לְמַ֨עַן

That thou mightest fear

תִּירָ֜א

 

אֶת

the LORD

יְהוָ֣ה

thy God

אֱלֹהֶ֗יךָ

to keep

לִ֠שְׁמֹר

 

אֶת

 

כָּל

all his statutes

חֻקֹּתָ֣יו

and his commandments

וּמִצְוֹתָיו֮

 

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

 

אָֽנֹכִ֣י

which I command

מְצַוֶּךָ֒

 

אַתָּה֙

and thy son's

בִּנְךָ֔

and thy son's

בִּנְךָ֔

and thy son's

בִּנְךָ֔

 

כֹּ֖ל

all the days

יָמֶֽיךָ׃

of thy life

חַיֶּ֑יךָ

 

וּלְמַ֖עַן

may be prolonged

יַֽאֲרִכֻ֥ן

Hear

וְשָֽׁמַעְתָּ֤

therefore O Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵל֙

and observe

וְשָֽׁמַרְתָּ֣

to do

לַֽעֲשׂ֔וֹת

 

אֲשֶׁר֙

it that it may be well

יִיטַ֣ב

 

לְךָ֔

 

וַֽאֲשֶׁ֥ר

with thee and that ye may increase

תִּרְבּ֖וּן

mightily

מְאֹ֑ד

 

כַּֽאֲשֶׁר֩

hath promised

דִּבֶּ֨ר

as the LORD

יְהוָ֜ה

God

אֱלֹהֵ֤י

of thy fathers

אֲבֹתֶ֙יךָ֙

 

לָ֔ךְ

thee in the land

אֶ֛רֶץ

that floweth

זָבַ֥ת

with milk

חָלָ֖ב

and honey

וּדְבָֽשׁ׃

Hear

שְׁמַ֖ע

O Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל

LORD

יְהוָ֥ה׀

our God

אֱלֹהֵ֖ינוּ

LORD

יְהוָ֥ה׀

is one

אֶחָֽד׃

And thou shalt love

וְאָ֣הַבְתָּ֔

 

אֵ֖ת

the LORD

יְהוָ֣ה

thy God

אֱלֹהֶ֑יךָ

 

בְּכָל

with all thine heart

לְבָֽבְךָ֥

 

וּבְכָל

and with all thy soul

נַפְשְׁךָ֖

 

וּבְכָל

and with all thy might

מְאֹדֶֽךָ׃

 

וְהָי֞וּ

And these words

הַדְּבָרִ֣ים

 

הָאֵ֗לֶּה

 

אֲשֶׁ֨ר

 

אָֽנֹכִ֧י

which I command

מְצַוְּךָ֛

thee this day

הַיּ֖וֹם

 

עַל

shall be in thine heart

לְבָבֶֽךָ׃

And thou shalt teach them diligently

וְשִׁנַּנְתָּ֣ם

unto thy children

לְבָנֶ֔יךָ

and shalt talk

וְדִבַּרְתָּ֖

 

בָּ֑ם

of them when thou sittest

בְּשִׁבְתְּךָ֤

in thine house

בְּבֵיתֶ֙ךָ֙

 

וּבְלֶכְתְּךָ֣

by the way

בַדֶּ֔רֶךְ

and when thou liest down

וּֽבְשָׁכְבְּךָ֖

and when thou risest up

וּבְקוּמֶֽךָ׃

And thou shalt bind

וּקְשַׁרְתָּ֥ם

them for a sign

לְא֖וֹת

 

עַל

upon thine hand

יָדֶ֑ךָ

 

וְהָי֥וּ

and they shall be as frontlets

לְטֹֽטָפֹ֖ת

 

בֵּ֥ין

between thine eyes

עֵינֶֽיךָ׃

And thou shalt write

וּכְתַבְתָּ֛ם

 

עַל

them upon the posts

מְזֻז֥וֹת

of thy house

בֵּיתֶ֖ךָ

and on thy gates

וּבִשְׁעָרֶֽיךָ׃

 

וְהָיָ֞ה

 

כִּ֥י

shall have brought

יְבִֽיאֲךָ֣׀

And it shall be when the LORD

יְהוָ֣ה

thy God

אֱלֹהֶ֗יךָ

 

אֶל

thee into the land

הָאָ֜רֶץ

 

אֲשֶׁ֨ר

which he sware

נִשְׁבַּ֧ע

unto thy fathers

לַֽאֲבֹתֶ֛יךָ

to Abraham

לְאַבְרָהָ֛ם

to Isaac

לְיִצְחָ֥ק

and to Jacob

וּֽלְיַעֲקֹ֖ב

to give

לָ֣תֶת

 

לָ֑ךְ

cities

עָרִ֛ים

thee great

גְּדֹלֹ֥ת

and goodly

וְטֹבֹ֖ת

 

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

 

לֹֽא

which thou buildedst

בָנִֽיתָ׃

And houses

וּבָ֨תִּ֜ים

full

מְלֵאִ֣ים

 

כָּל

of all good

טוּב֮

 

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

 

לֹֽא

things which thou filledst

מִלֵּאתָ֒

not and wells

וּבֹרֹ֤ת

digged

חָצַ֔בְתָּ

 

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

 

לֹֽא

not vineyards

כְּרָמִ֥ים

and olive trees

וְזֵיתִ֖ים

not when thou shalt have eaten

וְאָֽכַלְתָּ֖

and be full

וְשָׂבָֽעְתָּ׃

Then beware

הִשָּׁ֣מֶר

lest thou forget

תִּשְׁכַּ֖ח

 

אֶת

the LORD

יְהוָ֑ה

which brought thee forth

הוֹצִֽיאֲךָ֛

out of the land

מֵאֶ֥רֶץ

of Egypt

מִצְרַ֖יִם

from the house

of bondage

Thou shalt fear

תִּירָ֖א

 

וְאֹת֣וֹ

וּבִשְׁמ֖וֹ

Ye shall not tempt

נִסִּיתֶ֖ם

And thou shalt do

וְעָשִׂ֛יתָ

that which is right

הַיָּשָׁ֥ר

הַטֹּבָ֔ה

בְּעֵינֵ֣י

of the LORD

that it may be well

יִ֣יטַב

with thee and that thou mayest go in

הַטֹּבָ֔ה

 

אֲשֶׁר

נִשְׁבַּ֥ע

To cast out

לַֽהֲדֹ֥ף

all thine enemies

יִשְׁאָלְךָ֥

And when thy son

בִנְךָ֛

thee in time to come

מָחָ֖ר

saying

לֵאמֹ֑ר

Then thou shalt say

וְאָֽמַרְתָּ֣

unto thy son

לְבִנְךָ֔

bondmen

עֲבָדִ֛ים

 

הָיִ֥ינוּ

We were Pharaoh's

לְפַרְעֹ֖ה

in Egypt

מִמִּצְרַ֖יִם

brought us out

וַיֹּֽצִיאֵ֧נוּ

and the LORD

יְהוָ֛ה

in Egypt

מִמִּצְרַ֖יִם

hand

בְּיָ֥ד

with a mighty

חֲזָקָֽה׃

shewed

וַיִּתֵּ֣ן

And the LORD

יְהוָ֡ה

signs

אוֹתֹ֣ת

and wonders

וּ֠מֹֽפְתִים

great

גְּדֹלִ֨ים

and sore

וְרָעִ֧ים׀

upon Egypt

בְּמִצְרַ֛יִם

upon Pharaoh

בְּפַרְעֹ֥ה

 

וּבְכָל

and upon all his household

בֵּית֖וֹ

before our eyes

לְעֵינֵֽינוּ׃

 

וְאוֹתָ֖נוּ

And he brought us out

הוֹצִ֣יא

 

מִשָּׁ֑ם

 

לְמַ֙עַן֙

from thence that he might bring us in

הָבִ֣יא

 

אֹתָ֔נוּ

to give

לָ֤תֶת

 

לָ֙נוּ֙

 

אֶת

us the land

הָאָ֔רֶץ

 

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

which he sware

נִשְׁבַּ֖ע

unto our fathers

לַֽאֲבֹתֵֽינוּ׃

וַיְצַוֵּ֣נוּ

And the LORD

יְהוָ֣ה

us to do

לַֽעֲשׂוֹת֙

all these statutes

הָאֵ֔לֶּה

to fear

לְיִרְאָ֖ה

 

אֶת

And the LORD

יְהוָ֣ה

our God

אֱלֹהֵ֑ינוּ

for our good

לְט֥וֹב

 

לָ֙נוּ֙

 

כָּל

always

כְּהַיּ֥וֹם

that he might preserve us alive

לְחַיֹּתֵ֖נוּ

always

כְּהַיּ֥וֹם

 

הַזֶּֽה׃

And it shall be our righteousness

וּצְדָקָ֖ה

 

תִּֽהְיֶה

 

לָּ֑נוּ

 

כִּֽי

if we observe

נִשְׁמֹ֨ר

to do

לַֽעֲשׂ֜וֹת

לִפְנֵ֛י

יְהוָ֥ה
