I will not be enquired

אִדָּרֵ֣שׁ

וָאֶשָּׂ֨א

mine hand

unto the seed

לְזֶ֙רַע֙

of Jacob

and made myself known

וָאִוָּדַ֥ע

 

לָהֶ֖ם

unto them in the land

בְּאֶ֣רֶץ

of Egypt

מִצְרָ֑יִם

and lifted up

וָאֶשָּׂ֨א

mine hand

יָדִ֤י

 

לָהֶם֙

And say

לֵאמֹ֔ר

 

אֲנִ֖י

I am the LORD

יְהוָ֥ה

your God

אֱלֹהֵיכֶֽם׃

In the day

בַּיּ֣וֹם

 

הַה֗וּא

that I lifted up

נָשָׂ֤אתִי

mine hand

יָדִי֙

 

לָהֶ֔ם

unto them to bring them forth

לְהֽוֹצִיאָ֖ם

into a land

הָאֲרָצֽוֹת׃

of Egypt

מִצְרָ֑יִם

 

אֶל

into a land

הָאֲרָצֽוֹת׃

 

אֲשֶׁר

that I had espied

תַּ֣רְתִּי

 

לָהֶ֗ם

for them flowing

זָבַ֤ת

with milk

חָלָב֙

and honey

וּדְבַ֔שׁ

which is the glory

הִ֖יא

 

לְכָל

into a land

הָאֲרָצֽוֹת׃

Then said

וָאֹמַ֣ר

 

אֲלֵהֶ֗ם

every man

אִ֣ישׁ

the abominations

שִׁקּוּצֵ֤י

of his eyes

עֵינָיו֙

I unto them Cast ye away

הַשְׁלִ֔יכוּ

not yourselves with the idols

וּבְגִלּוּלֵ֥י

of Egypt

מִצְרַ֖יִם

 

אַל

and defile

תִּטַּמָּ֑אוּ

 

אֲנִ֖י

I am the LORD

יְהוָ֥ה

your God

אֱלֹהֵיכֶֽם׃

But they rebelled

וַיַּמְרוּ

 

בִ֗י

 

וְלֹ֤א

against me and would

אָבוּ֙

not hearken

לִּשְׁמֹ֣עַ

 

אֵלַ֔י

unto me they did not every man

אִ֣ישׁ

 

אֶת

the abominations

שִׁקּוּצֵ֤י

of their eyes

עֵֽינֵיהֶם֙

 

לֹ֣א

cast away

הִשְׁלִ֔יכוּ

 

וְאֶת

the idols

גִּלּוּלֵ֥י

of Egypt

מִצְרָֽיִם׃

 

לֹ֣א

neither did they forsake

עָזָ֑בוּ

then I said

וָאֹמַ֞ר

I will pour out

לִשְׁפֹּ֧ךְ

my fury

חֲמָתִ֣י

 

עֲלֵיהֶ֗ם

upon them to accomplish

לְכַלּ֤וֹת

my anger

אַפִּי֙

 

בָּהֶ֔ם

against them in the midst

בְּת֖וֹךְ

of the land

אֶ֥רֶץ

of Egypt

מִצְרָֽיִם׃

But I wrought

וָאַ֙עַשׂ֙

 

לְמַ֣עַן

for my name's

שְׁמִ֔י

 

לְבִלְתִּ֥י

sake that it should not be polluted

הֵחֵ֛ל

before

לְעֵ֣ינֵיהֶ֔ם

the heathen

הַגּוֹיִ֖ם

 

אֲשֶׁר

I made myself known

נוֹדַ֤עְתִּי

 

אֲלֵיהֶם֙

לְעֵ֣ינֵיהֶ֔ם

unto them in bringing them forth

of Egypt

Wherefore I caused them to go forth

הָאָדָ֖ם

לְבִלְתִּ֤י

sake that it should not be polluted

הֵחֵל֙

לְעֵינֵיהֶֽם׃

the heathen

הַגּוֹיִ֔ם

 

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

I brought them out

הוֹצֵאתִ֖ים

Yet also I lifted up

נָשָׂ֧אתִי

גִלּוּלֵיהֶ֖ם

לִבָּ֥ם

הֹלֵֽךְ׃

וַתָּ֧חָס

Nevertheless mine eye

עֵינִ֛י

 

עֲלֵיהֶ֖ם

them from destroying

מִֽשַּׁחֲתָ֑ם

 

וְלֹֽא

them neither did I make

עָשִׂ֧יתִי

 

אוֹתָ֛ם

an end

כָּלָ֖ה

of them in the wilderness

בַּמִּדְבָּֽר׃

But I said

וָאֹמַ֤ר

 

אֶל

unto their children

בְּנֵיהֶם֙

in the wilderness

בַּמִּדְבָּ֔ר

ye not in the statutes

בְּחוּקֵּ֤י

of your fathers

אֲבֽוֹתֵיכֶם֙

 

אַל

 

תֵּלֵ֔כוּ

 

וְאֶת

their judgments

מִשְׁפְּטֵיהֶ֖ם

 

אַל

neither observe

תִּשְׁמֹ֑רוּ

yourselves with their idols

וּבְגִלּוּלֵיהֶ֖ם

 

אַל

nor defile

תִּטַּמָּֽאוּ׃

 

אֲנִי֙

I am the LORD

יְהוָ֣ה

your God

אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֔ם

in my statutes

בְּחֻקּוֹתַ֖י

 

לֵ֑כוּ

 

וְאֶת

my judgments

מִשְׁפָּטַ֥י

and keep

שִׁמְר֖וּ

and do

וַעֲשׂ֥וּ

 

אוֹתָֽם׃

 

וְאֶת

my sabbaths

שַׁבְּתוֹתַ֖י

And hallow

קַדֵּ֑שׁוּ

 

וְהָי֤וּ

and they shall be a sign

לְאוֹת֙

 

בֵּינִ֣י

 

וּבֵֽינֵיכֶ֔ם

between me and you that ye may know

לָדַ֕עַת

 

כִּ֛י

 

אֲנִ֥י

that I am the LORD

יְהוָ֖ה

Notwithstanding the children

הַבָּנִ֗ים

not in my statutes

שָׁמְר֜וּ

שַׁבְּתוֹתַ֖י

and had polluted

חִלֵּ֑לוּ

were after

וְאַחֲרֵי֙

idols

גִּלּוּלֵ֣י

their fathers

הָי֖וּ

and their eyes

Wherefore I gave

נָתַ֣תִּי

 

לָהֶ֔ם

them also statutes

that were not good

טוֹבִ֑ים

and judgments

וּמִ֨שְׁפָּטִ֔ים

 

לֹ֥א

whereby they should not live

יִֽחְי֖וּ

 

בָּהֶֽם׃

And I polluted

וָאֲטַמֵּ֤א

 

אוֹתָם֙

them in their own gifts

בְּמַתְּנוֹתָ֔ם

in that they caused to pass through

בְּהַעֲבִ֖יר

 

כָּל

the fire all that openeth

פֶּ֣טֶר

the womb

רָ֑חַם

 

לְמַ֣עַן

that I might make them desolate

אֲשִׁמֵּ֔ם

to the end that they might know

and there they presented

עֵ֣ץ

and there they presented

the provocation

Then I said

whereunto ye go

Are ye polluted

נִטְמְאִ֑ים

וְאַחֲרֵ֥י

their abominations

שִׁקּוּצֵיהֶ֖ם

 

אַתֶּ֥ם

and commit ye whoredom

זֹנִֽים׃

For when ye offer

וּבִשְׂאֵ֣ת

your gifts

מַתְּנֹֽתֵיכֶ֡ם

to pass through

בְּֽהַעֲבִיר֩

when ye make your sons

בְּנֵיכֶ֨ם

the fire

בָּאֵ֜שׁ

 

אַתֶּם֩

ye pollute

נִטְמְאִ֤֨ים

 

לְכָל

yourselves with all your idols

גִּלּֽוּלֵיכֶם֙

 

עַד

even unto this day

הַיּ֔וֹם

 

וַאֲנִ֛י

I will not be enquired

אִדָּרֵ֖שׁ

surely with a mighty

and with a stretched out

וּבְחֵמָ֥ה

שְׁפוּכָ֖ה

will I rule

אֶמְל֥וֹךְ

 

עֲלֵיכֶֽם׃

And I will bring you out

וְהוֹצֵאתִ֤י

 

אֶתְכֶם֙

 

מִן

from the people

הָ֣עַמִּ֔ים

and will gather

וְקִבַּצְתִּ֣י

 

אֶתְכֶ֔ם

 

מִן

you out of the countries

הָ֣אֲרָצ֔וֹת

wherein ye are scattered

נְפוֹצֹתֶ֖ם

with a mighty

from among you the rebels

and them that transgress

and ye shall know

וִֽידַעְתֶּ֖ם

 

כִּי

 

אֲנִ֥י

that I am the LORD

יְהוָֽה׃

 

וְאַתֶּ֨ם

As for you O house

בֵּֽית

of Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵ֜ל

 

כֹּֽה

thus saith

אָמַ֣ר׀

the Lord

אֲדֹנָ֣י

GOD

יְהוִֹ֗ה

ye every one

אִ֤ישׁ

and with your idols

וּבְגִלּוּלֵיכֶֽם׃

 

לְכ֣וּ

ye serve

עֲבֹ֔דוּ

and hereafter

וְאַחַ֕ר

 

אִם

 

אֵינְכֶ֖ם

also if ye will not hearken

שֹׁמְעִ֣ים

 

אֵלָ֑י

 

וְאֶת

name

שֵׁ֤ם

ye my holy

קָדְשִׁי֙

 

לֹ֣א

unto me but pollute

תְחַלְּלוּ

 

ע֔וֹד

no more with your gifts

בְּמַתְּנֽוֹתֵיכֶ֖ם

and with your idols

וּבְגִלּוּלֵיכֶֽם׃

 

כִּ֣י

in the mountain

בְּהַ֣ר׀

For in mine holy

קָדְשֵׁיכֶֽם׃

in the mountain

בְּהַ֣ר׀

of the height

מְר֣וֹם

of Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל

saith

נְאֻם֙

the Lord

אֲדֹנָ֣י

GOD

יְהוִ֔ה

 

שָׁ֣ם

serve

יַעַבְדֻ֜נִי

 

כָּל

there shall all the house

בֵּ֧ית

of Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל

 

כֻּלֹּ֖ה

all of them in the land

בָּאָ֑רֶץ

 

שָׁ֣ם

me there will I accept

אֶרְצֵ֔ם

 

וְשָׁ֞ם

them and there will I require

אֶדְר֣וֹשׁ

 

אֶת

your offerings

תְּרוּמֹֽתֵיכֶ֗ם

 

וְאֶת

and the firstfruits

רֵאשִׁ֛ית

of your oblations

מַשְׂאוֹתֵיכֶ֖ם

 

בְּכָל

For in mine holy

קָדְשֵׁיכֶֽם׃

savour

בְּרֵ֣יחַ

you with your sweet

נִיחֹחַ֮

I will accept

אֶרְצֶ֣ה

 

אֶתְכֶם֒

when I bring you out

בְּהוֹצִיאִ֤י

 

אֶתְכֶם֙

 

מִן

from the people

הָ֣עַמִּ֔ים

and gather

וְקִבַּצְתִּ֣י

 

אֶתְכֶ֔ם

 

מִן

you out of the countries

הָ֣אֲרָצ֔וֹת

 

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

wherein ye have been scattered

נְפֹצֹתֶ֖ם

 

בָּ֑ם

and I will be sanctified

וְנִקְדַּשְׁתִּ֥י

 

בָכֶ֖ם

in you before

לְעֵינֵ֥י

the heathen

הַגּוֹיִֽם׃

And ye shall know

וִֽידַעְתֶּם֙

 

כִּֽי

 

אֲנִ֣י

that I am the LORD

יְהוָ֔ה

when I shall bring

בַּהֲבִיאִ֥י

 

אֶתְכֶ֖ם

 

אֶל

you into the land

אַדְמַ֣ת

of Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל

 

אֶל

into the country

הָאָ֗רֶץ

 

אֲשֶׁ֤ר

for the which I lifted up

נָשָׂ֙אתִי֙

 

אֶת

mine hand

יָדִ֔י

to give

לָתֵ֥ת

 

אוֹתָ֖הּ

it to your fathers

לַאֲבֽוֹתֵיכֶֽם׃

And there shall ye remember

וּזְכַרְתֶּם

 

שָׁ֗ם

 

אֶת

your ways

דַּרְכֵיכֶם֙

 

וְאֵת֙

 

כָּל

and all your doings

עֲלִיל֣וֹתֵיכֶ֔ם

 

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

wherein ye have been defiled

נִטְמֵאתֶ֖ם

 

בָּ֑ם

and ye shall lothe

וּנְקֹֽטֹתֶם֙

yourselves in your own sight

בִּפְנֵיכֶ֔ם

 

בְּכָל

for all your evils

רָעוֹתֵיכֶ֖ם

 

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

that ye have committed

עֲשִׂיתֶֽם׃

And ye shall know

וִֽידַעְתֶּם֙

 

כִּֽי

 

אֲנִ֣י

that I am the LORD

יְהוָ֔ה

when I have wrought

בַּעֲשׂוֹתִ֥י

 

אִתְּכֶ֖ם

 

לְמַ֣עַן

with you for my name's

שְׁמִ֑י

 

לֹא֩

ways

כְדַרְכֵיכֶ֨ם

sake not according to your wicked

הָרָעִ֜ים

doings

וְכַעֲלִילֽוֹתֵיכֶ֤ם

nor according to your corrupt

הַנִּשְׁחָתוֹת֙

O ye house

בֵּ֣ית

of Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל

saith

נְאֻ֖ם

the Lord

אֲדֹנָ֥י

GOD

יְהוִֽה׃

 

וַיְהִ֥י

Moreover the word

דְבַר

of the LORD

יְהוָ֖ה

 

אֵלַ֥י

came unto me saying

לֵאמֹֽר׃

Son

בֶּן

of man

אָדָ֗ם

set

שִׂ֤ים

thy face

פָּנֶ֙יךָ֙

toward

דֶּ֣רֶךְ

the south

תֵּימָ֔נָה

and drop

וְהַטֵּ֖ף

 

אֶל

thy word toward the south

דָּר֑וֹם

and prophesy

וְהִנָּבֵ֛א

 

אֶל

against the forest

יַ֥עַר

field

הַשָּׂדֶ֖ה

of the south

נֶֽגֶב׃

And say

אָמַ֣ר

to the forest

לְיַ֣עַר

from the south

מִנֶּ֥גֶב

Hear

שְׁמַ֖ע

the word

דְּבַר

of the LORD

יְהוָ֑ה

 

כֹּֽה

And say

אָמַ֣ר

the Lord

אֲדֹנָ֣י

GOD

יְהוִ֡ה

 

הִנְנִ֣י

Behold I will kindle

מַֽצִּית

 

בְּךָ֣׀

a fire

אֵ֡שׁ

in thee and it shall devour

וְאָכְלָ֣ה

 

בְךָ֣

 

כָל

tree

עֵ֨ץ

every green

לַח֩

 

וְכָל

tree

עֵ֨ץ

in thee and every dry

יָבֵ֤שׁ

 

לֹֽא

shall not be quenched

תִכְבֶּה֙

the flaming

לַהֶ֣בֶת

flame

שַׁלְהֶ֔בֶת

shall be burned

וְנִצְרְבוּ

 

בָ֥הּ

 

כָּל

and all faces

פָּנִ֖ים

from the south

מִנֶּ֥גֶב

to the north

צָפֽוֹנָה׃

shall see

וְרָאוּ֙

 

כָּל

And all flesh

בָּשָׂ֔ר

 

כִּ֛י

 

אֲנִ֥י

that I the LORD

יְהוָ֖ה

have kindled

בִּֽעַרְתִּ֑יהָ

 

לֹ֖א

it it shall not be quenched

תִּכְבֶּֽה׃

they say

אֹמְרִ֣ים

I Ah

אֲהָ֖הּ

Lord

אֲדֹנָ֣י

GOD

יְהוִ֑ה

 

הֵ֚מָּה

they say

אֹמְרִ֣ים

 

לִ֔י

 

הֲלֹ֛א

of me Doth he not speak

מְמַשֵּׁ֥ל

parables

מְשָׁלִ֖ים
