מִתְאַבֵּ֔ל

שְׁלֹשָׁ֥ה

weeks

שָׁבֻעִ֖ים

In those days

יָמִֽים׃

bread

לֶ֣חֶם

 

חֲמֻד֞וֹת

 

לֹ֣א

I ate

אָכַ֗לְתִּי

flesh

וּבָשָׂ֥ר

nor wine

וָיַ֛יִן

 

לֹא

neither came

בָ֥א

 

אֶל

in my mouth

פִּ֖י

myself at all

סָ֑כְתִּי

 

לֹא

myself at all

סָ֑כְתִּי

 

עַד

were fulfilled

מְלֹ֕את

till three

שְׁלֹ֥שֶׁת

weeks

שָׁבֻעִ֖ים

whole

יָמִֽים׃

וּבְי֛וֹם

and twentieth

עֶשְׂרִ֥ים

And in the four

וְאַרְבָּעָ֖ה

month

לַחֹ֣דֶשׁ

of the first

הָרִאשׁ֑וֹן

 

וַאֲנִ֗י

 

הָיִ֛יתִי

 

עַ֣ל

as I was by the side

יַ֧ד

river

הַנָּהָ֛ר

of the great

הַגָּד֖וֹל

 

ה֥וּא

which is Hiddekel

חִדָּֽקֶל׃

Then I lifted up

וָאֶשָּׂ֤א

 

אֶת

mine eyes

עֵינַי֙

and looked

וָאֵ֔רֶא

 

וְהִנֵּ֥ה

man

אִישׁ

and behold a certain

אֶחָ֖ד

clothed

לָב֣וּשׁ

in linen

בַּדִּ֑ים

whose loins

וּמָתְנָ֥יו

were girded

חֲגֻרִ֖ים

with fine gold

בְּכֶ֥תֶם

of Uphaz

אוּפָֽז׃

His body

וּגְוִיָּת֣וֹ

also was like the beryl

כְתַרְשִׁ֗ישׁ

and his face

וּפָנָ֞יו

as the appearance

כְּמַרְאֵ֤ה

of lightning

בָרָק֙

and his eyes

כְּעֵ֖ין

as lamps

כְּלַפִּ֣ידֵי

of fire

אֵ֔שׁ

and his arms

וּזְרֹֽעֹתָיו֙

and his feet

וּמַרְגְּלֹתָ֔יו

and his eyes

כְּעֵ֖ין

brass

נְחֹ֣שֶׁת

to polished

קָלָ֑ל

and the voice

כְּק֥וֹל

of his words

דְּבָרָ֖יו

and the voice

כְּק֥וֹל

of a multitude

And I Daniel

דָנִיֵּ֤אל

 

לְבַדִּי֙

הַמַּרְאָ֑ה

for the men

וְהָאֲנָשִׁים֙

 

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

 

הָי֣וּ

 

עִמִּ֔י

 

לֹ֥א

alone saw

רָא֖וּ

 

אֶת

not the vision

הַמַּרְאָ֑ה

but

אֲבָ֗ל

quaking

חֲרָדָ֤ה

a great

גְדֹלָה֙

fell

נָפְלָ֣ה

 

עֲלֵיהֶ֔ם

upon them so that they fled

וַֽיִּבְרְח֖וּ

to hide

בְּהֵחָבֵֽא׃

 

וַאֲנִי֙

Therefore I was left alone

נִשְׁאַר

 

לְבַדִּ֔י

and saw

וָֽאֶרְאֶ֗ה

 

אֶת

vision

הַמַּרְאָ֤ה

this great

הַגְּדֹלָה֙

 

הַזֹּ֔את

 

וְלֹ֥א

Therefore I was left alone

נִשְׁאַר

 

בִּ֖י

no strength

כֹּֽחַ׃

in me for my comeliness

וְהוֹדִ֗י

was turned

נֶהְפַּ֤ךְ

 

עָלַי֙

in me into corruption

לְמַשְׁחִ֔ית

 

וְלֹ֥א

and I retained

עָצַ֖רְתִּי

no strength

כֹּֽחַ׃

Yet heard

וּכְשָׁמְעִי֙

 

אֶת

I the voice

ק֣וֹל

of his words

דְּבָרָ֔יו

then was I in a deep sleep

נִרְדָּ֥ם

וְהִנֵּה

And behold an hand

יָדָֽי׃

touched

נָ֣גְעָה

וְכַפּ֥וֹת

And behold an hand

And he said

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר

unto me O Daniel

דָּנִיֵּ֣אל

a man

אִישׁ

 

חֲ֠מֻדוֹת

understand

הָבֵ֨ן

the words

הַדָּבָ֥ר

 

אֲשֶׁר֩

 

אָנֹכִ֨י

And when he had spoken

וּבְדַבְּר֥וֹ

 

אֵלֶ֙יךָ֙

unto me I stood

עָמַ֥דְתִּי

 

עַל

upright

עָמְדֶ֔ךָ

 

כִּ֥י

 

עַתָּ֖ה

for unto thee am I now sent

שֻׁלַּ֣חְתִּי

 

אֵלֶ֑יךָ

And when he had spoken

וּבְדַבְּר֥וֹ

thyself before

thy God

אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ

נִשְׁמְע֣וּ

for thy words

בִּדְבָרֶֽיךָ׃

 

וַאֲנִי

and I am come

בָ֖אתִי

for thy words

בִּדְבָרֶֽיךָ׃

But the prince

הַשָּׂרִ֥ים

of the kingdom

מַלְכ֣וּת

of Persia

פָרָֽס׃

withstood

עֹמֵ֤ד

 

לְנֶגְדִּי֙

and twenty

עֶשְׂרִ֣ים

me one

אַחַ֛ד

days

י֔וֹם

 

וְהִנֵּ֣ה

but lo Michael

מִֽיכָאֵ֗ל

me one

אַחַ֛ד

But the prince

הַשָּׂרִ֥ים

of the chief

הָרִאשֹׁנִ֖ים

came

בָּ֣א

to help

לְעָזְרֵ֑נִי

 

וַאֲנִי֙

me and I remained

נוֹתַ֣רְתִּי

 

שָׁ֔ם

there with

אֵ֖צֶל

the kings

מַלְכֵ֥י

of Persia

פָרָֽס׃

Now I am come

וּבָ֙אתִי֙

to make thee understand

לַהֲבִ֣ינְךָ֔

 

אֵ֛ת

 

אֲשֶׁר

what shall befall

יִקְרָ֥ה

thy people

לְעַמְּךָ֖

in the latter

בְּאַחֲרִ֣ית

days

לַיָּמִֽים׃

 

כִּי

 

ע֥וֹד

for yet the vision

חָז֖וֹן

days

לַיָּמִֽים׃

And when he had spoken

וּבְדַבְּר֣וֹ

 

עִמִּ֔י

such words

כַּדְּבָרִ֖ים

 

הָאֵ֑לֶּה

unto me I set

נָתַ֧תִּי

my face

פָנַ֛י

toward the ground

אַ֖רְצָה

and I became dumb

וְנֶאֱלָֽמְתִּי׃

 

וְהִנֵּ֗ה

And behold one like the similitude

כִּדְמוּת֙

of the sons

בְּנֵ֣י

of men

אָדָ֔ם

touched

נֹגֵ֖עַ

 

עַל

my lips

שְׂפָתָ֑י

then I opened

וָאֶפְתַּח

my mouth

פִּ֗י

and spake

וָאֲדַבְּרָה֙

and said

וָאֹֽמְרָה֙

 

אֶל

unto him that stood

הָעֹמֵ֣ד

 

לְנֶגְדִּ֔י

before me O my lord

אֲדֹנִ֗י

by the vision

בַּמַּרְאָה֙

are turned

נֶהֶפְכ֤וּ

my sorrows

צִירַי֙

 

עָלַ֔י

 

וְלֹ֥א

upon me and I have retained

עָצַ֖רְתִּי

no strength

כֹּֽחַ׃

For how

וְהֵ֣יךְ

can

יוּכַ֗ל

the servant

עֶ֤בֶד

of this my lord

אֲדֹ֣נִי

 

זֶ֔ה

talk

לְדַבֵּ֖ר

 

עִם

of this my lord

אֲדֹ֣נִי

 

זֶ֑ה

 

וַאֲנִ֤י

for as for me straightway

מֵעַ֙תָּה֙

 

לֹֽא

there remained

יַעֲמָד

 

בִּ֣י

no strength

כֹ֔חַ

in me neither is there breath

וּנְשָׁמָ֖ה

 

לֹ֥א

left

נִשְׁאֲרָה

 

בִֽי׃

Then there came again

וַיֹּ֧סֶף

and touched

וַיִּגַּע

 

בִּ֛י

me one like the appearance

כְּמַרְאֵ֥ה

of a man

אָדָ֖ם

and he strengthened

וַֽיְחַזְּקֵֽנִי׃

And said

וָאֹ֥מְרָ֛ה

 

אַל

fear

תִּירָ֧א

O man

אִישׁ

 

חֲמֻד֛וֹת

not peace

שָׁל֥וֹם

 

לָ֖ךְ

be unto thee be strong

חִזַּקְתָּֽנִי׃

be unto thee be strong

חִזַּקְתָּֽנִי׃

And when he had spoken

יְדַבֵּ֥ר

 

עִמִּי֙

be unto thee be strong

חִזַּקְתָּֽנִי׃

And said

וָאֹ֥מְרָ֛ה

And when he had spoken

יְדַבֵּ֥ר

Let my lord

אֲדֹנִ֖י

 

כִּ֥י

be unto thee be strong

חִזַּקְתָּֽנִי׃

Then said

וַיֹּ֗אמֶר

he Knowest

הֲיָדַ֙עְתָּ֙

 

לָמָּה

shall come

בָּֽא׃

 

אֵלֶ֔יךָ

 

וְעַתָּ֣ה

unto thee and now will I return

אָשׁ֔וּב

to fight

לְהִלָּחֵ֖ם

 

עִם

lo the prince

שַׂר

of Persia

פָּרָ֑ס

 

וַאֲנִ֣י

and when I am gone forth

יוֹצֵ֔א

 

וְהִנֵּ֥ה

lo the prince

שַׂר

of Grecia

יָוָ֖ן

shall come

בָּֽא׃

But

אֲבָל֙

I will shew

אַגִּ֣יד

 

לְךָ֔

 

אֶת

thee that which is noted

הָרָשׁ֥וּם

in the scripture

בִּכְתָ֖ב

of truth

אֱמֶ֑ת

 

וְאֵ֨ין

and there is none

אֶחָ֜ד

that holdeth

מִתְחַזֵּ֤ק

 

עִמִּי֙

 

עַל

 

אֵ֔לֶּה

 

כִּ֥י

 

אִם

with me in these things but Michael
