not unto thine own understanding

and lean

In all thy ways

דְּרָכֶ֥יךָ

acknowledge

וְ֝ה֗וּא

him and he shall direct

לְעַצְמוֹתֶֽיךָ׃

Honour

כַּבֵּ֣ד

with thy substance

מֵהוֹנֶ֑ךָ

and with the firstfruits

וּ֝מֵרֵאשִׁ֗ית

 

כָּל

of all thine increase

תְּבוּאָתֶֽךָ׃

וְיִמָּלְא֣וּ

So shall thy barns

אֲסָמֶ֣יךָ

with plenty

שָׂבָ֑ע

with new wine

וְ֝תִיר֗וֹשׁ

and thy presses

יְקָבֶ֥יךָ

shall burst out

יִפְרֹֽצוּ׃

not the chastening

מוּסַ֣ר

neither be weary

תָּ֝קֹ֗ץ

of his correction

בְּתוֹכַחְתּֽוֹ׃

 

כִּ֤י

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

loveth

יֶאֱהַ֣ב

For whom the LORD

יְהוָ֣ה

he correcteth

יוֹכִ֑יחַ

even as a father

וּ֝כְאָ֗ב

 

אֶת

the son

בֵּ֥ן

in whom he delighteth

יִרְצֶֽה׃

אַשְׁרֵ֣י

and the man

וְ֝אָדָ֗ם

that findeth

wisdom

of it is better

For the merchandise

סַ֭חְרָהּ

than the merchandise

מִסְּחַר

of silver

thereof than fine gold

וּ֝מֵחָר֗וּץ

and the gain

תְּבוּאָתָֽהּ׃

She is more precious

הִ֭יא

than rubies

and all the things thou canst desire

is every one that retaineth

upon her and happy

by wisdom

בְּחָכְמָ֥ה

hath founded

יָֽסַד

the earth

אָ֑רֶץ

hath he established

כּוֹנֵ֥ן

the heavens

שָׁ֝מַ֗יִם

by understanding

בִּתְבוּנָֽה׃

By his knowledge

בְּ֭דַעְתּוֹ

the depths

תְּהוֹמ֣וֹת

are broken up

נִבְקָ֑עוּ

and the clouds

וּ֝שְׁחָקִ֗ים

drop down

יִרְעֲפוּ

the dew

טָֽל׃

My son

אַל

let not them depart

יָלֻ֣זוּ

from thine eyes

מֵעֵינֶ֑יךָ

keep

נְצֹ֥ר

sound wisdom

תֻּ֝שִׁיָּ֗ה

and discretion

וּמְזִמָּֽה׃

 

וְיִֽהְי֣וּ

So shall they be life

חַיִּ֣ים

unto thy soul

לְנַפְשֶׁ֑ךָ

and grace

וְ֝חֵ֗ן

to thy neck

לְגַרְגְּרֹתֶֽיךָ׃

 

אָ֤ז

 

תֵּלֵ֣ךְ

safely

לָבֶ֣טַח

in thy way

דַּרְכֶּ֑ךָ

and thy foot

וְ֝רַגְלְךָ֗

 

לֹ֣א

shall not stumble

תִגּֽוֹף׃

 

אִם

When thou liest down

וְ֝שָׁכַבְתָּ֗

 

לֹֽא

thou shalt not be afraid

תִפְחָ֑ד

When thou liest down

אַל

Withhold

תִּמְנַע

not good

ט֥וֹב

from them to whom it is due

מִבְּעָלָ֑יו

 

בִּהְי֨וֹת

when it is in the power

לְאֵ֖ל

of thine hand

יָדְיךָ֣

to do

לַעֲשֽׂוֹת׃

 

אַל

Say

תֹּ֘אמַ֤ר

not unto thy neighbour

לְרֵֽעֲיךָ֙׀

 

לֵ֣ךְ

and come again

וָ֭שׁוּב

and to morrow

וּמָחָ֥ר

I will give

אֶתֵּ֗ן

when thou hast

וְיֵ֣שׁ

 

אִתָּֽךְ׃

not evil

תַּחֲרֹ֣שׁ

against thy neighbour

רֵעֲךָ֣

the habitation

צַדִּיקִ֣ים

but he blesseth

Surely he scorneth

יָלִ֑יץ

Surely he scorneth

וְ֝לַעֲנָיִ֗ים

but he giveth

יִתֶּן

The wise

וּ֝כְסִילִ֗ים

shall be the promotion

מֵרִ֥ים
