

westward

מְב֥וֹא

 

הַשָּֽׁמֶשׁ׃

And the LORD

יְהוָ֥ה

your God

אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶ֖ם

 

ה֚וּא

he shall expel

יֶהְדֳּפֵ֣ם

them from before

מִלִּפְנֵיכֶ֑ם

and ye shall possess

וִֽירִשְׁתֶּם֙

 

אֹתָ֖ם

them from before

מִלִּפְנֵיכֶ֑ם

and ye shall possess

וִֽירִשְׁתֶּם֙

 

אֶת

their land

אַרְצָ֔ם

 

כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֥ר

hath promised

דִּבֶּ֛ר

And the LORD

יְהוָ֥ה

your God

אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶ֖ם

 

לָכֶֽם׃

courageous

וַֽחֲזַקְתֶּ֣ם

Be ye therefore very

מְאֹ֔ד

to keep

לִשְׁמֹ֣ר

and to do

וְלַֽעֲשׂ֔וֹת

 

אֵ֚ת

 

כָּל

all that is written

הַכָּת֔וּב

in the book

בְּסֵ֖פֶר

of the law

תּוֹרַ֣ת

of Moses

מֹשֶׁ֑ה

 

לְבִלְתִּ֥י

that ye turn

סוּר

 

מִמֶּ֖נּוּ

not aside therefrom to the right hand

יָמִ֥ין

or to the left

וּשְׂמֹֽאול׃

 

לְבִלְתִּי

That ye come

בוֹא֙

not among these nations

בַּגּוֹיִ֣ם

 

הָאֵ֔לֶּה

these that remain

הַנִּשְׁאָרִ֥ים

 

הָאֵ֖לֶּה

 

אִתְּכֶ֑ם

of the name

וּבְשֵׁ֨ם

of their gods

אֱלֹֽהֵיהֶ֤ם

 

לֹֽא

among you neither make mention

תַזְכִּ֙ירוּ֙

 

וְלֹ֣א

nor cause to swear

תַשְׁבִּ֔יעוּ

 

וְלֹ֣א

by them neither serve

תַֽעַבְד֔וּם

 

וְלֹ֥א

them nor bow

תִֽשְׁתַּחֲו֖וּ

 

לָהֶֽם׃

 

כִּ֛י

 

אִם

unto the LORD

בַּֽיהוָ֥ה

your God

אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶ֖ם

But cleave

תִּדְבָּ֑קוּ

 

כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֣ר

as ye have done

עֲשִׂיתֶ֔ם

 

עַ֖ד

unto this day

הַיּ֥וֹם

 

הַזֶּֽה׃

hath driven out

וַיּ֤וֹרֶשׁ

For the LORD

יְהוָה֙

before

בִּפְנֵיכֶ֔ם

nations

גּוֹיִ֖ם

you great

גְּדֹלִ֣ים

and strong

וַֽעֲצוּמִ֑ים

 

וְאַתֶּ֗ם

 

לֹא

hath been able to stand

עָ֤מַד

but as for you no man

אִישׁ֙

before

בִּפְנֵיכֶ֔ם

 

עַ֖ד

you unto this day

הַיּ֥וֹם

 

הַזֶּֽה׃

man

אִישׁ

אֶחָ֥ד

 

מִכֶּ֖ם

of you shall chase

יִרְדָּף

a thousand

אָ֑לֶף

 

כִּ֣י׀

for the LORD

יְהוָ֣ה

your God

אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶ֗ם

 

ה֚וּא

he it is that fighteth

הַנִּלְחָ֣ם

 

לָכֶ֔ם

 

כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֖ר

for you as he hath promised

דִּבֶּ֥ר

 

לָכֶֽם׃

heed

וְנִשְׁמַרְתֶּ֥ם

Take good

מְאֹ֖ד

therefore unto yourselves

לְנַפְשֹֽׁתֵיכֶ֑ם

that ye love

לְאַֽהֲבָ֖ה

 

אֶת

the LORD

יְהוָ֥ה

your God

אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶֽם׃

 

כִּ֣י׀

 

אִם

Else if ye do in any wise

תָּשׁ֗וּבוּ

Else if ye do in any wise

תָּשׁ֗וּבוּ

and cleave

וּדְבַקְתֶּם֙

unto the remnant

בְּיֶ֙תֶר֙

of these nations

הַגּוֹיִ֣ם

 

הָאֵ֔לֶּה

even these that remain

הַנִּשְׁאָרִ֥ים

 

הָאֵ֖לֶּה

 

אִתְּכֶ֑ם

among you and shall make marriages

וְהִֽתְחַתַּנְתֶּ֥ם

 

בָּהֶ֛ם

with them and go in

וּבָאתֶ֥ם

 

בָּהֶ֖ם

 

וְהֵ֥ם

 

בָּכֶֽם׃

Know

תֵּֽדְע֔וּ

Know

תֵּֽדְע֔וּ

 

כִּי֩

 

לֹ֨א

will no more

יוֹסִ֜יף

that the LORD

יְהוָ֖ה

your God

אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶֽם׃

drive out

לְהוֹרִ֛ישׁ

 

אֶת

any of these nations

הַגּוֹיִ֥ם

 

הָאֵ֖לֶּה

from before

מִלִּפְנֵיכֶ֑ם

 

וְהָי֨וּ

 

לָכֶ֜ם

you but they shall be snares

לְפַ֣ח

and traps

וּלְמוֹקֵ֗שׁ

unto you and scourges

וּלְשֹׁטֵ֤ט

in your sides

בְּצִדֵּיכֶם֙

and thorns

וְלִצְנִנִ֣ים

in your eyes

בְּעֵֽינֵיכֶ֔ם

 

עַד

until ye perish

אֲבָדְכֶ֗ם

 

מֵ֠עַל

land

הָֽאֲדָמָ֤ה

from off this good

הַטּוֹבָה֙

 

הַזֹּ֔את

 

אֲשֶׁר֙

hath given

נָתַ֣ן

 

לָכֶ֔ם

that the LORD

יְהוָ֖ה

your God

אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶֽם׃

 

וְהִנֵּ֨ה

 

אָֽנֹכִ֤י

I am going

הוֹלֵךְ֙

And behold this day

הַיּ֔וֹם

the way

בְּדֶ֖רֶךְ

 

כָּל

of all the earth

הָאָ֑רֶץ

and ye know

וִֽידַעְתֶּ֞ם

 

בְּכָל

in all your hearts

לְבַבְכֶ֣ם

 

וּבְכָל

and in all your souls

נַפְשְׁכֶ֗ם

 

כִּ֣י

 

לֹֽא

hath failed

נָפַ֥ל

thing

דָּבָ֥ר

that not one

אֶחָֽד׃

 

מִכֹּ֣ל׀

thing

דָּבָ֥ר

of all the good

הַטּוֹבִ֗ים

 

אֲשֶׁ֨ר

spake

דִּבֶּ֜ר

which the LORD

אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶם֙

הַכֹּל֙

concerning you all are come to pass

בָּ֣אוּ

מִמֶּ֖נּוּ

Therefore it shall come to pass that as all good

הַטּוֹבָה֙

 

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

upon you which the LORD

יְהוָ֖ה

אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶֽם׃

 

אֲלֵיכֶ֑ם

 

כֵּן֩

are come

יָבִ֨יא

upon you which the LORD

עֲלֵיכֶ֗ם

 

אֵ֚ת

 

כָּל

things

הַדָּבָ֣ר

upon you all evil

הָרָ֔ע

 

עַד

until he have destroyed

הַשְׁמִיד֣וֹ

 

אֽוֹתְכֶ֗ם

 

מֵ֠עַל

land

הָֽאֲדָמָ֤ה

Therefore it shall come to pass that as all good

הַטּוֹבָה֙

 

הַזֹּ֔את

 

אֲשֶׁר֙

hath given

נָתַ֣ן

 

לָכֶ֔ם

upon you which the LORD

יְהוָ֖ה

your God

אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶֽם׃

When ye have transgressed

בְּ֠עָבְרְכֶם

 

אֶת

the covenant

בְּרִ֨ית

of the LORD

יְהוָה֙

gods

אֱלֹהִ֣ים

 

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

which he commanded

צִוָּ֣ה

 

אֶתְכֶם֒

you and have gone

וַֽהֲלַכְתֶּ֗ם

and served

וַֽעֲבַדְתֶּם֙

gods

אֱלֹהִ֣ים

other

אֲחֵרִ֔ים

and bowed

וְהִשְׁתַּֽחֲוִיתֶ֖ם

 

לָהֶ֑ם

be kindled

וְחָרָ֤ה

yourselves to them then shall the anger

אַף

of the LORD

יְהוָה֙

 

בָּכֶ֔ם

against you and ye shall perish

וַֽאֲבַדְתֶּ֣ם

quickly

מְהֵרָ֔ה

 

מֵעַל֙

land

הָאָ֣רֶץ

from off the good

הַטּוֹבָ֔ה

 

אֲשֶׁ֖ר

which he hath given

נָתַ֥ן

 

לָכֶֽם׃
