Behold Damascus

וְהָיְתָ֖ה

and it shall be a ruinous

they shall be for flocks

לַעֲדָרִ֣ים

 

תִּֽהְיֶ֔ינָה

which shall lie down

וְרָבְצ֖וּ

 

וְאֵ֥ין

and none shall make them afraid

מַחֲרִֽיד׃

also shall cease

וְנִשְׁבַּ֤ת

The fortress

מִבְצָר֙

from Ephraim

מֵֽאֶפְרַ֔יִם

and the kingdom

וּמַמְלָכָ֥ה

from Damascus

מִדַּמֶּ֖שֶׂק

and the remnant

וּשְׁאָ֣ר

of Syria

אֲרָ֑ם

they shall be as the glory

כִּכְב֤וֹד

of the children

בְּנֵֽי

of Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵל֙

 

יִֽהְי֔וּ

saith

נְאֻ֖ם

the LORD

יְהוָ֥ה

of hosts

צְבָאֽוֹת׃

 

וְהָיָה֙

And in that day

בַּיּ֣וֹם

 

הַה֔וּא

shall be made thin

יִדַּ֖ל

it shall come to pass that the glory

כְּב֣וֹד

of Jacob

יַעֲקֹ֑ב

and the fatness

וּמִשְׁמַ֥ן

of his flesh

בְּשָׂר֖וֹ

shall wax lean

יֵרָזֶֽה׃

 

וְהָיָ֗ה

gathereth

כֶּֽאֱסֹף֙

And it shall be as when the harvestman

קָצִ֣יר

the corn

קָמָ֔ה

with his arm

וּזְרֹע֖וֹ

ears

שִׁבֳּלִ֖ים

and reapeth

יִקְצ֑וֹר

 

וְהָיָ֛ה

and it shall be as he that gathereth

כִּמְלַקֵּ֥ט

ears

שִׁבֳּלִ֖ים

in the valley

בְּעֵ֥מֶק

of Rephaim

רְפָאִֽים׃

shall be left

וְנִשְׁאַר

 

בּ֤וֹ

Yet gleaning grapes

עֽוֹלֵלֹת֙

in it as the shaking

כְּנֹ֣קֶף

of an olive tree

זַ֔יִת

שְׁנַ֧יִם

or three

שְׁלֹשָׁ֛ה

berries

גַּרְגְּרִ֖ים

in the top

בְּרֹ֣אשׁ

of the uppermost bough

אָמִ֑יר

אַרְבָּעָ֣ה

חֲמִשָּׁ֗ה

branches

בִּסְעִפֶ֙יהָ֙

in the outmost fruitful

פֹּֽרִיָּ֔ה

thereof saith

At that day

בַּיּ֣וֹם

יִשְׁעֶ֥ה

shall a man

הָאָדָ֖ם

to his Maker

עֹשֵׂ֑הוּ

and his eyes

וְעֵינָ֕יו

 

אֶל

to the Holy

קְד֥וֹשׁ

One of Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל

shall have respect

תִּרְאֶֽינָה׃

 

וְלֹ֣א

And he shall not look

יִשְׁעֶ֔ה

 

אֶל

to the altars

הַֽמִּזְבְּח֖וֹת

the work

מַעֲשֵׂ֣ה

of his hands

יָדָ֑יו

 

וַאֲשֶׁ֨ר

have made

עָשׂ֤וּ

that which his fingers

אֶצְבְּעֹתָיו֙

 

לֹ֣א

neither shall respect

יִרְאֶ֔ה

either the groves

וְהָאֲשֵׁרִ֖ים

or the images

וְהָחַמָּנִֽים׃

In that day

בַּיּ֨וֹם

 

הַה֜וּא

 

יִהְי֣וּ׀

cities

עָרֵ֣י

shall his strong

מָעוּזּ֗וֹ

be as a forsaken

עָזְב֔וּ

bough

הַחֹ֙רֶשׁ֙

and an uppermost branch

וְהָ֣אָמִ֔יר

 

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

be as a forsaken

עָזְב֔וּ

because

מִפְּנֵ֖י

of the children

בְּנֵ֣י

of Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל

 

וְהָיְתָ֖ה

and there shall be desolation

שְׁמָמָֽה׃

 

כִּ֤י

Because thou hast forgotten

שָׁכַ֙חַתְּ֙

the God

אֱלֹהֵ֣י

of thy salvation

יִשְׁעֵ֔ךְ

of the rock

וְצ֥וּר

of thy strength

מָעֻזֵּ֖ךְ

 

לֹ֣א

and hast not been mindful

זָכָ֑רְתְּ

 

עַל

 

כֵּ֗ן

therefore shalt thou plant

תִּטְּעִי֙

plants

נִטְעֵ֣י

pleasant

נַעֲמָנִ֔ים

slips

וּזְמֹ֥רַת

it with strange

זָ֖ר

and shalt set

תִּזְרָעֶֽנּוּ׃

In the day

בְּי֥וֹם

shalt thou make thy plant

נִטְעֵךְ֙

to grow

תְּשַׂגְשֵׂ֔גִי

and in the morning

וּבַבֹּ֖קֶר

shalt thou make thy seed

זַרְעֵ֣ךְ

to flourish

תַּפְרִ֑יחִי

shall be a heap

נֵ֥ד

but the harvest

קָצִ֛יר

In the day

בְּי֥וֹם

of grief

נַחֲלָ֖ה

sorrow

וּכְאֵ֥ב

and of desperate

אָנֽוּשׁ׃

Woe

ה֗וֹי

to the multitude

הֲמוֹן֙

people

עַמִּ֣ים

of many

רַבִּ֔ים

like the noise

יֶהֱמָי֑וּן

of the seas

יַמִּ֖ים

like the noise

יֶהֱמָי֑וּן

and to the rushing

כִּשְׁא֛וֹן

of nations

לְאֻמִּ֔ים

and to the rushing

כִּשְׁא֛וֹן

waters

מַ֥יִם

of mighty

כַּבִּירִ֖ים

that make a rushing like the rushing

יִשָּׁאֽוּן׃

The nations

לְאֻמִּ֗ים

like the rushing

כִּשְׁא֞וֹן

waters

מַ֤יִם

of many

רַבִּים֙

shall rush

יִשָּׁא֔וּן

but God shall rebuke

וְגָ֥עַר

 

בּ֖וֹ

them and they shall flee

וְנָ֣ס

far off

מִמֶּרְחָ֑ק

and shall be chased

וְרֻדַּ֗ף

as the chaff

כְּמֹ֤ץ

of the mountains

הָרִים֙

before

לִפְנֵ֥י

the wind

ר֔וּחַ

and like a rolling thing

וּכְגַלְגַּ֖ל

before

לִפְנֵ֥י

the whirlwind

סוּפָֽה׃

And behold at eveningtide

לְעֵ֥ת

 

עֶ֙רֶב֙

 

וְהִנֵּ֣ה

trouble

בַלָּהָ֔ה

 

בְּטֶ֥רֶם

and before the morning

בֹּ֖קֶר

 

אֵינֶ֑נּוּ

 

זֶ֚ה
