ע֖וֹד

on God's

לֶאֱל֣וֹהַּ

thee that I have yet to speak

מִלִּֽים׃

I will fetch

אֶשָּׂ֣א

my knowledge

דֵ֭עִי

from afar

לְמֵרָח֑וֹק

to my Maker

וּ֝לְפֹעֲלִ֗י

and will ascribe

אֶֽתֵּֽן

righteousness

צֶֽדֶק׃

 

כִּֽי

For truly

אָ֭מְנָם

 

לֹא

shall not be false

שֶׁ֣קֶר

my words

מִלָּ֑י

he that is perfect

תְּמִ֖ים

in knowledge

דֵּע֣וֹת

 

עִמָּֽךְ׃

 

הֶן

Behold God

אֵ֣ל

is mighty

כַּ֝בִּ֗יר

 

וְלֹ֣א

and despiseth

יִמְאָ֑ס

is mighty

כַּ֝בִּ֗יר

in strength

כֹּ֣חַֽ

and wisdom

לֵֽב׃

 

לֹא

He preserveth not the life

יְחַיֶּ֥ה

of the wicked

רָשָׁ֑ע

right

וּמִשְׁפַּ֖ט

to the poor

עֲנִיִּ֣ים

but giveth

יִתֵּֽן׃

 

לֹֽא

He withdraweth

יִגְרַ֥ע

from the righteous

מִצַּדִּ֗יק

not his eyes

עֵ֫ינָ֥יו

 

וְאֶת

but with kings

מְלָכִ֥ים

are they on the throne

לַכִּסֵּ֑א

yea he doth establish

וַיֹּשִׁיבֵ֥ם

them for ever

לָ֝נֶ֗צַח

and they are exalted

וַיִּגְבָּֽהוּ׃

 

וְאִם

And if they be bound

אֲסוּרִ֥ים

in fetters

בַּזִּקִּ֑ים

and be holden

יִ֝לָּכְד֗וּן

in cords

בְּחַבְלֵי

of affliction

עֹֽנִי׃

Then he sheweth

וַיַּגֵּ֣ד

 

לָהֶ֣ם

them their work

פָּעֳלָ֑ם

and their transgressions

וּ֝פִשְׁעֵיהֶ֗ם

 

כִּ֣י

that they have exceeded

יִתְגַּבָּֽרוּ׃

He openeth

וַיִּ֣גֶל

also their ear

אָ֭זְנָם

to discipline

לַמּוּסָ֑ר

and commandeth

וַ֝יֹּ֗אמֶר

 

כִּֽי

that they return

יְשֻׁב֥וּן

from iniquity

מֵאָֽוֶן׃

 

אִֽם

If they obey

יִשְׁמְע֗וּ

and serve

וְֽיַ֫עֲבֹ֥דוּ

him they shall spend

יְכַלּ֣וּ

their days

יְמֵיהֶ֣ם

in prosperity

בַּטּ֑וֹב

and their years

וּ֝שְׁנֵיהֶ֗ם

in pleasures

בַּנְּעִימִֽים׃

 

וְאִם

 

לֹ֣א

But if they obey

יִ֭שְׁמְעוּ

by the sword

בְּשֶׁ֣לַח

not they shall perish

יַעֲבֹ֑רוּ

and they shall die

וְ֝יִגְוְע֗וּ

 

בִּבְלִי

without knowledge

דָֽעַת׃

But the hypocrites

וְֽחַנְפֵי

in heart

לֵ֭ב

heap up

יָשִׂ֣ימוּ

wrath

אָ֑ף

 

לֹ֥א

they cry

יְ֝שַׁוְּע֗וּ

 

כִּ֣י

not when he bindeth

אֲסָרָֽם׃

die

תָּמֹ֣ת

in youth

בַּנֹּ֣עַר

They

נַפְשָׁ֑ם

and their life

וְ֝חַיָּתָ֗ם

is among the unclean

בַּקְּדֵשִֽׁים׃

He delivereth

יְחַלֵּ֣ץ

the poor

עָנִ֣י

in his affliction

בְעָנְי֑וֹ

and openeth

וְיִ֖גֶל

in oppression

בַּלַּ֣חַץ

their ears

אָזְנָֽם׃

 

וְאַ֤ף

Even so would he have removed

הֲסִיתְךָ֙׀

thee out of the strait

מִפִּי

 

צָ֗ר

into a broad place

רַ֭חַב

 

לֹא

there is no straitness

מוּצָ֣ק

where

תַּחְתֶּ֑יהָ

and that which should be set

וְנַ֥חַת

on thy table

שֻׁ֝לְחָנְךָ֗

should be full

מָ֣לֵא

of fatness

דָֽשֶׁן׃

judgment

דִּ֖ין

of the wicked

רָשָׁ֥ע

But thou hast fulfilled

מָלֵ֑אתָ

judgment

דִּ֖ין

and justice

וּמִשְׁפָּ֣ט

take hold

יִתְמֹֽכוּ׃

 

כִּֽי

Because there is wrath

חֵ֭מָה

 

פֶּן

beware lest he take thee away

יְסִֽיתְךָ֣

with his stroke

בְסָ֑פֶק

 

וְרָב

ransom

כֹּ֝֗פֶר

 

אַל

cannot deliver

יַטֶּֽךָּ׃

Will he esteem

הֲיַעֲרֹ֣ךְ

thy riches

שׁ֭וּעֲךָ

 

לֹ֣א

no not gold

בְצָ֑ר

 

וְ֝כֹ֗ל

nor all the forces

מַאֲמַצֵּי

of strength

כֹֽחַ׃

 

אַל

Desire

תִּשְׁאַ֥ף

not the night

הַלָּ֑יְלָה

are cut off

לַעֲל֖וֹת

when people

עַמִּ֣ים

 

תַּחְתָּֽם׃

Take heed

הִ֭שָּׁמֶר

regard

תֵּ֣פֶן

not iniquity

Thou hast wrought

Every man

Behold God

אֵ֣ל

is great

שַׂ֭גִּיא

 

וְלֹ֣א

and we know

נֵדָ֑ע

him not neither can the number

מִסְפַּ֖ר

of his years

שָׁנָ֣יו

 

וְלֹא

be searched out

חֵֽקֶר׃

 

כִּ֭י

For he maketh small

יְגָרַ֣ע

the drops

נִטְפֵי

of water

מָ֑יִם

they pour down

יָזֹ֖קּוּ

rain

מָטָ֣ר

according to the vapour

לְאֵדֽוֹ׃

 

אֲשֶֽׁר

do drop

יִזְּל֥וּ

Which the clouds

שְׁחָקִ֑ים

and distil

יִ֝רְעֲפ֗וּ

 

עֲלֵ֤י׀

upon man

אָדָ֬ם

abundantly

אִם

Also can any understand

יָ֭בִין

the spreadings

מִפְרְשֵׂי

of the clouds

עָ֑ב

or the noise

תְּ֝שֻׁא֗וֹת

of his tabernacle

סֻכָּתֽוֹ׃

 

הֵן

Behold he spreadeth

פָּרַ֣שׂ

 

עָלָ֣יו

his light

אוֹר֑וֹ

the bottom

וְשָׁרְשֵׁ֖י

of the sea

הַיָּ֣ם

upon it and covereth

כִּסָּֽה׃

 

כִּי

 

בָ֭ם

For by them judgeth

יָדִ֣ין

he the people

עַמִּ֑ים

he giveth

יִֽתֶּן

meat

אֹ֥כֶל

in abundance

לְמַכְבִּֽיר׃

 

עַל

With clouds

כַּפַּ֥יִם

he covereth

כִּסָּה

the light

א֑וֹר

and commandeth

וַיְצַ֖ו

 

עָלֶ֣יהָ

it not to shine by the cloud that cometh betwixt

בְמַפְגִּֽיעַ׃

concerning it the cattle
