בֶן

in my house

בֵּיתִ֖י

וְהִנֵּ֨ה

And behold the word

דְבַר

of the LORD

יְהוָ֤ה

 

אֵלָיו֙

came unto him saying

לֵאמֹ֔ר

 

לֹ֥א

This shall not be thine heir

יִֽירָשֶֽׁךָ׃

 

זֶ֑ה

 

כִּי

 

אִם֙

 

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

but he that shall come forth

יֵצֵ֣א

out of thine own bowels

מִמֵּעֶ֔יךָ

 

ה֖וּא

This shall not be thine heir

יִֽירָשֶֽׁךָ׃

And he brought him forth

וַיּוֹצֵ֨א

 

אֹת֜וֹ

abroad

הַח֗וּצָה

and said

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר

Look

הַבֶּט

 

נָ֣א

now toward heaven

הַשָּׁמַ֗יְמָה

and tell

לִסְפֹּ֣ר

the stars

הַכּ֣וֹכָבִ֔ים

 

אִם

if thou be able

תּוּכַ֖ל

and tell

לִסְפֹּ֣ר

 

אֹתָ֑ם

and said

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר

 

ל֔וֹ

unto him So

כֹּ֥ה

 

יִֽהְיֶ֖ה

shall thy seed

זַרְעֶֽךָ׃

And he believed

וְהֶֽאֱמִ֖ן

in the LORD

בַּֽיהוָ֑ה

and he counted

וַיַּחְשְׁבֶ֥הָ

 

לּ֖וֹ

it to him for righteousness

צְדָקָֽה׃

And he said

וַיֹּ֖אמֶר

 

אֵלָ֑יו

 

אֲנִ֣י

unto him I am the LORD

יְהוָ֗ה

 

אֲשֶׁ֤ר

that brought thee out

הֽוֹצֵאתִ֙יךָ֙

of Ur

מֵא֣וּר

of the Chaldees

כַּשְׂדִּ֔ים

לְרִשְׁתָּֽהּ׃

And he said

וַיֹּאמַ֑ר

Lord

אֲדֹנָ֣י

 

יֱהוִ֔ה

בַּמָּ֥ה

shall I know

אֵדַ֖ע

 

כִּ֥י

that I shall inherit it

אִֽירָשֶֽׁנָּה׃

And he said

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר

 

אֵלָ֗יו

unto him Take

קְחָ֥ה

 

לִי֙

me an heifer

עֶגְלָ֣ה

of three years old

מְשֻׁלָּ֑שׁ

and a she goat

וְעֵ֥ז

of three years old

מְשֻׁלָּ֑שׁ

and a ram

וְאַ֣יִל

of three years old

מְשֻׁלָּ֑שׁ

and a turtledove

וְתֹ֖ר

and a young pigeon

וְגוֹזָֽל׃

And he took

וַיִּֽקַּֽח

upon the carcases

drove them away

And when the sun

הַשֶּׁ֙מֶשׁ֙

was going down

לָב֔וֹא

a deep sleep

וְתַרְדֵּמָ֖ה

fell

נֹפֶ֥לֶת

upon Abram

אַבְרָ֑ם

 

וְהִנֵּ֥ה

and lo an horror

אֵימָ֛ה

darkness

חֲשֵׁכָ֥ה

גְדֹלָ֖ה

עָלָֽיו׃

And he said

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר

unto Abram

לְאַבְרָ֗ם

Know

תֵּדַ֜ע

כִּי

shall be a stranger

גֵ֣ר׀

 

יִֽהְיֶ֣ה

that thy seed

זַרְעֲךָ֗

in a land

בְּאֶ֙רֶץ֙

 

לֹ֣א

 

לָהֶ֔ם

that is not theirs and shall serve

וַֽעֲבָד֖וּם

them and they shall afflict

וְעִנּ֣וּ

 

אֹתָ֑ם
