How long will ye vex

תּוֹגְי֣וּן

my soul

וּֽתְדַכְּאוּנַ֥נִי

me in pieces with words

בְמִלִּֽים׃

לֹֽא

me ye are not ashamed

תֵ֝בֹ֗שׁוּ

וְאַף

And be it indeed

אָמְנָ֥ם

that I have erred

שָׁגִ֑יתִי

 

אִ֝תִּ֗י

remaineth

תָּלִ֥ין

mine error

מְשׁוּגָתִֽי׃

 

אִם

If indeed

אָ֭מְנָם

 

עָלַ֣י

ye will magnify

תַּגְדִּ֑ילוּ

yourselves against me and plead

וְתוֹכִ֥יחוּ

 

עָ֝לַ֗י

against me my reproach

חֶרְפָּתִּֽי׃

Know

דְּֽעוּ

now

אֵ֭פוֹ

 

כִּי

that God

אֱל֣וֹהַּ

hath overthrown

עִוְּתָ֑נִי

me with his net

וּ֝מְצוּד֗וֹ

 

עָלַ֥י

me and hath compassed

הִקִּֽיף׃

 

הֵ֤ן

Behold I cry out

אֶצְעַ֣ק

of wrong

חָ֭מָס

 

וְלֹ֣א

but I am not heard

אֵעָנֶ֑ה

I cry aloud

אֲ֝שַׁוַּ֗ע

 

וְאֵ֣ין

but there is no judgment

מִשְׁפָּֽט׃

my way

אָרְחִ֣י

He hath fenced up

גָ֭דַר

 

וְלֹ֣א

that I cannot pass

אֶעֱב֑וֹר

 

וְעַ֥ל

in my paths

נְ֝תִיבוֹתַ֗י

darkness

חֹ֣שֶׁךְ

and he hath set

יָשִֽׂים׃

me of my glory

כְּ֭בוֹדִי

 

מֵעָלַ֣י

He hath stripped

הִפְשִׁ֑יט

and taken

וַ֝יָּ֗סַר

the crown

עֲטֶ֣רֶת

from my head

רֹאשִֽׁי׃

He hath destroyed

יִתְּצֵ֣נִי

me on every side

סָ֭בִיב

 

וָאֵלַ֑ךְ

hath he removed

וַיַּסַּ֥ע

like a tree

כָּ֝עֵ֗ץ

and mine hope

תִּקְוָתִֽי׃

He hath also kindled

וַיַּ֣חַר

 

עָלַ֣י

his wrath

אַפּ֑וֹ

against me and he counteth

וַיַּחְשְׁבֵ֖נִי

 

ל֣וֹ

me unto him as one of his enemies

כְצָרָֽיו׃

together

יַ֤חַד׀

come

יָ֘בֹ֤אוּ

His troops

גְדוּדָ֗יו

and raise up

וַיָּסֹ֣לּוּ

 

עָלַ֣י

their way

דַּרְכָּ֑ם

against me and encamp

וַיַּחֲנ֖וּ

round about

סָבִ֣יב

my tabernacle

לְאָהֳלִֽי׃

my brethren

אַ֭חַי

 

מֵעָלַ֣י

He hath put

הִרְחִ֑יק

from me and mine acquaintance

וְ֝יֹדְעַ֗י

 

אַךְ

are verily estranged

זָ֥רוּ

 

מִמֶּֽנִּי׃

have failed

חָדְל֥וּ

My kinsfolk

קְרוֹבָ֑י

and my familiar friends

וּֽמְיֻדָּעַ֥י

have forgotten

שְׁכֵחֽוּנִי׃

They that dwell

גָּ֘רֵ֤י

in mine house

בֵיתִ֣י

and my maids

וְ֭אַמְהֹתַי

me for a stranger

לְזָ֣ר

count

תַּחְשְׁבֻ֑נִי

I am an alien

נָ֝כְרִ֗י

 

הָיִ֥יתִי

in their sight

בְעֵינֵיהֶֽם׃

my servant

לְעַבְדִּ֣י

I called

קָ֭רָאתִי

 

וְלֹ֣א

and he gave me no answer

יַעֲנֶ֑ה

him with

בְּמוֹ

my mouth

פִ֝֗י

I intreated

אֶתְחַנֶּן

 

לֽוֹ׃

My breath

ר֭וּחִֽי

is strange

זָ֣רָה

to my wife

לְאִשְׁתִּ֑י

 

וְ֝חַנֹּתִ֗י

for the children's

לִבְנֵ֥י

sake of mine own body

בִטְנִֽי׃

 

גַּם

Yea young children

עֲ֭וִילִים

despised

מָ֣אֲסוּ

 

בִ֑י

me I arose

אָ֝ק֗וּמָה

and they spake

וַיְדַבְּרוּ

 

בִֽי׃

abhorred

תִּֽ֭עֲבוּנִי

 

כָּל

friends

מְתֵ֣י

All my inward

סוֹדִ֑י

 

וְזֶֽה

me and they whom I loved

אָ֝הַ֗בְתִּי

are turned

נֶהְפְּכוּ

 

בִֽי׃

to my skin

בְּע֣וֹר

and to my flesh

וּ֭בִבְשָׂרִי

cleaveth

דָּבְקָ֣ה

My bone

עַצְמִ֑י

and I am escaped

וָ֝אֶתְמַלְּטָ֗ה

to my skin

בְּע֣וֹר

of my teeth

שִׁנָּֽי׃

Have pity

חָנֻּ֣נִי

Have pity

אַתֶּ֣ם

upon me O ye my friends

רֵעָ֑י

 

כִּ֥י

for the hand

יַד

of God

אֱ֝ל֗וֹהַּ

hath touched

נָ֣גְעָה

לָ֭מָּה

Why do ye persecute

תִּרְדְּפֻ֣נִי

 

כְמוֹ

me as God

אֵ֑ל

with my flesh

וּ֝מִבְּשָׂרִ֗י

 

לֹ֣א

and are not satisfied

תִשְׂבָּֽעוּ׃

 

מִֽי

oh that

יִתֵּ֖ן

were now

אֵ֭פוֹ

written

וְיִכָּתְב֣וּן

my words

מִלָּ֑י

 

מִֽי

oh that

יִתֵּ֖ן

in a book

בַּסֵּ֣פֶר

they were printed

וְיֻחָֽקוּ׃

pen

בְּעֵט

with an iron

בַּרְזֶ֥ל

and lead

וְעֹפָ֑רֶת

for ever

לָ֝עַ֗ד

in the rock

בַּצּ֥וּר

That they were graven

יֵחָצְבֽוּן׃

 

וַאֲנִ֣י

For I know

יָ֭דַעְתִּי

that my redeemer

גֹּ֣אֲלִי

liveth

חָ֑י

at the latter

וְ֝אַחֲר֗וֹן

 

עַל

day upon the earth

עָפָ֥ר

and that he shall stand

יָקֽוּם׃

And though after

וְאַחַ֣ר

my skin

ע֭וֹרִֽי

worms destroy

נִקְּפוּ

 

זֹ֑את

this body yet in my flesh

וּ֝מִבְּשָׂרִ֗י

shall I see

אֶֽחֱזֶ֥ה

God

אֱלֽוֹהַּ׃

 

אֲשֶׁ֤ר

 

אֲנִ֨י׀

Whom I shall see

אֶֽחֱזֶה

 

לִּ֗י

for myself and mine eyes

וְעֵינַ֣י

shall behold

רָא֣וּ

 

וְלֹא

and not another

זָ֑ר

be consumed

כָּל֖וּ

though my reins

כִלְיֹתַ֣י

within

בְּחֵקִֽי׃

 

כִּ֣י

But ye should say

תֹ֭אמְרוּ

 

מַה

Why persecute

נִּרְדָּף

 

ל֑וֹ

we him seeing the root

וְשֹׁ֥רֶשׁ

of the matter

דָּ֝בָ֗ר

is found

נִמְצָא

 

בִֽי׃

Be ye afraid

גּ֤וּרוּ

 

לָכֶ֨ם׀

מִפְּנֵי

of the sword

חָ֑רֶב

 

כִּֽי

for wrath

חֵ֭מָה

bringeth the punishments

עֲוֹנ֣וֹת

of the sword

חָ֑רֶב

 

לְמַ֖עַן

that ye may know

תֵּדְע֣וּן

there is a judgment
