הַנַּֽעֲמָתִ֗י

Therefore do my thoughts

שְׂעִפַּ֣י

cause me to answer

יְשִׁיב֑וּנִי

 

וּ֝בַעֲב֗וּר

and for this I make haste

ח֣וּשִׁי

 

בִֽי׃

the check

מוּסַ֣ר

of my reproach

כְּלִמָּתִ֣י

I have heard

אֶשְׁמָ֑ע

and the spirit

וְ֝ר֗וּחַ

of my understanding

מִֽבִּינָתִ֥י

causeth me to answer

יַעֲנֵֽנִי׃

 

הֲזֹ֣את

Knowest

יָ֭דַעְתָּ

 

מִנִּי

thou not this of old

עַ֑ד

 

מִנִּ֤י

was placed

שִׂ֖ים

since man

אָדָ֣ם

 

עֲלֵי

upon earth

אָֽרֶץ׃

 

כִּ֤י

That the triumphing

רִנְנַ֣ת

of the wicked

רְ֭שָׁעִים

is short

מִקָּר֑וֹב

and the joy

וְשִׂמְחַ֖ת

of the hypocrite

חָנֵ֣ף

 

עֲדֵי

but for a moment

רָֽגַע׃

 

אִם

mount up

יַעֲלֶ֣ה

to the heavens

לַשָּׁמַ֣יִם

Though his excellency

שִׂיא֑וֹ

and his head

וְ֝רֹאשׁ֗וֹ

unto the clouds

לָעָ֥ב

reach

יַגִּֽיעַ׃

like his own dung

כְּֽ֭גֶלֲלוֹ

for ever

לָנֶ֣צַח

Yet he shall perish

יֹאבֵ֑ד

they which have seen

רֹ֝אָ֗יו

him shall say

יֹאמְר֥וּ

Where

אַיּֽוֹ׃

as a dream

כַּחֲל֣וֹם

He shall fly away

יָ֭עוּף

 

וְלֹ֣א

and shall not be found

יִמְצָא֑וּהוּ

yea he shall be chased away

וְ֝יֻדַּ֗ד

as a vision

כְּחֶזְי֥וֹן

of the night

לָֽיְלָה׃

The eye

עַ֣יִן

also which saw

שְׁ֭זָפַתּוּ

 

וְלֹ֣א

him shall see him no more

תוֹסִ֑יף

 

וְלֹא

 

ע֝֗וֹד

any more behold

תְּשׁוּרֶ֥נּוּ

neither shall his place

מְקוֹמֽוֹ׃

His children

בָּ֭נָיו

shall seek to please

יְרַצּ֣וּ

the poor

דַלִּ֑ים

and his hands

וְ֝יָדָ֗יו

shall restore

תָּשֵׁ֥בְנָה

their goods

אוֹנֽוֹ׃

His bones

עַ֭צְמוֹתָיו

are full

מָלְא֣וּ

of the sin of his youth

עֲלוּמָ֑יו

 

וְ֝עִמּ֗וֹ

 

עַל

with him in the dust

עָפָ֥ר

which shall lie down

תִּשְׁכָּֽב׃

 

אִם

be sweet

תַּמְתִּ֣יק

in his mouth

בְּפִ֣יו

Though wickedness

רָעָ֑ה

though he hide

יַ֝כְחִידֶ֗נָּה

 

תַּ֣חַת

it under his tongue

לְשֹׁנֽוֹ׃

Though he spare

יַחְמֹ֣ל

 

עָ֭לֶיהָ

 

וְלֹ֣א

it and forsake

יַֽעַזְבֶ֑נָּה

it not but keep it still

וְ֝יִמְנָעֶ֗נָּה

within

בְּת֣וֹךְ

his mouth

חִכּֽוֹ׃

Yet his meat

לַ֭חְמוֹ

in his bowels

בְּמֵעָ֣יו

is turned

נֶהְפָּ֑ךְ

it is the gall

מְרוֹרַ֖ת

of asps

פְּתָנִ֣ים

within

בְּקִרְבּֽוֹ׃

riches

חַ֣יִל

He hath swallowed down

בָּ֭לַע

and he shall vomit them up again

וַיְקִאֶ֑נּוּ

of his belly

מִ֝בִּטְנ֗וֹ

shall cast them out

יֹֽרִשֶׁ֥נּוּ

God

רֹאשׁ

of asps

פְּתָנִ֥ים

He shall suck

יִינָ֑ק

shall slay

תַּֽ֝הַרְגֵ֗הוּ

tongue

לְשׁ֣וֹן

the viper's

אַל

He shall not see

יֵ֥רֶא

the rivers

בִפְלַגּ֑וֹת

the floods

נַהֲרֵ֥י

the brooks

נַ֝חֲלֵ֗י

of honey

דְּבַ֣שׁ

and butter

וְחֶמְאָֽה׃

for shall he restore

מֵשִׁ֣יב

That which he laboured

יָ֭גָע

 

וְלֹ֣א

and shall not swallow it down

יִבְלָ֑ע

according to his substance

כְּחֵ֥יל

shall the restitution

תְּ֝מוּרָת֗וֹ

 

וְלֹ֣א

be and he shall not rejoice

יַעֲלֹֽס׃

 

כִּֽי

Because he hath oppressed

רִ֭צַּץ

and hath forsaken

עָזַ֣ב

the poor

דַּלִּ֑ים

an house

בַּ֥יִת

because he hath violently taken away

גָּ֝זַ֗ל

 

וְלֹ֣א

which he builded

יִבֶנֵֽהוּ׃

 

כִּ֤י׀

 

לֹא

Surely he shall not feel

יָדַ֣ע

quietness

שָׁלֵ֣ו

in his belly

בְּבִטְנ֑וֹ

of that which he desired

בַּ֝חֲמוּד֗וֹ

 

לֹ֣א

he shall not save

יְמַלֵּֽט׃

 

אֵין

be left

שָׂרִ֥יד

There shall none of his meat

לְאָכְל֑וֹ

 

עַל

 

כֵּ֝֗ן

 

לֹא

therefore shall no man look

יָחִ֥יל

for his goods

טוּבֽוֹ׃

In the fulness

בִּמְלֹ֣אות

of his sufficiency

שִׂ֭פְקוֹ

he shall be in straits

יֵ֣צֶר

 

ל֑וֹ

 

כָּל

every hand

יַ֖ד

of the wicked

עָמֵ֣ל

shall come

תְּבֹאֶֽנּוּ׃

 

יְהִ֤י׀

When he is about to fill

לְמַלֵּ֬א

his belly

בִטְנ֗וֹ

God shall cast

יְֽשַׁלַּח

 

בּ֭וֹ

the fury

חֲר֣וֹן

of his wrath

אַפּ֑וֹ

upon him and shall rain

וְיַמְטֵ֥ר

 

עָ֝לֵ֗ימוֹ

it upon him while he is eating

בִּלְחוּמֽוֹ׃

He shall flee

יִ֭בְרַח

weapon

מִנֵּ֣שֶׁק

from the iron

בַּרְזֶ֑ל

shall strike him through

תַּ֝חְלְפֵ֗הוּ

and the bow

קֶ֣שֶׁת

of steel

נְחוּשָֽׁה׃

It is drawn

שָׁלַף֮

and cometh out

וַיֵּצֵ֪א

of the body

מִגֵּ֫וָ֥ה

yea the glittering sword

וּ֭בָרָק

of his gall

מִֽמְּרֹרָת֥וֹ

cometh out

יַהֲלֹ֗ךְ

 

עָלָ֥יו

terrors

אֵמִֽים׃

 

כָּל

All darkness

חֹשֶׁךְ֮

shall be hid

טָמ֪וּן

in his secret places

לִצְפּ֫וּנָ֥יו

shall consume

תְּ֭אָכְלֵהוּ

a fire

אֵ֣שׁ

 

לֹֽא

not blown

נֻפָּ֑ח

him it shall go ill

יֵ֖רַע

with him that is left

שָׂרִ֣יד

in his tabernacle

בְּאָהֳלֽוֹ׃

shall reveal

יְגַלּ֣וּ

The heaven

שָׁמַ֣יִם

his iniquity

עֲוֹנ֑וֹ

and the earth

וְ֝אֶ֗רֶץ

shall rise up

מִתְקוֹמָ֘מָ֥ה

 

לֽוֹ׃

shall depart

יִ֭גֶל

The increase

יְב֣וּל

of his house

בֵּית֑וֹ

and his goods shall flow away

נִ֝גָּר֗וֹת

in the day

בְּי֣וֹם

of his wrath

אַפּֽוֹ׃

 

זֶ֤ה׀

This is the portion

חֵֽלֶק

man

אָדָ֣ם

of a wicked

רָ֭שָׁע

from God

מֵאֱלֹהִ֑ים

and the heritage

וְנַחֲלַ֖ת

appointed

אִמְר֣וֹ

unto him by God

מֵאֵֽל׃
