וַיָּבִ֥אוּ

it into the house

Dagon

דָּגֽוֹן׃

and set

וַיַּצִּ֥יגוּ

 

אֹת֖וֹ

it by

אֵ֥צֶל

Dagon

דָּגֽוֹן׃

arose early

וַיַּשְׁכִּ֤מוּ

And when they of Ashdod

אַשְׁדּוֹדִים֙

on the morrow

מִֽמָּחֳרָ֔ת

 

וְהִנֵּ֣ה

Dagon

דָּג֔וֹן

was fallen

נֹפֵ֤ל

before

לִפְנֵ֖י

to the earth

אַ֔רְצָה

before

לִפְנֵ֖י

the ark

אֲר֣וֹן

of the LORD

יְהוָ֑ה

And they took

וַיִּקְחוּ֙

 

אֶת

Dagon

דָּג֔וֹן

again

וַיָּשִׁ֥בוּ

 

אֹת֖וֹ

him in his place

לִמְקוֹמֽוֹ׃

And when they arose early

וַיַּשְׁכִּ֣מוּ

morning

בַבֹּקֶר֮

on the morrow

מִֽמָּחֳרָת֒

 

וְהִנֵּ֣ה

behold Dagon

דָּג֖וֹן

was fallen

נֹפֵ֤ל

before

לִפְנֵ֖י

to the ground

אַ֔רְצָה

before

לִפְנֵ֖י

the ark

אֲר֣וֹן

of the LORD

יְהוָ֑ה

and the head

וְרֹ֨אשׁ

behold Dagon

דָּג֖וֹן

and both

וּשְׁתֵּ֣י׀

the palms

כַּפּ֣וֹת

of his hands

יָדָ֗יו

were cut off

כְּרֻתוֹת֙

 

אֶל

upon the threshold

הַמִּפְתָּ֔ן

 

רַ֥ק

behold Dagon

דָּג֖וֹן

was left

נִשְׁאַ֥ר

 

עָלָֽיו׃

But the hand

of the LORD

and he destroyed

וַיְשִׁמֵּ֑ם

וַיַּ֤ךְ

גְּבוּלֶֽיהָ׃

וַיִּרְא֥וּ

And when the men

אַנְשֵֽׁי

of Ashdod

that it was so they said

וְאָֽמְר֗וּ

shall not abide

The ark

אֲר֨וֹן

אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ׃

יִשְׂרָאֵל֙

 

עִמָּ֔נוּ

 

כִּֽי

is sore

קָשְׁתָ֤ה

with us for his hand

יָדוֹ֙

 

עָלֵ֔ינוּ

 

וְעַ֖ל

upon us and upon Dagon

דָּג֥וֹן

of the God

אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ׃

They sent

וַיִּשְׁלְח֡וּ

therefore and gathered

וַיַּֽאַסְפוּ֩

all the lords

סַרְנֵ֨י

of the Philistines

פְלִשְׁתִּ֜ים

 

אֲלֵיהֶ֗ם

And they answered

וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ

נַּעֲשֶׂ֗ה

Let the ark

אֲר֖וֹן

of the God

אֱלֹהֵ֥י

of Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

And they answered

וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ

גַּ֣ת

And they carried

וַיַּסֵּ֕בּוּ

in their secret parts

וַיִּשָּֽׂתְר֥וּ

 

לָהֶ֖ם

 

עְפֹלִֽים׃

Therefore they sent

וַֽיְשַׁלְּח֛וּ

of God

אֱלֹהֵ֣י

to Ekron

עֶקְר֔וֹן

 

וַיְהִ֗י

כְּב֨וֹא

And it came to pass as the ark

cried out

וַיִּזְעֲק֨וּ

that the Ekronites

הָֽעֶקְרֹנִ֜ים

saying

לֵאמֹ֗ר

They have brought about

הֵסַ֤בּוּ

 

אֵלַי֙

And it came to pass as the ark

אֲרוֹן֙

of God

אֱלֹהֵ֣י

of Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל

to us to slay

לַֽהֲמִיתֵ֖נִי

 

וְאֶת

us and our people

עַמִּֽי׃

Send away

שַׁלְּח֞וּ

and gathered together

וַיַּֽאַסְפ֜וּ

 

אֶת

 

כָּל

all the lords

סַרְנֵ֣י

of the Philistines

פְלִשְׁתִּ֗ים

and said

וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙

Send away

וְהָֽאֲנָשִׁים֙

 

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

 

לֹא

הֻכּ֖וּ

 

בַּעְּפֹלִ֑ים

went up

וַתַּ֛עַל

and the cry

שַֽׁוְעַ֥ת

of the city

הָעִ֖יר

to heaven

הַשָּׁמָֽיִם׃
