אֱלִיפַ֥ז

הַֽתֵּמָנִ֗י

to the Almighty

לְ֭שַׁדַּי

 

כִּ֣י

that thou art righteous

תִצְדָּ֑ק

 

וְאִם

or is it gain

בֶּ֝֗צַע

 

כִּֽי

perfect

תַתֵּ֥ם

to him that thou makest thy ways

דְּרָכֶֽיךָ׃

thee for fear

הֲֽ֭מִיִּרְאָ֣תְךָ

Will he reprove

יֹכִיחֶ֑ךָ

of thee will he enter

יָב֥וֹא

 

עִ֝מְּךָ֗

with thee into judgment

בַּמִּשְׁפָּֽט׃

 

הֲלֹ֣א

Is not thy wickedness

רָעָֽתְךָ֣

great

רַבָּ֑ה

 

וְאֵֽין

infinite

קֵ֝֗ץ

and thine iniquities

לַעֲוֺנֹתֶֽיךָ׃

 

כִּֽי

For thou hast taken a pledge

תַחְבֹּ֣ל

from thy brother

אַחֶ֣יךָ

for nought

חִנָּ֑ם

of their clothing

וּבִגְדֵ֖י

the naked

עֲרוּמִּ֣ים

and stripped

תַּפְשִֽׁיט׃

 

לֹא

Thou hast not given water

מַ֭יִם

to the weary

עָיֵ֣ף

to drink

תַּשְׁקֶ֑ה

from the hungry

וּ֝מֵרָעֵ֗ב

and thou hast withholden

תִּֽמְנַֽע

bread

לָֽחֶם׃

man

וְאִ֣ישׁ

But as for the mighty

זְ֭רוֹעַ

 

ל֣וֹ

he had the earth

הָאָ֑רֶץ

and the honourable man

וּנְשׂ֥וּא

 

פָ֝נִ֗ים

dwelt

יֵ֣שֶׁב

 

בָּֽהּ׃

widows

אַ֭לְמָנוֹת

Thou hast sent

שִׁלַּ֣חְתָּ

away empty

רֵיקָ֑ם

and the arms

וּזְרֹע֖וֹת

of the fatherless

יְתֹמִ֣ים

have been broken

יְדֻכָּֽא׃

 

עַל

 

כֵּ֭ן

are round about

סְבִיבוֹתֶ֣יךָ

Therefore snares

פַחִ֑ים

troubleth

וִֽ֝יבַהֶלְךָ

fear

פַּ֣חַד

thee and sudden

פִּתְאֹֽם׃

 

אוֹ

Or darkness

חֹ֥שֶׁךְ

 

לֹֽא

that thou canst not see

תִרְאֶ֑ה

and abundance

וְֽשִׁפְעַת

of waters

מַ֥יִם

cover

תְּכַסֶּֽךָּ׃

 

הֲֽלֹא

Is not God

אֱ֭לוֹהַּ

in the height

גֹּ֣בַהּ

of heaven

שָׁמָ֑יִם

and behold

וּרְאֵ֤ה

the height

רֹ֖אשׁ

of the stars

כּוֹכָבִ֣ים

 

כִּי

how high

רָֽמּוּ׃

And thou sayest

וְֽ֭אָמַרְתָּ

 

מַה

know

יָּ֣דַֽע

How doth God

אֵ֑ל

 

הַבְעַ֖ד

through the dark cloud

עֲרָפֶ֣ל

can he judge

יִשְׁפּֽוֹט׃

Thick clouds

עָבִ֣ים

are a covering

סֵֽתֶר

 

ל֭וֹ

 

וְלֹ֣א

to him that he seeth

יִרְאֶ֑ה

in the circuit

וְח֥וּג

of heaven

שָׁ֝מַ֗יִם

not and he walketh

יִתְהַלָּֽךְ׃

way

הַאֹ֣רַח

the old

עוֹלָ֣ם

Hast thou marked

תִּשְׁמ֑וֹר

 

אֲשֶׁ֖ר

have trodden

דָּרְכ֣וּ

men

מְתֵי

which wicked

אָֽוֶן׃

 

אֲשֶֽׁר

Which were cut down

קֻמְּט֥וּ

 

וְלֹא

out of time

עֵ֑ת

with a flood

נָ֝הָ֗ר

was overflown

יוּצַ֥ק

whose foundation

יְסוֹדָֽם׃

Which said

הָאֹמְרִ֣ים

unto God

לָ֭אֵל

Depart

ס֣וּר

 

מִמֶּ֑נּוּ

 

וּמַה

do

יִּפְעַ֖ל

from us and what can the Almighty

שַׁדַּ֣י

 

לָֽמוֹ׃

 

וְה֤וּא

Yet he filled

מִלֵּ֣א

their houses

בָתֵּיהֶ֣ם

with good

ט֑וֹב

things but the counsel

וַעֲצַ֥ת

of the wicked

רְ֝שָׁעִ֗ים

is far

רָ֣חֲקָה

 

מֶֽנִּי׃

see

יִרְא֣וּ

The righteous

צַדִּיקִ֣ים

it and are glad

וְיִשְׂמָ֑חוּ

and the innocent

וְ֝נָקִ֗י

laugh them to scorn

יִלְעַג

 

לָֽמוֹ׃

Whereas

אִם

 

לֹ֣א

is not cut down

נִכְחַ֣ד

our substance

קִימָ֑נוּ

but the remnant

וְ֝יִתְרָ֗ם

consumeth

אָ֣כְלָה

of them the fire

אֵֽשׁ׃

Acquaint

הַסְכֶּן

 

נָ֣א

 

עִמּ֑וֹ

now thyself with him and be at peace

וּשְׁלם

 

בָּ֝הֶ֗ם

shall come

תְּֽבוֹאַתְךָ֥

thereby good

טוֹבָֽה׃

Receive

קַח

 

נָ֣א

from his mouth

מִפִּ֣יו

I pray thee the law

תּוֹרָ֑ה

and lay up

וְשִׂ֥ים

his words

אֲ֝מָרָ֗יו

in thine heart

בִּלְבָבֶֽךָ׃

 

אִם

If thou return

תָּשׁ֣וּב

 

עַד

to the Almighty

שַׁ֭דַּי

thou shalt be built up

תִּבָּנֶ֑ה

far

תַּרְחִ֥יק

iniquity

עַ֝וְלָ֗ה

from thy tabernacles

מֵאָהֳלֶֽךָ׃

Then shalt thou lay up

וְשִׁית

as

עַל

dust

עָפָ֥ר

gold

בָּ֑צֶר

as the stones

וּבְצ֖וּר

of the brooks

נְחָלִ֣ים

and the gold of Ophir

אוֹפִֽיר׃

 

וְהָיָ֣ה

Yea the Almighty

שַׁדַּ֣י

shall be thy defence

בְּצָרֶ֑יךָ

of silver

וְכֶ֖סֶף

and thou shalt have plenty

תּוֹעָפ֣וֹת

 

לָֽךְ׃

 

כִּי

 

אָ֭ז

 

עַל

in the Almighty

שַׁדַּ֣י

For then shalt thou have thy delight

תִּתְעַנָּ֑ג

and shalt lift up

וְתִשָּׂ֖א

 

אֶל

unto God

אֱל֣וֹהַּ

thy face

פָּנֶֽיךָ׃

Thou shalt make thy prayer

תַּעְתִּ֣יר

 

אֵ֭לָיו

unto him and he shall hear

וְיִשְׁמָעֶ֑ךָּ

thy vows

וּנְדָרֶ֥יךָ

thee and thou shalt pay

תְשַׁלֵּֽם׃

Thou shalt also decree

וְֽתִגְזַר

a thing

אֹ֭מֶר

and it shall be established

וְיָ֣קָם

 

לָ֑ךְ

 

וְעַל

upon thy ways

דְּ֝רָכֶ֗יךָ

shall shine

נָ֣גַֽהּ

unto thee and the light

אֽוֹר׃

 

כִּֽי

When men are cast down

הִ֭שְׁפִּילוּ

then thou shalt say

וַתֹּ֣אמֶר

There is lifting up

גֵּוָ֑ה

the humble

וְשַׁ֖ח

person

עֵינַ֣יִם

and he shall save

יוֹשִֽׁעַ׃

He shall deliver

וְ֝נִמְלַ֗ט

the island

אִֽי

of the innocent

נָקִ֑י

He shall deliver

וְ֝נִמְלַ֗ט

by the pureness

בְּבֹ֣ר

of thine hands

כַּפֶּֽיךָ׃
