And to speak

לֵאמֹ֑ר

 

אֶל

unto the priests

הַכֹּֽהֲנִים֙

 

אֲשֶׁר֙

which were in the house

לְבֵית

of the LORD

יְהוָ֣ה

of hosts

צְבָא֔וֹת

 

וְאֶל

and to the prophets

הַנְּבִיאִ֖ים

And to speak

לֵאמֹ֑ר

Should I weep

הַֽאֶבְכֶּה֙

month

בַּחֹ֣דֶשׁ

in the fifth

הַחֲמִשִׁ֔י

separating

הִנָּזֵ֕ר

 

כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר

myself as I have done

עָשִׂ֔יתִי

וַיְהִ֛י

Then came the word

דְּבַר

of the LORD

יְהוָ֥ה

of hosts

צְבָא֖וֹת

 

אֵלַ֥י

unto me saying

לֵאמֹֽר׃

Speak

לֵאמֹ֑ר

 

אֶל

 

כָּל

unto all the people

עַ֣ם

of the land

הָאָ֔רֶץ

 

וְאֶל

and to the priests

הַכֹּהֲנִ֖ים

Speak

לֵאמֹ֑ר

 

כִּֽי

When ye fasted

צַמְתֻּ֖נִי

and mourned

וְסָפ֜וֹד

in the fifth

בַּחֲמִישִׁ֣י

and seventh

וּבַשְּׁבִיעִ֗י

 

וְזֶה֙

month even those seventy

שִׁבְעִ֣ים

years

שָׁנָ֔ה

When ye fasted

צַמְתֻּ֖נִי

When ye fasted

וְכִ֥י

And when ye did eat

הָאֹ֣כְלִ֔ים

הַדְּבָרִ֗ים

 

אֲשֶׁ֨ר

prophets

הַנְּבִיאִ֣ים

the former

הָרִֽאשֹׁנִ֔ים

 

בִּהְי֤וֹת

when Jerusalem

יְרוּשָׁלִַ֙ם֙

her when men inhabited

יֹשֵֽׁב׃

and in prosperity

וּשְׁלֵוָ֔ה

and the cities

וְעָרֶ֖יהָ

thereof round about

סְבִיבֹתֶ֑יהָ

the south

וְהַנֶּ֥גֶב

and the plain

וְהַשְּׁפֵלָ֖ה

her when men inhabited

יֹשֵֽׁב׃

 

וַֽיְהִי֙

And the word

דְּבַר

of the LORD

אֶל

judgment

מִשְׁפַּ֤ט

true

אֱמֶת֙

Execute

שְׁפֹ֔טוּ

mercy

וְחֶ֣סֶד

and compassions

וְרַֽחֲמִ֔ים

and shew

עֲשׂ֖וּ

every man

אִ֥ישׁ

 

אֶת

to his brother

אָחִֽיו׃

not the widow

וְאַלְמָנָ֧ה

nor the fatherless

וְיָת֛וֹם

the stranger

גֵּ֥ר

nor the poor

וְעָנִ֖י

 

אַֽל

And oppress

תַּעֲשֹׁ֑קוּ

evil

וְרָעַת֙

against

אִ֣ישׁ

his brother

אָחִ֔יו

 

אַֽל

and let none of you imagine

תַּחְשְׁב֖וּ

in your heart

בִּלְבַבְכֶֽם׃

But they refused

וַיְמָאֲנ֣וּ

to hearken

לְהַקְשִׁ֔יב

and pulled away

וַיִּתְּנ֥וּ

the shoulder

כָתֵ֖ף

 

סֹרָ֑רֶת

their ears

וְאָזְנֵיהֶ֖ם

and stopped

הִכְבִּ֥ידוּ

that they should not hear

מִשְּׁמֽוֹעַ׃

their hearts

וְלִבָּ֞ם

Yea they made

שָׂ֣מוּ

as an adamant stone

שָׁמִ֗יר

lest they should hear

מִ֠שְּׁמוֹעַ

 

אֶת

the law

הַתּוֹרָ֤ה

 

וְאֶת

and the words

הַדְּבָרִים֙

 

אֲשֶׁ֨ר

hath sent

שָׁלַ֜ח

from the LORD

יְהוָ֥ה

of hosts

צְבָאֽוֹת׃

in his spirit

בְּרוּח֔וֹ

by

בְּיַ֖ד

prophets

הַנְּבִיאִ֣ים

the former

הָרִֽאשֹׁנִ֑ים

 

וַֽיְהִי֙

wrath

קֶ֣צֶף

therefore came a great

גָּד֔וֹל

 

מֵאֵ֖ת

from the LORD

יְהוָ֥ה

of hosts

צְבָאֽוֹת׃

כַאֲשֶׁר

Therefore it is come to pass that as he cried

יִקְרְאוּ֙

 

וְלֹ֣א

and I would not hear

אֶשְׁמָ֔ע

 

כֵּ֤ן

Therefore it is come to pass that as he cried

אָמַ֖ר

the LORD

יְהוָ֥ה

צְבָאֽוֹת׃

But I scattered them with a whirlwind

וְאֵ֣סָעֲרֵ֗ם

 

עַ֤ל

 

כָּל

among all the nations

הַגּוֹיִם֙

 

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

 

לֹֽא

whom they knew

יְדָע֔וּם

land

אֶֽרֶץ

desolate

נָשַׁ֣מָּה

after

אַֽחֲרֵיהֶ֔ם

them that no man passed through

מֵֽעֹבֵ֖ר

nor returned

וּמִשָּׁ֑ב

for they laid

וַיָּשִׂ֥ימוּ

land

אֶֽרֶץ

the pleasant

חֶמְדָּ֖ה

was desolate

לְשַׁמָּֽה׃
