and ashes

וָאֵֽפֶר׃

And I prayed

וָֽאֶתְפַּֽלְלָ֛ה

unto the LORD

לַיהוָ֥ה

my God

אֱלֹהַ֖י

and made my confession

וָאֶתְוַדֶּ֑ה

and said

וָאֹֽמְרָ֗ה

O

אָנָּ֤א

Lord

אֲדֹנָי֙

God

הָאֵ֤ל

the great

הַגָּדוֹל֙

and dreadful

וְהַנּוֹרָ֔א

him and to them that keep

וּלְשֹׁמְרֵ֥י

the covenant

הַבְּרִית֙

and mercy

וְֽהַחֶ֔סֶד

to them that love

לְאֹהֲבָ֖יו

him and to them that keep

וּלְשֹׁמְרֵ֥י

his commandments

מִצְוֹתָֽיו׃

We have sinned

חָטָ֥אנוּ

and have committed iniquity

וְעָוִ֖ינוּ

and have done wickedly

והִרְשַׁ֣עְנוּ

and have rebelled

וּמָרָ֑דְנוּ

even by departing

וְס֥וֹר

from thy precepts

מִמִּצְוֹתֶ֖ךָ

and from thy judgments

וּמִמִּשְׁפָּטֶֽיךָ׃

 

וְלֹ֤א

Neither have we hearkened

שָׁמַ֙עְנוּ֙

 

אֶל

unto thy servants

עֲבָדֶ֣יךָ

the prophets

הַנְּבִיאִ֔ים

 

אֲשֶׁ֤ר

which spake

דִּבְּרוּ֙

in thy name

בְּשִׁמְךָ֔

 

אֶל

to our kings

מְלָכֵ֥ינוּ

our princes

שָׂרֵ֖ינוּ

and our fathers

וַאֲבֹתֵ֑ינוּ

and to all the people

righteousness

הַצְּדָקָ֔ה

belongeth unto thee but unto us confusion

them because of their trespass

To the Lord

לַֽאדֹנָ֣י

our God

אֱלֹהֵ֔ינוּ

belong mercies

הָרַחֲמִ֖ים

and forgivenesses

וְהַסְּלִח֑וֹת

 

כִּ֥י

though we have rebelled

מָרַ֖דְנוּ

 

בּֽוֹ׃

 

וְלֹ֣א

Neither have we obeyed

שָׁמַ֔עְנוּ

the voice

בְּק֖וֹל

of the LORD

יְהוָ֣ה

our God

אֱלֹהֵ֑ינוּ

 

לָלֶ֤כֶת

in his laws

בְּתֽוֹרֹתָיו֙

 

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

which he set

נָתַ֣ן

of thy servant

and his supplications

תַּ֣חֲנוּנָ֔יו

to shine

וְהָאֵ֣ר

and cause thy face

פָּנֶ֔יךָ

upon thy sanctuary

מִקְדָּשְׁךָ֖

that is desolate

for the Lord's

And he shall confirm

וְהִגְבִּ֥יר

the covenant

בְּרִ֛ית

with many

לָרַבִּ֖ים

of the week

הַשָּׁב֜וּעַ

for one

אֶחָ֑ד

and in the midst

וַחֲצִ֨י

of the week

הַשָּׁב֜וּעַ

to cease

יַשְׁבִּ֣ית׀

he shall cause the sacrifice

זֶ֣בַח

and the oblation

וּמִנְחָ֗ה

 

וְעַ֨ל

and for the overspreading

כְּנַ֤ף

of abominations

שִׁקּוּצִים֙

he shall make it desolate

שֹׁמֵֽם׃

even until the consummation
