And she brought up

וַתַּ֛עַל

אֶחָ֥ד

of her whelps

מִגֻּרֶ֖יהָ

it became a young lion

כְּפִ֣יר

 

הָיָ֑ה

and it learned

וַיִּלְמַ֥ד

to catch

לִטְרָף

the prey

טֶ֖רֶף

men

אָדָ֥ם

it devoured

אָכָֽל׃

also heard

וַיִּשְׁמְע֥וּ

 

אֵלָ֛יו

The nations

גּוֹיִ֖ם

in their pit

בְּשַׁחְתָּ֣ם

of him he was taken

נִתְפָּ֑שׂ

and they brought

וַיְבִאֻ֥הוּ

him with chains

בַֽחַחִ֖ים

 

אֶל

unto the land

אֶ֥רֶץ

of Egypt

מִצְרָֽיִם׃

Now when she saw

וַתֵּ֙רֶא֙

 

כִּ֣י

that she had waited

נֽוֹחֲלָ֔ה

was lost

אָבְדָ֖ה

and her hope

תִּקְוָתָ֑הּ

then she took

וַתִּקַּ֛ח

another

אֶחָ֥ד

of her whelps

מִגֻּרֶ֖יהָ

him a young lion

כְּפִ֥יר

and made

שָׂמָֽתְהוּ׃

And he went up and down

וַיִּתְהַלֵּ֥ךְ

among

בְּתוֹךְ

the lions

אֲרָי֖וֹת

he became a young lion

כְּפִ֣יר

 

הָיָ֑ה

and learned

וַיִּלְמַ֥ד

to catch

לִטְרָף

the prey

טֶ֖רֶף

men

אָדָ֥ם

and devoured

אָכָֽל׃

And he knew

וַיֵּ֙דַע֙

their desolate palaces

אַלְמְנוֹתָ֔יו

their cities

וְעָרֵיהֶ֖ם

and he laid waste

הֶחֱרִ֑יב

was desolate

וַתֵּ֤שַׁם

and the land

אֶ֙רֶץ֙

and the fulness

וּמְלֹאָ֔הּ

thereof by the noise

מִקּ֖וֹל

of his roaring

שַׁאֲגָתֽוֹ׃

set

וַיִּתְּנ֨וּ

 

עָלָ֥יו

Then the nations

גּוֹיִ֛ם

against him on every side

סָבִ֖יב

from the provinces

מִמְּדִינ֑וֹת

and spread

וַֽיִּפְרְשׂ֥וּ

 

עָלָ֛יו

their net

רִשְׁתָּ֖ם

in their pit

בְּשַׁחְתָּ֥ם

over him he was taken

נִתְפָּֽשׂ׃

And they put

וַֽיִּתְּנֻ֤הוּ

him in ward

בַסּוּגַר֙

in chains

בַּֽחַחִ֔ים

and brought

יְבִאֻ֙הוּ֙

 

אֶל

him to the king

מֶ֣לֶךְ

of Babylon

בָּבֶ֑ל

and brought

יְבִאֻ֙הוּ֙

him into holds

בַּמְּצֹד֔וֹת

 

לְמַ֗עַן

 

לֹא

should no more be heard

יִשָּׁמַ֥ע

that his voice

קוֹל֛וֹ

 

ע֖וֹד

 

אֶל

upon the mountains

הָרֵ֥י

of Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

Thy mother

אִמְּךָ֥

is like a vine

כַגֶּ֛פֶן

in thy blood

בְּדָמְךָ֖

 

עַל

by the waters

מִמַּ֥יִם

planted

שְׁתוּלָ֑ה

she was fruitful

פֹּֽרִיָּה֙

and full of branches

וַֽעֲנֵפָ֔ה

 

הָיְתָ֖ה

by the waters

מִמַּ֥יִם

by reason of many

רַבִּֽים׃

 

וַיִּֽהְיוּ

 

לָ֞הּ

rods

מַטּ֣וֹת

And she had strong

עֹ֗ז

 

אֶל

for the sceptres

שִׁבְטֵי֙

of them that bare rule

מֹֽשְׁלִ֔ים

was exalted

וַתִּגְבַּ֥הּ

and her stature

קֽוֹמָת֖וֹ

 

עַל

 

בֵּ֣ין

among the thick branches

עֲבֹתִ֑ים

and she appeared

וַיֵּרָ֣א

in her height

בְגָבְה֔וֹ

with the multitude

בְּרֹ֖ב

of her branches

דָּלִיֹּתָֽיו׃

But she was plucked up

וַתֻּתַּ֤שׁ

in fury

בְּחֵמָה֙

to the ground

לָאָ֣רֶץ

she was cast down

הֻשְׁלָ֔כָה

wind

וְר֥וּחַ

and the east

הַקָּדִ֖ים

and withered

וְיָבֵ֛שׁוּ

her fruit

פִּרְיָ֑הּ

were broken

הִתְפָּרְק֧וּ

and withered

וְיָבֵ֛שׁוּ

rods

מַטֵּ֥ה

her strong

עֻזָּ֖הּ

the fire

אֵ֥שׁ

consumed

אֲכָלָֽתְהוּ׃

 

וְעַתָּ֖ה

And now she is planted

שְׁתוּלָ֣ה

in the wilderness

בַמִּדְבָּ֑ר

ground

בְּאֶ֖רֶץ

in a dry

צִיָּ֥ה

and thirsty

וְצָמָֽא׃

is gone out

וַתֵּצֵ֨א

And fire

אֵ֜שׁ

of a rod

מַטֵּה

of her branches

בַדֶּ֙יהָ֙

her fruit

פִּרְיָ֣הּ

which hath devoured

אָכָ֔לָה

 

וְלֹא

 

הָ֥יָה

 

בָ֛הּ

of a rod

מַטֵּה

so that she hath no strong

עֹ֖ז

to be a sceptre

שֵׁ֣בֶט

to rule

לִמְשׁ֑וֹל
