Against thee thee only have I sinned

וְהָרַ֥ע

in thy sight

בְּעֵינֶ֗יךָ

and done

עָ֫שִׂ֥יתִי

 

לְ֭מַעַן

that thou mightest be justified

תִּצְדַּ֥ק

when thou speakest

בְּדָבְרֶ֗ךָ

and be clear

תִּזְכֶּ֥ה

when thou judgest

בְשָׁפְטֶֽךָ׃

in iniquity

בְּעָו֥וֹן

Behold I was shapen

חוֹלָ֑לְתִּי

and in sin

וּ֝בְחֵ֗טְא

conceive

יֶֽחֱמַ֥תְנִי

did my mother

אִמִּֽי׃

 

הֵן

truth

אֱ֭מֶת

Behold thou desirest

חָפַ֣צְתָּ

in the inward parts

בַטֻּח֑וֹת

and in the hidden

וּ֝בְסָתֻ֗ם

wisdom

חָכְמָ֥ה

part thou shalt make me to know

תוֹדִיעֵֽנִי׃

Purge

תְּחַטְּאֵ֣נִי

me with hyssop

בְאֵז֣וֹב

and I shall be clean

וְאֶטְהָ֑ר

wash

תְּ֝כַבְּסֵ֗נִי

than snow

וּמִשֶּׁ֥לֶג

me and I shall be whiter

אַלְבִּֽין׃

Make me to hear

תַּ֭שְׁמִיעֵנִי

joy

שָׂשׂ֣וֹן

and gladness

וְשִׂמְחָ֑ה

may rejoice

תָּ֝גֵ֗לְנָה

that the bones

עֲצָמ֥וֹת

which thou hast broken

דִּכִּֽיתָ׃

Hide

הַסְתֵּ֣ר

thy face

פָּ֭נֶיךָ

from my sins

מֵחֲטָאָ֑י

 

וְֽכָל

all mine iniquities

עֲוֺ֖נֹתַ֣י

and blot out

מְחֵֽה׃

heart

לֵ֣ב

in me a clean

טָ֭הוֹר

Create

בְּרָא

 

לִ֣י

O God

אֱלֹהִ֑ים

spirit

וְר֥וּחַ

a right

נָ֝כ֗וֹן

and renew

חַדֵּ֥שׁ

within

בְּקִרְבִּֽי׃

 

אַל

Cast me not away

תַּשְׁלִיכֵ֥נִי

from thy presence

מִלְּפָנֶ֑יךָ

spirit

וְר֥וּחַ

not thy holy

קָ֝דְשְׁךָ֗

 

אַל

and take

תִּקַּ֥ח

 

מִמֶּֽנִּי׃

Restore

הָשִׁ֣יבָה

 

לִּ֭י

unto me the joy

שְׂשׂ֣וֹן

of thy salvation

יִשְׁעֶ֑ךָ

spirit

וְר֖וּחַ

me with thy free

נְדִיבָ֣ה

and uphold

תִסְמְכֵֽנִי׃

Then will I teach

אֲלַמְּדָ֣ה

transgressors

פֹשְׁעִ֣ים

thy ways

דְּרָכֶ֑יךָ

and sinners

וְ֝חַטָּאִ֗ים

 

אֵלֶ֥יךָ

shall be converted

יָשֽׁוּבוּ׃

Deliver

הַצִּ֘ילֵ֤נִי

me from bloodguiltiness

מִדָּמִ֨ים׀

O God

אֱלֹהֵ֥י

אֱלֹהֵ֥י

of my salvation

תְּשׁוּעָתִ֑י

shall sing aloud

תְּרַנֵּ֥ן

and my tongue

לְ֝שׁוֹנִ֗י

of thy righteousness

צִדְקָתֶֽךָ׃

thou my lips

שְׂפָתַ֣י

open

תִּפְתָּ֑ח

and my mouth

וּ֝פִ֗י

shall shew forth

יַגִּ֥יד

thy praise

תְּהִלָּתֶֽךָ׃

For thou desirest

תַחְפֹּ֣ץ

not sacrifice

זֶ֣בַח

else would I give

וְאֶתֵּ֑נָה

not in burnt offering

ע֝וֹלָ֗ה

it thou delightest

תִרְצֶֽה׃

Do good

הֵיטִ֣יבָה

in thy good pleasure

בִ֭רְצוֹנְךָ

 

אֶת

unto Zion

צִיּ֑וֹן

build

תִּ֝בְנֶ֗ה

thou the walls

חוֹמ֥וֹת

of Jerusalem

יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃

 

אָ֤ז

Then shalt thou be pleased

תַּחְפֹּ֣ץ

with the sacrifices

זִבְחֵי

of righteousness

צֶ֭דֶק

burnt offering

עוֹלָ֣ה

and whole

וְכָלִ֑יל

 

אָ֤ז

then shall they offer

יַעֲל֖וּ

 

עַל

upon thine altar

מִזְבַּחֲךָ֣

bullocks
