a covenant

with my chosen

unto David

לְדָוִ֥ד

my servant

עַבְדִּֽי׃

עַד

ever

ע֭וֹלָם

will I establish

אָכִ֣ין

Thy seed

זַרְעֶ֑ךָ

and build up

וּבָנִ֨יתִי

generations

וָד֖וֹר

generations

וָד֖וֹר

thy throne

כִּסְאֲךָ֣

shall praise

וְי֘וֹד֤וּ

And the heavens

שָׁמַ֣יִם

thy wonders

פִּלְאֲךָ֣

also in the congregation

of the saints

בִּבְנֵ֥י

of the mighty

and to be had in reverence

Thou rulest

thou stillest

Thou hast broken

in thy name

בְּשִׁמְךָ֥

shall rejoice

Thou hast a mighty

גְּבוּרָ֑ה

strong

תָּעֹ֥ז

is thy hand

and high

Justice

צֶ֣דֶק

and judgment

וּ֭מִשְׁפָּט

are the habitation

מְכ֣וֹן

of thy throne

כִּסְאֶ֑ךָ

mercy

חֶ֥סֶד

and truth

וֶ֝אֱמֶ֗ת

shall go

יְֽקַדְּמ֥וּ

before thy face

פָנֶֽיךָ׃

Blessed

אַשְׁרֵ֣י

is the people

הָ֭עָם

that know

יֹדְעֵ֣י

the joyful sound

תְרוּעָ֑ה

O LORD

יְ֝הוָ֗ה

in the light

בְּֽאוֹר

of thy countenance

פָּנֶ֥יךָ

they shall walk

יְהַלֵּכֽוּן׃

In thy name

בְּ֭שִׁמְךָ

shall they rejoice

יְגִיל֣וּן

 

כָּל

all the day

הַיּ֑וֹם

and in thy righteousness

וּבְצִדְקָתְךָ֥

shall they be exalted

יָרֽוּמוּ׃

 

כִּֽי

For thou art the glory

תִפְאֶ֣רֶת

of their strength

עֻזָּ֣מוֹ

 

אָ֑תָּה

and in thy favour

וּ֝בִרְצוֹנְךָ֗

shall be exalted

תָּר֥יּם

our horn

קַרְנֵֽינוּ׃

 

כִּ֣י

For the LORD

לַֽ֭יהוָה

is our defence

מָֽגִנֵּ֑נוּ

and the Holy One

וְלִקְד֖וֹשׁ

of Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵ֣ל

is our king

מַלְכֵּֽנוּ׃

Then thou spakest

דִּבַּ֥רְתָּֽ

in vision

בְחָ֡זוֹן

to thy holy one

לַֽחֲסִידֶ֗יךָ

and saidst

וַתֹּ֗אמֶר

I have laid

שִׁוִּ֣יתִי

help

עֵ֭זֶר

 

עַל

upon one that is mighty

גִּבּ֑וֹר

I have exalted

הֲרִימ֖וֹתִי

 

בָח֣וּר

out of the people

מֵעָֽם׃

I have found

מָ֭צָאתִי

David

דָּוִ֣ד

my servant

עַבְדִּ֑י

oil

בְּשֶׁ֖מֶן

with my holy

קָדְשִׁ֣י

have I anointed

מְשַׁחְתִּֽיו׃

 

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

With whom my hand

יָ֭דִי

shall be established

תִּכּ֣וֹן

 

עִמּ֑וֹ

 

אַף

mine arm

זְרוֹעִ֥י

also shall strengthen

תְאַמְּצֶֽנּוּ׃

 

לֹֽא

shall not exact

יַשִּׁ֣יא

The enemy

אוֹיֵ֣ב

upon him nor the son

וּבֶן

of wickedness

עַ֝וְלָ֗ה

afflict

יְעַנֶּֽנּוּ׃

And I will beat down

וְכַתּוֹתִ֣י

before his face

מִפָּנָ֣יו

his foes

צָרָ֑יו

them that hate

וּמְשַׂנְאָ֥יו

and plague

אֶגּֽוֹף׃

But my faithfulness

וֶֽאֶֽמוּנָתִ֣י

and my mercy

וְחַסְדִּ֣י

 

עִמּ֑וֹ

shall be with him and in my name

וּ֝בִשְׁמִ֗י

be exalted

תָּר֥וּם

shall his horn

קַרְנֽוֹ׃

I will set

וְשַׂמְתִּ֣י

also in the sea

בַיָּ֣ם

his hand

יָד֑וֹ

in the rivers

וּֽבַנְּהָר֥וֹת

and his right hand

יְמִינֽוֹ׃

 

ה֣וּא

He shall cry

יִ֭קְרָאֵנִי

unto me Thou art my father

אָ֣בִי

 

אָ֑תָּה

my God

אֵ֝לִ֗י

and the rock

וְצ֣וּר

of my salvation

יְשׁוּעָתִֽי׃

 

אַף

 

אָ֭נִי

him my firstborn

בְּכ֣וֹר

Also I will make

אֶתְּנֵ֑הוּ

higher

עֶ֝לְי֗וֹן

than the kings

לְמַלְכֵי

of the earth

אָֽרֶץ׃

for him for evermore

לְ֭עוֹלָ֗ם

will I keep

My mercy

חַסְדִּ֑י

and my covenant

וּ֝בְרִיתִ֗י

shall stand fast

forsake

If his children

my law

תּוֹרָתִ֑י

not in my judgments

וּ֝בְמִשְׁפָּטַ֗י

 

לֹ֣א

 

יֵלֵכֽוּן׃

 

אִם

my statutes

חֻקֹּתַ֥י

If they break

יְחַלֵּ֑לוּ

not my commandments

וּ֝מִצְוֹתַ֗י

 

לֹ֣א

and keep

יִשְׁמֹֽרוּ׃

Then will I visit

וּפָקַדְתִּ֣י

with the rod

בְשֵׁ֣בֶט

their transgression

פִּשְׁעָ֑ם

with stripes

וּבִנְגָעִ֥ים

and their iniquity

עֲוֹנָֽם׃

Nevertheless my lovingkindness

וְ֭חַסְדִּי

 

לֹֽא

will I not utterly take

אָפִ֣יר

 

מֵֽעִמּ֑וֹ

 

וְלֹֽא

to fail

אֲ֝שַׁקֵּ֗ר

from him nor suffer my faithfulness

בֶּאֱמוּנָתִֽי׃

 

לֹא

will I not break

אֲחַלֵּ֥ל

My covenant

בְּרִיתִ֑י

the thing that is gone out

וּמוֹצָ֥א

of my lips

nor alter

Once

אַ֭חַת

have I sworn

נִשְׁבַּ֣עְתִּי

by my holiness

בְקָדְשִׁ֑י

unto David

לְדָוִ֥ד

that I will not lie

אֲכַזֵּֽב׃

His seed

זַ֭רְעוֹ

shall endure for ever

לְעוֹלָ֣ם

 

יִהְיֶ֑ה

and his throne

וְכִסְא֖וֹ

as the sun

כַשֶּׁ֣מֶשׁ

 

נֶגְדִּֽי׃

as the moon

כְּ֭יָרֵחַ

It shall be established

יִכּ֣וֹן

for ever

עוֹלָ֑ם

witness

וְעֵ֥ד

in heaven

בַּ֝שַּׁ֗חַק

and as a faithful

נֶאֱמָ֥ן

But thou hast cast off

and abhorred

thou hast been wroth

מְשִׁיחֶֽךָ׃

Thou hast made void

נֵ֭אַרְתָּה

the covenant

בְּרִ֣ית

of thy servant

עַבְדֶּ֑ךָ

thou hast profaned

חִלַּ֖לְתָּ

by casting it to the ground

לָאָ֣רֶץ

his crown

נִזְרֽוֹ׃

Thou hast broken down

פָּרַ֥צְתָּ

all his hedges

גְּדֵרֹתָ֑יו

thou hast brought

his strong holds

to ruin

him he is a reproach

Thou hast set up

the right hand

to rejoice
