אֱלִיפַ֥ז

the Temanite

הַֽתֵּימָנִ֗י

and said

וַיֹּאמַֽר׃

If we assay

הֲנִסָּ֬ה

to commune

דָבָ֣ר

 

אֵלֶ֣יךָ

with thee wilt thou be grieved

תִּלְאֶ֑ה

withhold

וַעְצֹ֥ר

himself from speaking

בְּ֝מִלִּ֗ין

 

מִ֣י

but who can

יוּכָֽל׃

 

הִ֭נֵּה

Behold thou hast instructed

יִסַּ֣רְתָּ

many

רַבִּ֑ים

hands

וְיָדַ֖יִם

the weak

רָפ֣וֹת

and thou hast strengthened

תְּחַזֵּֽק׃

him that was falling

כּ֭וֹשֵׁל

have upholden

יְקִימ֣וּן

Thy words

מִלֶּ֑יךָ

knees

וּבִרְכַּ֖יִם

the feeble

כֹּֽרְע֣וֹת

and thou hast strengthened

תְּאַמֵּֽץ׃

 

כִּ֤י

 

עַתָּ֨ה׀

But now it is come

תָּב֣וֹא

 

אֵלֶ֣יךָ

upon thee and thou faintest

וַתֵּ֑לֶא

it toucheth

תִּגַּ֥ע

 

עָ֝דֶ֗יךָ

thee and thou art troubled

וַתִּבָּהֵֽל׃

 

הֲלֹ֣א

Is not this thy fear

יִ֭רְאָתְךָ

thy confidence

כִּסְלָתֶ֑ךָ

thy hope

תִּ֝קְוָֽתְךָ֗

and the uprightness

וְתֹ֣ם

of thy ways

דְּרָכֶֽיךָ׃

Remember

זְכָר

 

נָ֗א

 

מִ֤י

 

ה֣וּא

being innocent

נָקִ֣י

I pray thee who ever perished

אָבָ֑ד

or where

וְ֝אֵיפֹ֗ה

were the righteous

יְשָׁרִ֥ים

cut off

נִכְחָֽדוּ׃

 

כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֣ר

Even as I have seen

רָ֭אִיתִי

they that plow

חֹ֣רְשֵׁי

iniquity

אָ֑וֶן

and sow

וְזֹֽרְעֵ֖י

wickedness

עָמָ֣ל

reap

יִקְצְרֻֽהוּ׃

By the blast

מִנִּשְׁמַ֣ת

of God

אֱל֣וֹהַ

they perish

יֹאבֵ֑דוּ

and by the breath

וּמֵר֖וּחַ

of his nostrils

אַפּ֣וֹ

are they consumed

יִכְלֽוּ׃

The roaring

שַֽׁאֲגַ֣ת

of the lion

אַ֭רְיֵה

and the voice

וְק֣וֹל

of the fierce lion

שָׁ֑חַל

and the teeth

וְשִׁנֵּ֖י

of the young lions

כְפִירִ֣ים

are broken

נִתָּֽעוּ׃

The old lion

לַ֭יִשׁ

perisheth

אֹבֵ֣ד

for lack

מִבְּלִי

of prey

טָ֑רֶף

whelps

וּבְנֵ֥י

and the stout lion's

לָ֝בִ֗יא

are scattered abroad

יִתְפָּרָֽדוּ׃

 

וְ֭אֵלַי

Now a thing

דָּבָ֣ר

was secretly brought

יְגֻנָּ֑ב

received

וַתִּקַּ֥ח

to me and mine ear

אָ֝זְנִ֗י

a little

שֵׁ֣מֶץ

 

מֶֽנְהֽוּ׃

In thoughts

בִּ֭שְׂעִפִּים

from the visions

מֵֽחֶזְיֹנ֣וֹת

of the night

לָ֑יְלָה

falleth

בִּנְפֹ֥ל

when deep sleep

תַּ֝רְדֵּמָ֗ה

 

עַל

 

אֲנָשִֽׁים׃

Fear

פַּ֣חַד

came

קְ֭רָאַנִי

 

וּרְעָדָ֑ה

which made all

וְרֹ֖ב

my bones

עַצְמוֹתַ֣י

to shake

הִפְחִֽיד׃

Then a spirit

וְ֭רוּחַ

 

עַל

before my face

פָּנַ֣י

passed

יַֽחֲלֹ֑ף

stood up

תְּ֝סַמֵּ֗ר

the hair

שַֽׂעֲרַ֥ת

of my flesh

בְּשָׂרִֽי׃

It stood still

יַֽעֲמֹ֤ד׀

 

וְֽלֹא

but I could not discern

אַכִּ֬יר

the form

מַרְאֵ֗הוּ

thereof an image

תְּ֭מוּנָה

 

לְנֶ֣גֶד

was before mine eyes

עֵינָ֑י

there was silence

דְּמָמָ֖ה

a voice

וָק֣וֹל

and I heard

אֶשְׁמָֽע׃

 

הַֽ֭אֱנוֹשׁ

than God

מֵאֱל֣וֹהַ

be more just

יִצְדָּ֑ק

 

אִ֥ם

than his maker

מֵֽ֝עֹשֵׂ֗הוּ

be more pure

יִטְהַר

shall a man

גָּֽבֶר׃

 

הֵ֣ן

in his servants

בַּֽ֭עֲבָדָיו

 

לֹ֣א

Behold he put no trust

יַֽאֲמִ֑ין

and his angels

וּ֝בְמַלְאָכָ֗יו

he charged

יָשִׂ֥ים

with folly

תָּֽהֳלָֽה׃

How much less

אַ֤ף׀

in them that dwell

שֹֽׁכְנֵ֬י

in houses

בָֽתֵּי

of clay

חֹ֗מֶר

 

אֲשֶׁר

is in the dust

בֶּֽעָפָ֥ר

whose foundation

יְסוֹדָ֑ם

which are crushed

יְ֝דַכְּא֗וּם

before

לִפְנֵי

the moth

עָֽשׁ׃

from morning

מִבֹּ֣קֶר

to evening

לָעֶ֣רֶב

They are destroyed

יֻכַּ֑תּוּ

 

מִבְּלִ֥י

without any regarding

מֵ֝שִׂ֗ים

for ever

לָנֶ֥צַח

they perish

יֹאבֵֽדוּ׃

 

הֲלֹֽא

which is in them go away

נִסַּ֣ע

Doth not their excellency

יִתְרָ֣ם

 

בָּ֑ם

they die

יָ֝מ֗וּתוּ

 

וְלֹ֣א

even without wisdom

בְחָכְמָֽה׃
