And Nathan

to the king

הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ

all that is in thine heart

בִּֽלְבָבְךָ֖

 

לֵ֣ךְ

עֲשֵׂ֑ה

And it came to pass that night

בַּלַּ֣יְלָה

came unto Nathan

נָתָ֖ן

saying

לֵאמֹֽר׃

 

לֵ֤ךְ

Thus saith

my servant

עַבְדִּ֣י

David

דָּוִ֔ד

 

כֹּ֖ה

Thus saith

אָמַ֣ר

the LORD

יְהוָ֑ה

 

הַֽאַתָּ֛ה

Shalt thou build

תִּבְנֶה

 

לִּ֥י

me an house

בַ֖יִת

for me to dwell in

לְשִׁבְתִּֽי׃

 

כִּ֣י

 

לֹ֤א

Whereas I have not dwelt

יָשַׁ֙בְתִּי֙

in any house

בְּבַ֔יִת

even to this day

הַיּ֣וֹם

that I brought up

הַֽעֲלֹתִ֞י

 

אֶת

the children

בְּנֵ֤י

of Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵל֙

out of Egypt

מִמִּצְרַ֔יִם

 

וְעַ֖ד

even to this day

הַיּ֣וֹם

 

הַזֶּ֑ה

 

וָאֶֽהְיֶה֙

but have walked

מִתְהַלֵּ֔ךְ

in a tent

בְּאֹ֖הֶל

and in a tabernacle

וּבְמִשְׁכָּֽן׃

 

בְּכֹ֥ל

 

אֲשֶֽׁר

In all the places wherein I have walked

הִתְהַלַּכְתִּי֮

 

בְּכָל

with all the children

I took

לְקַחְתִּ֙יךָ֙

thee from the sheepcote

הַנָּוֶ֔ה

from following

מֵֽאַחַ֖ר

the sheep

הַצֹּ֑אן

 

לִֽהְי֣וֹת

to be ruler

נָגִ֔יד

 

עַל

over my people

עַמִּ֖י

 

עַל

over Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

 

וָאֶֽהְיֶ֣ה

 

עִמְּךָ֗

 

בְּכֹל֙

 

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

And I was with thee whithersoever thou wentest

הָלַ֔כְתָּ

and have cut off

וָֽאַכְרִ֥תָה

 

אֶת

 

כָּל

all thine enemies

אֹֽיְבֶ֖יךָ

out of thy sight

מִפָּנֶ֑יךָ

and have made

וְעָשִׂ֤תִֽי

 

לְךָ֙

like unto the name

כְּשֵׁ֥ם

of the great

הַגְּדֹלִ֖ים

like unto the name

כְּשֵׁ֥ם

of the great

הַגְּדֹלִ֖ים

 

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

men that are in the earth

בָּאָֽרֶץ׃

Moreover I will appoint

וְשַׂמְתִּ֣י

a place

מָ֠קוֹם

for my people

לְעַמִּ֨י

Israel

לְיִשְׂרָאֵ֤ל

and will plant

וּנְטַעְתִּיו֙

them that they may dwell

וְשָׁכַ֣ן

 

תַּחְתָּ֔יו

 

וְלֹ֥א

in a place of their own and move

יִרְגַּ֖ז

 

ע֑וֹד

 

וְלֹֽא

them any more

יֹסִ֤יפוּ

no more neither shall the children

בְנֵֽי

of wickedness

עַוְלָה֙

afflict

לְעַנּוֹת֔וֹ

 

כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֖ר

as beforetime

בָּרִֽאשׁוֹנָֽה׃

 

וּלְמִן

And as since the time

הַיּ֗וֹם

 

אֲשֶׁ֨ר

that I commanded

צִוִּ֤יתִי

judges

שֹֽׁפְטִים֙

 

עַל

to be over my people

עַמִּ֣י

Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל

and have caused thee to rest

וַֽהֲנִיחֹ֥תִי

 

לְךָ֖

 

מִכָּל

from all thine enemies

אֹֽיְבֶ֑יךָ

telleth

וְהִגִּ֤יד

 

לְךָ֙

Also the LORD

thee an house

thee that he will make

be fulfilled

יִמְלְא֣וּ

And when thy days

יָמֶ֗יךָ

and thou shalt sleep

וְשָֽׁכַבְתָּ֙

with thy fathers

אֲבֹתֶ֔יךָ

I will set up

וַהֲקִֽימֹתִ֤י

 

אֶֽת

thy seed

זַרְעֲךָ֙

after

אַֽחֲרֶ֔יךָ

thee which shall proceed

יֵצֵ֖א

out of thy bowels

מִמֵּעֶ֑יךָ

and I will establish

וַהֲכִֽינֹתִ֖י

his kingdom

מַמְלַכְתּֽוֹ׃

He shall build

יִבְנֶה

an house

בַּ֖יִת

for my name

לִשְׁמִ֑י

and I will stablish

וְכֹֽנַנְתִּ֛י

the throne

כִּסֵּ֥א

of his kingdom

מַמְלַכְתּ֖וֹ

עַד

ever

עוֹלָֽם׃

 

אֲנִי֙

 

אֶֽהְיֶה

 

לּ֣וֹ

I will be his father

לְאָ֔ב

 

וְה֖וּא

 

יִֽהְיֶה

 

לִּ֣י

and he shall be my son

בְּנֵ֥י

 

אֲשֶׁר֙

If he commit iniquity

בְּהַ֣עֲוֹת֔וֹ

I will chasten

וְהֹֽכַחְתִּיו֙

him with the rod

בְּשֵׁ֣בֶט

 

אֲנָשִׁ֔ים

and with the stripes

וּבְנִגְעֵ֖י

and he shall be my son

בְּנֵ֥י

of men

אָדָֽם׃

But my mercy

וְחַסְדִּ֖י

 

לֹֽא

from him as I took

הֲסִרֹ֖תִי

 

מִמֶּ֑נּוּ

 

כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֤ר

from him as I took

הֲסִרֹ֖תִי

 

מֵעִ֣ם

it from Saul

שָׁא֔וּל

 

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

מִלְּפָנֶֽיךָ׃

וְנֶאְמַ֨ן

And thine house

בֵּֽיתְךָ֧

and thy kingdom

וּמַֽמְלַכְתְּךָ֛

ever

עוֹלָֽם׃

before

לְפָנֶ֑יךָ

thee thy throne

כִּֽסְאֲךָ֔

 

יִֽהְיֶ֥ה

shall be established

נָכ֖וֹן

According to all these words

הַדְּבָרִ֣ים

 

הָאֵ֔לֶּה

and according to all this vision

so did Nathan

נָתָ֖ן

 

אֶל

unto David

דָּוִֽד׃

Then went

הֲבִֽאֹתַ֖נִי

king

הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ

דָּוִ֔ד

in and sat

וַיֵּ֖שֶׁב

before

לִפְנֵ֣י

the LORD

יְהוָ֑ה

and he said

וַיֹּ֗אמֶר

אָֽנֹכִ֞י

Who am I O Lord

אֲדֹנָ֤י

GOD

יְהוִה֙

 

וּמִ֣י

and what is my house

בֵיתִ֔י

 

כִּ֥י

Then went

הֲבִֽאֹתַ֖נִי

 

עַד

me hitherto

הֲלֹֽם׃

And this was yet a small thing

וַתִּקְטַן֩

 

ע֨וֹד

 

זֹ֤את

in thy sight

בְּעֵינֶ֙יךָ֙

O Lord

אֲדֹנָ֥י

 

יְהוִ֔ה

but thou hast spoken

וַתְּדַבֵּ֛ר

 

גַּ֥ם

 

אֶל

house

בֵּֽית

also of thy servant's

עַבְדְּךָ֖

for a great while to come

לְמֵֽרָח֑וֹק

 

וְזֹ֛את

And is this the manner

תּוֹרַ֥ת

of man

הָֽאָדָ֖ם

O Lord

אֲדֹנָ֥י

 

יְהוִֽה׃

 

וּמַה

And what can

יּוֹסִ֥יף

David

דָּוִ֛ד

 

ע֖וֹד

say

לְדַבֵּ֣ר

 

אֵלֶ֑יךָ

 

וְאַתָּ֛ה

knowest

יָדַ֥עְתָּ

 

אֶֽת

thy servant

עַבְדְּךָ֖

unto thee for thou Lord

אֲדֹנָ֥י

GOD

יְהוִֽה׃

 

בַּֽעֲב֤וּר

For thy word's

דְּבָֽרְךָ֙

sake and according to thine own heart

וּֽכְלִבְּךָ֔

hast thou done

עָשִׂ֕יתָ

 

אֵ֥ת

 

כָּל

all these great things

הַגְּדוּלָּ֖ה

 

הַזֹּ֑את

know

לְהוֹדִ֖יעַ

 

אֶת

to make thy servant

עַבְדֶּֽךָ׃

 

עַל

 

כֵּ֥ן

Wherefore thou art great

גָּדַ֖לְתָּ

O LORD

יְהוָ֣ה

אֱלֹהִים֙

כָּמ֗וֹךָ

beside

זֽוּלָתֶ֔ךָ

thee according to all that we have heard

שָׁמַ֖עְנוּ

with our ears

בְּאָזְנֵֽינוּ׃

 

וּמִ֤י

for a people

עַמְּךָ֗

even like Israel

כְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל

from the nations

גּוֹיִ֖ם

And what one

אֶחָ֖ד

for thy land

לְאַרְצֶ֔ךָ

 

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

went

הָלְכֽוּ

and their gods

וֵֽאלֹהָֽיו׃

to redeem

פָּדִ֤יתָ

 

ל֨וֹ

for a people

עַמְּךָ֗

to himself and to make

וְלָשׂ֧וּם

 

ל֣וֹ

him a name

שֵׁ֗ם

and to do

וְלַֽעֲשׂ֨וֹת

 

לָכֶ֜ם

for you great things

הַגְּדוּלָּ֤ה

and terrible

וְנֹֽרָאוֹת֙

for thy land

לְאַרְצֶ֔ךָ

before

מִפְּנֵ֣י

for a people

עַמְּךָ֗

 

אֲשֶׁ֨ר

to redeem

פָּדִ֤יתָ

to thee from Egypt
