the LORD

his going forth

מֹֽצָא֑וֹ

and he shall come

וְיָב֤וֹא

unto us as the rain

כַגֶּ֙שֶׁם֙

 

לָ֔נוּ

as the latter

כְּמַלְק֖וֹשׁ

 

י֥וֹרֶה

unto the earth

אָֽרֶץ׃

 

מָ֤ה

what shall I do

אֶעֱשֶׂה

 

לְּךָ֙

O Ephraim

אֶפְרַ֔יִם

 

מָ֥ה

what shall I do

אֶעֱשֶׂה

 

לְּךָ֖

unto thee O Judah

יְהוּדָ֑ה

unto thee for your goodness

וְחַסְדְּכֶם֙

cloud

כַּֽעֲנַן

is as a morning

בֹּ֔קֶר

dew

וְכַטַּ֖ל

and as the early

מַשְׁכִּ֥ים

it goeth away

הֹלֵֽךְ׃

 

עַל

 

כֵּ֗ן

Therefore have I hewed

חָצַ֙בְתִּי֙

them by the prophets

בַּנְּבִיאִ֔ים

I have slain

הֲרַגְתִּ֖ים

them by the words

בְּאִמְרֵי

of my mouth

פִ֑י

and thy judgments

וּמִשְׁפָּטֶ֖יךָ

are as the light

א֥וֹר

that goeth forth

יֵצֵֽא׃

 

כִּ֛י

mercy

חֶ֥סֶד

For I desired

חָפַ֖צְתִּי

 

וְלֹא

and not sacrifice

זָ֑בַח

and the knowledge

וְדַ֥עַת

of God

אֱלֹהִ֖ים

more than burnt offerings

מֵעֹלֽוֹת׃

 

וְהֵ֕מָּה

But they like men

כְּאָדָ֖ם

have transgressed

עָבְר֣וּ

the covenant

בְרִ֑ית

 

שָׁ֖ם

there have they dealt treacherously

בָּ֥גְדוּ

 

בִֽי׃

Gilead

גִּלְעָ֕ד

is a city

קִרְיַ֖ת

of them that work

פֹּ֣עֲלֵי

iniquity

אָ֑וֶן

and is polluted

עֲקֻבָּ֖ה

with blood

מִדָּֽם׃

of robbers wait

וּכְחַכֵּ֨י

for a man

אִ֜ישׁ

And as troops

גְּדוּדִ֗ים

so the company

חֶ֚בֶר

of priests

כֹּֽהֲנִ֔ים

in the way

דֶּ֖רֶךְ

murder

יְרַצְּחוּ

by consent

שֶׁ֑כְמָה

 

כִּ֥י

lewdness

זִמָּ֖ה

for they commit

עָשֽׂוּ׃

in the house

בְּבֵית֙

Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

I have seen

רָאִ֖יתִי

an horrible thing

שַׁעֲרֽיּרִיָּ֑ה

 

שָׁ֚ם

there is the whoredom

זְנ֣וּת

of Ephraim

לְאֶפְרַ֔יִם

is defiled

נִטְמָ֖א

Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

 

גַּם

Also O Judah

יְהוּדָ֕ה

he hath set

שָׁ֥ת

an harvest

קָצִ֖יר

 

לָ֑ךְ

for thee when I returned

בְּשׁוּבִ֖י

the captivity

שְׁב֥וּת

of my people

עַמִּֽי׃
