אֱלִיה֗וּ

הֲ֭זֹאת

Thinkest

חָשַׁ֣בְתָּ

thou this to be right

לְמִשְׁפָּ֑ט

that thou saidst

אָ֝מַ֗רְתָּ

My righteousness

צִדְקִ֥י

is more than God's

מֵאֵֽל׃

 

כִּֽי

For thou saidst

תֹ֭אמַר

What advantage

יִּסְכָּן

 

לָ֑ךְ

 

מָֽה

will it be unto thee and What profit

אֹ֝עִ֗יל

shall I have if I be cleansed from my sin

מֵֽחַטָּאתִֽי׃

 

אֲ֭נִי

I will answer

אֲשִֽׁיבְךָ֣

 

מִלִּ֑ין

 

וְֽאֶת

thee and thy companions

רֵעֶ֥יךָ

 

עִמָּֽךְ׃

Look

הַבֵּ֣ט

unto the heavens

שָׁמַ֣יִם

and see

וּרְאֵ֑ה

and behold

וְשׁ֥וּר

the clouds

שְׁ֝חָקִ֗ים

which are higher

גָּבְה֥וּ

 

מִמֶּֽךָּ׃

 

אִם

If thou sinnest

חָ֭טָאתָ

 

מַה

what doest

תִּפְעָל

 

בּ֑וֹ

be multiplied

וְרַבּ֥וּ

thou against him or if thy transgressions

פְ֝שָׁעֶ֗יךָ

 

מַה

what doest

תַּעֲשֶׂה

 

לּֽוֹ׃

 

אִם

If thou be righteous

צָ֭דַקְתָּ

 

מַה

what givest

תִּתֶּן

 

ל֑וֹ

 

א֥וֹ

 

מַה

he of thine hand

מִיָּדְךָ֥

thou him or what receiveth

יִקָּֽח׃

may hurt a man

לְאִישׁ

 

כָּמ֥וֹךָ

Thy wickedness

רִשְׁעֶ֑ךָ

may profit the son

וּלְבֶן

of man

אָ֝דָ֗ם

as thou art and thy righteousness

צִדְקָתֶֽךָ׃

By reason of the multitude

מֵ֭רֹב

of oppressions

עֲשׁוּקִ֣ים

they make the oppressed to cry

יַזְעִ֑יקוּ

they cry out

יְשַׁוְּע֖וּ

by reason of the arm

מִזְּר֣וֹעַ

of the mighty

רַבִּֽים׃

 

וְֽלֹא

But none saith

אָמַ֗ר

 

אַ֭יֵּה

Where is God

אֱל֣וֹהַּ

my maker

עֹשָׂ֑י

who giveth

נֹתֵ֖ן

songs

זְמִר֣וֹת

in the night

בַּלָּֽיְלָה׃

Who teacheth

מַ֭לְּפֵנוּ

us more than the beasts

מִבַּהֲמ֣וֹת

of the earth

אָ֑רֶץ

than the fowls

וּמֵע֖וֹף

of heaven

הַשָּׁמַ֣יִם

and maketh us wiser

יְחַכְּמֵֽנוּ׃

 

שָׁ֣ם

There they cry

יִ֭צְעֲקוּ

 

וְלֹ֣א

but none giveth answer

יַעֲנֶ֑ה

because

מִ֝פְּנֵ֗י

of the pride

גְּא֣וֹן

of evil men

רָעִֽים׃

 

אַךְ

vanity

שָׁ֭וְא

 

לֹא

will not hear

יִשְׁמַ֥ע׀

Surely God

אֵ֑ל

neither will the Almighty

וְ֝שַׁדַּ֗י

 

לֹ֣א

regard

יְשׁוּרֶֽנָּה׃

Although

אַ֣ף

 

כִּֽי

thou sayest

תֹ֭אמַר

 

לֹ֣א

thou shalt not see

תְשׁוּרֶ֑נּוּ

him yet judgment

דִּ֥ין

is before

לְ֝פָנָ֗יו

him therefore trust

וּתְח֥וֹלֵֽל

 

לֽוֹ׃

 

וְעַתָּ֗ה

 

כִּי

 

אַ֭יִן

But now because it is not so he hath visited

פָּקַ֣ד

in his anger

אַפּ֑וֹ

 

וְלֹֽא

yet he knoweth

יָדַ֖ע

extremity

בַּפַּ֣שׁ

it not in great

מְאֹֽד׃

Therefore doth Job

וְ֭אִיּוֹב

in vain

הֶ֣בֶל

open

יִפְצֶה

his mouth

פִּ֑יהוּ

without

בִּבְלִי

knowledge

דַ֝֗עַת

words

מִלִּ֥ין

he multiplieth

יַכְבִּֽר׃
