וַיֹּ֣סֶף
Moreover Job
אִ֭יּוֹב

שְׂאֵ֥ת
his parable
מְשָׁל֗וֹ
and said
וַיֹּאמַֽר׃
2

מִֽי
Oh that
יִתְּנֵ֥נִי
I were as in months
כְיַרְחֵי
past
קֶ֑דֶם
as in the days
כִּ֝ימֵ֗י
when God
אֱל֣וֹהַּ
preserved
יִשְׁמְרֵֽנִי׃
3
shined
בְּהִלּ֣וֹ
When his candle
נֵ֭רוֹ

עֲלֵ֣י
upon my head
רֹאשִׁ֑י
and when by his light
לְ֝אוֹרוֹ

אֵ֣לֶךְ
through darkness
חֹֽשֶׁךְ׃
4

כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר

הָ֭יִיתִי
As I was in the days
בִּימֵ֣י
of my youth
חָרְפִּ֑י
when the secret
בְּס֥וֹד
of God
אֱ֝ל֗וֹהַּ

עֲלֵ֣י
was upon my tabernacle
אָהֳלִֽי׃
5

בְּע֣וֹד
When the Almighty
שַׁ֭דַּי

עִמָּדִ֑י
were about
סְבִ֖יבוֹתַ֣י
was yet with me when my children
נְעָרָֽי׃
6
When I washed
בִּרְחֹ֣ץ
my steps
הֲלִיכַ֣י
with butter
בְּחֵמָ֑ה
and the rock
וְצ֥וּר
poured me out
יָצ֥וּק

עִ֝מָּדִ֗י
rivers
פַּלְגֵי
of oil
שָֽׁמֶן׃
7
When I went out
בְּצֵ֣אתִי
to the gate
שַׁ֣עַר

עֲלֵי
through the city
קָ֑רֶת
in the street
בָּ֝רְח֗וֹב
when I prepared
אָכִ֥ין
my seat
מוֹשָׁבִֽי׃
8
saw
רָא֣וּנִי
The young men
נְעָרִ֣ים
me and hid
וְנֶחְבָּ֑אוּ
themselves and the aged
וִֽ֝ישִׁישִׁים
arose
קָ֣מוּ
and stood up
עָמָֽדוּ׃
9
The princes
שָׂ֭רִים
refrained
עָצְר֣וּ
talking
בְמִלִּ֑ים
their hand
וְ֝כַ֗ף
and laid
יָשִׂ֥ימוּ
on their mouth
לְפִיהֶֽם׃
10
their peace
קוֹל
The nobles
נְגִידִ֥ים
held
נֶחְבָּ֑אוּ
and their tongue
וּ֝לְשׁוֹנָ֗ם
to the roof of their mouth
לְחִכָּ֥ם
cleaved
דָּבֵֽקָה׃
11

כִּ֤י
When the ear
אֹ֣זֶן
heard
שָׁ֭מְעָה
me then it blessed
וַֽתְּאַשְּׁרֵ֑נִי
me and when the eye
וְעַ֥יִן
saw
רָ֝אֲתָ֗ה
me it gave witness
וַתְּעִידֵֽנִי׃
12

כִּֽי
Because I delivered
אֲ֭מַלֵּט
the poor
עָנִ֣י
that cried
מְשַׁוֵּ֑עַ
and the fatherless
וְ֝יָת֗וֹם

וְֽלֹא
and him that had none to help
עֹזֵ֥ר

לֽוֹ׃
13
The blessing
בִּרְכַּ֣ת
of him that was ready to perish
אֹ֭בֵד

עָלַ֣י
came
תָּבֹ֑א
heart
וְלֵ֖ב
upon me and I caused the widow's
אַלְמָנָ֣ה
to sing for joy
אַרְנִֽן׃
14
on righteousness
צֶ֣דֶק
I put
וַיִּלְבָּשֵׁ֑נִי
I put
וַיִּלְבָּשֵׁ֑נִי
was as a robe
כִּמְעִ֥יל
and a diadem
וְ֝צָנִ֗יף
me my judgment
מִשְׁפָּטִֽי׃
15
I was eyes
עֵינַ֣יִם

הָ֭יִיתִי
to the blind
לַֽעִוֵּ֑ר
and feet
וְרַגְלַ֖יִם
was I to the lame
לַפִּסֵּ֣חַ

אָֽנִי׃
16
I was a father
אָ֣ב

אָ֭נֹכִֽי
to the poor
לָֽאֶבְיוֹנִ֑ים
and the cause
וְרִ֖ב

לֹא
which I knew
יָדַ֣עְתִּי
not I searched out
אֶחְקְרֵֽהוּ׃
17
And I brake
וָֽ֭אֲשַׁבְּרָה
the jaws
מְתַלְּע֣וֹת
of the wicked
עַוָּ֑ל
out of his teeth
וּ֝מִשִּׁנָּ֗יו
and plucked
אַשְׁלִ֥יךְ
the spoil
טָֽרֶף׃
18
Then I said
וָ֭אֹמַר

עִם
in my nest
קִנִּ֣י
I shall die
אֶגְוָ֑ע
as the sand
וְ֝כַח֗וֹל
and I shall multiply
אַרְבֶּ֥ה
my days
יָמִֽים׃
19
My root
שָׁרְשִׁ֣י
was spread out
פָת֣וּחַ

אֱלֵי
by the waters
מָ֑יִם
and the dew
וְ֝טַ֗ל
lay all night
יָלִ֥ין
upon my branch
בִּקְצִירִֽי׃
20
My glory
כְּ֭בוֹדִי
was fresh
חָדָ֣שׁ
in me
עִמָּדִ֑י
and my bow
וְ֝קַשְׁתִּ֗י
in my hand
בְּיָדִ֥י
was renewed
תַחֲלִֽיף׃
21

לִֽי
Unto me men gave ear
שָׁמְע֥וּ
and waited
וְיִחֵ֑לּוּ
and kept silence
וְ֝יִדְּמ֗וּ
at
לְמ֣וֹ
my counsel
עֲצָתִֽי׃
22
After
אַחֲרֵ֣י
my words
דְ֭בָרִי

לֹ֣א
they spake not again
יִשְׁנ֑וּ

וְ֝עָלֵ֗ימוֹ
dropped
תִּטֹּ֥ף
and my speech
מִלָּתִֽי׃
23
And they waited
וְיִֽחֲל֣וּ
for me as for the rain
כַמָּטָ֣ר

לִ֑י
their mouth
וּ֝פִיהֶ֗ם
and they opened
פָּעֲר֥וּ
wide as for the latter rain
לְמַלְקֽוֹשׁ׃
24
If I laughed
אֶשְׂחַ֣ק

אֲ֭לֵהֶם

לֹ֣א
on them they believed
יַאֲמִ֑ינוּ
it not and the light
וְא֥וֹר
of my countenance
פָּ֝נַ֗י

לֹ֣א
they cast not down
יַפִּילֽוּן׃
25
I chose
אֶֽבֲחַ֣ר
out their way
דַּרְכָּם֮
and sat
וְאֵשֵׁ֪ב
chief
רֹ֥אשׁ
and dwelt
וְ֭אֶשְׁכּוֹן
as a king
כְּמֶ֣לֶךְ
in the army
בַּגְּד֑וּד

כַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר
the mourners
אֲבֵלִ֣ים
as one that comforteth
יְנַחֵֽם׃
