that he lifted up

וַיִּשָּׂ֤א

his eyes

עֵינָיו֙

and looked

וַיַּ֔רְא

 

וְהִנֵּה

a man

אִישׁ֙

and behold there stood

עֹמֵ֣ד

 

לְנֶגְדּ֔וֹ

over against him with his sword

וְחַרְבּ֥וֹ

drawn

שְׁלוּפָ֖ה

in his hand

בְּיָד֑וֹ

 

וַיֵּ֨לֶךְ

And it came to pass when Joshua

יְהוֹשֻׁ֤עַ

 

אֵלָיו֙

unto him and said

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר

 

ל֔וֹ

 

הֲלָ֥נוּ

 

אַתָּ֖ה

 

אִם

unto him Art thou for us or for our adversaries

לְצָרֵֽינוּ׃

And he said

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר

 

לֹ֗א

 

כִּ֛י

 

אֲנִ֥י

Nay but as captain

שַׂר

of the host

צְבָֽא

of the LORD

יְהוָ֖ה

 

עַתָּ֣ה

am I now come

בָ֑אתִי

fell

וַיִּפֹּל֩

And Joshua

יְהוֹשֻׁ֨עַ

 

אֶל

on his face

פָּנָ֥יו

to the earth

אַ֙רְצָה֙

and did worship

וַיִּשְׁתָּ֔חוּ

And he said

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר

אֲדֹנִ֖י

מְדַבֵּ֥ר

 

אֶל

unto his servant

עַבְדּֽוֹ׃

וַיֹּאמֶר֩

And the captain

And Joshua

יְהוֹשֻׁ֖עַ

שַׁל

thy shoe

נַֽעַלְךָ֙

from off thy foot

רַגְלֶ֔ךָ

 

כִּ֣י

for the place

הַמָּק֗וֹם

 

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

 

אַתָּ֛ה

whereon thou standest

עֹמֵ֥ד

 

עָלָ֖יו

is holy

קֹ֣דֶשׁ

וַיַּ֥עַשׂ

And Joshua
