גְּד֔וּד

מָצ֖וֹר

he hath laid

בַּשֵּׁ֙בֶט֙

against us they shall smite

יַכּ֣וּ

upon the cheek

יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

 

וְאַתָּ֞ה

 

בֵּֽית

But thou Bethlehem

לֶ֣חֶם

Ephratah

אֶפְרָ֗תָה

though thou be little

צָעִיר֙

 

לִֽהְיוֹת֙

among the thousands

בְּאַלְפֵ֣י

of Judah

יְהוּדָ֔ה

 

מִמְּךָ֙

 

לִ֣י

yet out of thee shall he come forth

יֵצֵ֔א

 

לִֽהְי֥וֹת

unto me that is to be ruler

מוֹשֵׁ֖ל

in Israel

בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל

whose goings forth

וּמוֹצָאֹתָ֥יו

have been from of old

מִקֶּ֖דֶם

from everlasting

מִימֵ֥י

 

עוֹלָֽם׃

 

לָכֵ֣ן

Therefore will he give them up

יִתְּנֵ֔ם

 

עַד

until the time

עֵ֥ת

hath brought forth

יָלָ֑דָה

hath brought forth

יָלָ֑דָה

then the remnant

וְיֶ֣תֶר

of his brethren

אֶחָ֔יו

shall return

יְשׁוּב֖וּן

 

עַל

unto the children

בְּנֵ֥י

of Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

And he shall stand

וְעָמַ֗ד

and feed

וְרָעָה֙

in the strength

בְּעֹ֣ז

of the LORD

יְהוָ֣ה

in the majesty

בִּגְא֕וֹן

of the name

שֵׁ֖ם

of the LORD

יְהוָ֣ה

his God

אֱלֹהָ֑יו

and they shall abide

וְיָשָׁ֕בוּ

 

כִּֽי

 

עַתָּ֥ה

for now shall he be great

יִגְדַּ֖ל

 

עַד

unto the ends

אַפְסֵי

of the earth

אָֽרֶץ׃

 

וְהָיָ֥ה

 

זֶ֖ה

And this man shall be the peace

שָׁל֑וֹם

when the Assyrian

אַשּׁ֣וּר׀

 

כִּֽי

shall come

יָב֣וֹא

into our land

בְאַרְצֵ֗נוּ

 

וְכִ֤י

and when he shall tread

יִדְרֹךְ֙

in our palaces

בְּאַרְמְנוֹתֵ֔ינוּ

then shall we raise

וַהֲקֵמֹ֤נוּ

 

עָלָיו֙

against him seven

שִׁבְעָ֣ה

shepherds

רֹעִ֔ים

and eight

וּשְׁמֹנָ֖ה

principal

נְסִיכֵ֥י

men

אָדָֽם׃

 

וְרָע֞וּ

 

אֶת

and the land

בְאַרְצֵ֔נוּ

of Assyria

מֵֽאַשּׁ֔וּר

with the sword

בַּחֶ֔רֶב

 

וְאֶת

and the land

בְאַרְצֵ֔נוּ

of Nimrod

נִמְרֹ֖ד

in the entrances

בִּפְתָחֶ֑יהָ

thereof thus shall he deliver

וְהִצִּיל֙

of Assyria

מֵֽאַשּׁ֔וּר

 

כִּֽי

when he cometh

יָב֣וֹא

and the land

בְאַרְצֵ֔נוּ

 

וְכִ֥י

and when he treadeth

יִדְרֹ֖ךְ

within our borders

בִּגְבוּלֵֽנוּ׃

 

וְהָיָ֣ה׀

And the remnant

שְׁאֵרִ֣ית

of Jacob

יַעֲקֹ֗ב

shall be in the midst

בְּקֶ֙רֶב֙

people

עַמִּ֣ים

of many

רַבִּ֔ים

as a dew

כְּטַל֙

 

מֵאֵ֣ת

from the LORD

יְהוָ֔ה

as the showers

כִּרְבִיבִ֖ים

 

עֲלֵי

upon the grass

עֵ֑שֶׂב

 

אֲשֶׁ֤ר

 

לֹֽא

that tarrieth

יְקַוֶּה֙

not for man

לְאִ֔ישׁ

 

וְלֹ֥א

nor waiteth

יְיַחֵ֖ל

for the sons

לִבְנֵ֥י

of men

אָדָֽם׃

 

וְהָיָה֩

And the remnant

שְׁאֵרִ֨ית

of Jacob

יַעֲקֹ֜ב

shall be among the Gentiles

בַּגּוֹיִ֗ם

in the midst

בְּקֶ֙רֶב֙

people

עַמִּ֣ים

of many

רַבִּ֔ים

as a lion

כְּאַרְיֵה֙

among the beasts

בְּבַהֲמ֣וֹת

of the forest

יַ֔עַר

as a young lion

כִּכְפִ֖יר

among the flocks

בְּעֶדְרֵי

of sheep

צֹ֑אן

 

אֲשֶׁ֧ר

 

אִם

who if he go through

עָבַ֛ר

both treadeth down

וְרָמַ֥ס

and teareth in pieces

וְטָרַ֖ף

 

וְאֵ֥ין

and none can deliver

מַצִּֽיל׃

shall be lifted up

תָּרֹ֥ם

Thine hand

יָדְךָ֖

 

עַל

upon thine adversaries

צָרֶ֑יךָ

 

וְכָל

and all thine enemies

אֹיְבֶ֖יךָ

shall be cut off

יִכָּרֵֽתוּ׃

 

וְהָיָ֤ה

And it shall come to pass in that day

בַיּוֹם

 

הַהוּא֙

saith

נְאֻם

the LORD

יְהוָ֔ה

that I will cut off

וְהִכְרַתִּ֥י

thy horses

סוּסֶ֖יךָ

out of the midst

מִקִּרְבֶּ֑ךָ

of thee and I will destroy

וְהַאֲבַדְתִּ֖י

thy chariots

מַרְכְּבֹתֶֽיךָ׃

And I will cut off

וְהִכְרַתִּ֖י

 

עָרֵ֣י

of thy land

אַרְצֶ֑ךָ

and throw down

וְהָרַסְתִּ֖י

 

כָּל

all thy strong holds

מִבְצָרֶֽיךָ׃

And I will cut off

וְהִכְרַתִּ֥י

witchcrafts

כְשָׁפִ֖ים

out of thine hand

מִיָּדֶ֑ךָ

and thou shalt have no more soothsayers

וּֽמְעוֹנְנִ֖ים

 

לֹ֥א

 

יִֽהְיוּ

 

לָֽךְ׃

also will I cut off

וְהִכְרַתִּ֧י

Thy graven images

פְסִילֶ֛יךָ

and thy standing images

וּמַצֵּבוֹתֶ֖יךָ

out of the midst

מִקִּרְבֶּ֑ךָ

 

וְלֹֽא

of thee and thou shalt no more worship

תִשְׁתַּחֲוֶ֥ה

 

ע֖וֹד

the work

לְמַעֲשֵׂ֥ה

of thine hands

יָדֶֽיךָ׃

And I will pluck up

וְנָתַשְׁתִּ֥י

thy groves

אֲשֵׁירֶ֖יךָ

out of the midst

מִקִּרְבֶּ֑ךָ

of thee so will I destroy

וְהִשְׁמַדְתִּ֖י

 

עָרֶֽיךָ׃

And I will execute

וְעָשִׂ֜יתִי

in anger

בְּאַ֧ף

and fury

וּבְחֵמָ֛ה

vengeance

נָקָ֖ם

 

אֶת

upon the heathen

הַגּוֹיִ֑ם

 

אֲשֶׁ֖ר

 

לֹ֥א

such as they have not heard

שָׁמֵֽעוּ׃
