And he stood

Then came forth

What confidence

הַבִּטָּח֛וֹן

 

הַזֶּ֖ה

 

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

is this wherein thou trustest

בָּטָֽחְתָּ׃

I say

אָמַ֙רְתִּי֙

sayest thou (but they are but vain

שְׂפָתַ֔יִם

I have counsel

עֵצָ֥ה

and strength

וּגְבוּרָ֖ה

for war

לַמִּלְחָמָ֑ה

now on whom dost thou trust

בָטַ֔חְתָּ

that thou rebellest

מָרַ֖דְתָּ

Lo thou trustest

עַל

in the staff

מִשְׁעֶנֶת֩

הַקָּנֶ֨ה

of this broken

הָרָצ֤וּץ

 

הַזֶּה֙

 

עַל

of Egypt

מִצְרַ֔יִם

 

אֲשֶׁ֨ר

lean

יִסָּמֵ֥ךְ

whereon if a man

אִישׁ֙

 

עָלָ֔יו

it will go

וּבָ֥א

into his hand

בְכַפּ֖וֹ

and pierce

וּנְקָבָ֑הּ

 

כֵּ֚ן

it so is Pharaoh

פַּרְעֹ֣ה

Lo thou trustest

הַבֹּטְחִ֖ים

But if thou say

וַיֹּ֤אמֶר

in the LORD

יְהוָ֥ה

our God

אֱלֹהֵ֖ינוּ

to me We trust

בָּטָ֑חְנוּ

 

הֲלוֹא

 

ה֗וּא

 

אֲשֶׁ֨ר

hath taken away

הֵסִ֤יר

Hezekiah

חִזְקִיָּ֙הוּ֙

 

אֶת

is it not he whose high places

בָּמֹתָ֣יו

 

וְאֶת

and whose altars

הַמִּזְבֵּ֥חַ

But if thou say

וַיֹּ֤אמֶר

to Judah

לִֽיהוּדָה֙

and to Jerusalem

וְלִיר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔ם

before

לִפְנֵ֛י

and whose altars

הַמִּזְבֵּ֥חַ

 

הַזֶּ֖ה

Ye shall worship

תִּֽשְׁתַּחֲוֽוּ׃

 

וְעַתָּה֙

Now therefore give pledges

הִתְעָ֣רֶב

 

נָ֔א

 

אֶת

I pray thee to my master

אֲדֹנִ֖י

the king

הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ

of Assyria

אַשּׁ֑וּר

and I will give

לָ֥תֶת

 

לְךָ֙

thee two thousand

אַלְפַּ֣יִם

horses

סוּסִ֔ים

 

אִם

if thou be able

תּוּכַ֕ל

and I will give

לָ֥תֶת

 

לְךָ֖

riders

רֹכְבִ֥ים

 

עֲלֵיהֶֽם׃

 

וְאֵ֣יךְ

How then wilt thou turn away

תָּשִׁ֗יב

אַחַ֛ד

servants

עַבְדֵ֥י

of my master's

אֲדֹנִ֖י

of the least

הַקְטַנִּ֑ים

and put thy trust

וַתִּבְטַ֤ח

 

לְךָ֙

 

עַל

on Egypt

מִצְרַ֔יִם

for chariots

לְרֶ֖כֶב

and for horsemen

וּלְפָרָשִֽׁים׃

 

וְעַתָּה֙

without

הֲמִבַּלְעֲדֵ֣י

it the LORD

יְהוָה֙

And am I now come up

עֲלֵ֛ה

 

עַל

against this land

הָאָ֥רֶץ

 

הַזֹּ֖את

and destroy

וְהַשְׁחִיתָֽהּ׃

it the LORD

And am I now come up

against this land

הָאָ֥רֶץ

וַֽיַּעֲמֹד֙

and cried

וַיִּקְרָ֥א

in the Jews' language

יְהוּדִ֑ית

and said

וַיֹּ֕אמֶר

Hear

שִׁמְע֗וּ

Let not Hezekiah

Neither let Hezekiah

חִזְקִיָּ֙הוּ֙

יַצִּילֵ֖נוּ

Hearken

תִּשְׁמְע֖וּ

an agreement with me by a present

בְרָכָה֙

and come out

וּצְא֣וּ

 

אֵלַ֔י

to me and eat

וְאִכְל֤וּ

and every one

אִ֥ישׁ

of his vine

גַּפְנוֹ֙

and every one

אִ֥ישׁ

of his fig tree

תְּאֵנָת֔וֹ

and drink

וּשְׁת֖וּ

and every one

אִ֥ישׁ

the waters

מֵי

of his own cistern

בוֹרֽוֹ׃

 

עַד

Until I come

בֹּאִ֕י

and take you away

וְלָקַחְתִּ֥י

 

אֶתְכֶ֖ם

of the nations
