וַאֲנִי֙

that I was at Shushan

בְּשׁוּשַׁ֣ן

in the palace

הַבִּירָ֔ה

 

אֲשֶׁ֖ר

of Elam

בְּעֵילָ֣ם

which is in the province

הַמְּדִינָ֑ה

And I saw

וָאֶרְאֶה֙

in a vision

בֶּֽחָז֔וֹן

 

וַאֲנִ֥י

 

הָיִ֖יתִי

 

עַל

and I was by the river

אוּבַ֥ל

of Ulai

אוּלָֽי׃

Then I lifted up

וָאֶשָּׂ֤א

mine eyes

עֵינַי֙

and saw

וָאֶרְאֶ֔ה

 

וְהִנֵּ֣ה׀

ram

אַ֣יִל

a

וְהָאַחַת֙

and behold there stood

עֹמֵ֛ד

before

לִפְנֵ֥י

the river

הָאֻבָ֖ל

 

וְל֣וֹ

and the two horns

וְהַקְּרָנַ֣יִם

and the two horns

וְהַקְּרָנַ֣יִם

and the higher

וְהַ֨גְּבֹהָ֔ה

a

וְהָאַחַת֙

and the higher

וְהַ֨גְּבֹהָ֔ה

 

מִן

than the other

הַשֵּׁנִ֔ית

and the higher

וְהַ֨גְּבֹהָ֔ה

came up

עֹלָ֖ה

last

בָּאַחֲרֹנָֽה׃

I saw

רָאִ֣יתִי

 

אֶת

the ram

הָאַ֡יִל

pushing

מְנַגֵּחַ֩

westward

יָ֨מָּה

and northward

וְצָפ֜וֹנָה

and southward

וָנֶ֗גְבָּה

 

וְכָל

so that no beasts

חַיּוֹת֙

 

לֹֽא

might stand

יַֽעַמְד֣וּ

before

לְפָנָ֔יו

 

וְאֵ֥ין

him neither was there any that could deliver

מַצִּ֖יל

out of his hand

מִיָּד֑וֹ

but he did

וְעָשָׂ֥ה

according to his will

כִרְצֹנ֖וֹ

and became great

וְהִגְדִּֽיל׃

 

וַאֲנִ֣י׀

 

הָיִ֣יתִי

And as I was considering

מֵבִ֗ין

 

וְהִנֵּ֤ה

and the goat

וְהַ֨צָּפִ֔יר

behold an he

הָֽעִזִּים֙

came

בָּ֤א

 

מִן

from the west

הַֽמַּעֲרָב֙

 

עַל

on the face

פְּנֵ֣י

 

כָל

not the ground

בָּאָ֑רֶץ

 

וְאֵ֥ין

and touched

נוֹגֵ֖עַ

not the ground

בָּאָ֑רֶץ

and the goat

וְהַ֨צָּפִ֔יר

horn

קֶ֥רֶן

had a notable

חָז֖וּת

 

בֵּ֥ין

between his eyes

עֵינָֽיו׃

And he came

וַיָּבֹ֗א

 

עַד

to the ram

הָאַ֙יִל֙

that had

בַּ֣עַל

two horns

הַקְּרָנַ֔יִם

 

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

which I had seen

רָאִ֔יתִי

standing

עֹמֵ֖ד

before

לִפְנֵ֣י

the river

הָאֻבָ֑ל

and ran

וַיָּ֥רָץ

 

אֵלָ֖יו

unto him in the fury

בַּחֲמַ֥ת

of his power

כֹּחֽוֹ׃

And I saw

וּרְאִיתִ֞יו

him come

מַגִּ֣יעַ׀

close

אֵ֣צֶל

in the ram

לָאַ֖יִל

and he was moved with choler

וַיִּתְמַרְמַ֤ר

 

אֵלָיו֙

against him and smote

וַיַּ֣ךְ

 

אֶת

in the ram

לָאַ֖יִל

and brake

וַיְשַׁבֵּר֙

 

אֶת

his two

שְׁתֵּ֣י

horns

קְרָנָ֔יו

 

וְלֹא

 

הָ֥יָה

and there was no power

כֹ֛חַ

in the ram

לָאַ֖יִל

to stand

לַעֲמֹ֣ד

before

לְפָנָ֑יו

him but he cast him down

וַיַּשְׁלִיכֵ֤הוּ

to the ground

אַ֙רְצָה֙

and stamped

וַֽיִּרְמְסֵ֔הוּ

 

וְלֹא

 

הָיָ֥ה

upon him and there was none that could deliver

מַצִּ֛יל

in the ram

לָאַ֖יִל

out of his hand

מִיָּדֽוֹ׃

Therefore the he

וּצְפִ֥יר

goat

הָעִזִּ֖ים

great

הִגְדִּ֣יל

 

עַד

waxed very

מְאֹ֑ד

and when he was strong

וּכְעָצְמ֗וֹ

was broken

נִשְׁבְּרָה֙

horn

הַקֶּ֣רֶן

the great

הַגְּדֹלָ֔ה

and for it came up

וַֽתַּעֲלֶ֜נָה

notable ones

חָז֤וּת

לְאַרְבַּ֖ע

 

תַּחְתֶּ֔יהָ

לְאַרְבַּ֖ע

רוּח֥וֹת

of heaven

הַשָּׁמָֽיִם׃

 

וּמִן

And out of one

מֵהֶ֔ם

of them came forth

יָצָ֥א

horn

קֶֽרֶן

And out of one

אַחַ֖ת

a little

מִצְּעִירָ֑ה

great

וַתִּגְדַּל

which waxed exceeding

יֶ֛תֶר

 

אֶל

toward the south

הַנֶּ֥גֶב

 

וְאֶל

and toward the east

הַמִּזְרָ֖ח

 

וְאֶל

and toward the pleasant

הַצֶּֽבִי׃

And it waxed great

וַתִּגְדַּ֖ל

 

עַד

even to the host

הַצָּבָ֥א

of heaven

הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם

and it cast down

וַתַּפֵּ֥ל

to the ground

אַ֛רְצָה

 

מִן

even to the host

and of the stars

הַכּוֹכָבִ֖ים

and stamped

וַֽתִּרְמְסֵֽם׃

 

וְעַ֥ד

himself even to the prince

שַֽׂר

Yea he magnified

הִגְדִּ֑יל

 

וּמִמֶּ֙נּוּ֙

sacrifice was taken away

הרּיַ֣ם

and by him the daily

הַתָּמִ֔יד

was cast down

וְהֻשְׁלַ֖ךְ

and the place

מְכ֥וֹן

of his sanctuary

מִקְדָּשֽׁוֹ׃

And an host

וְצָבָ֛א

was given

תִּנָּתֵ֥ן

 

עַל

him against the daily

הַתָּמִ֖יד

sacrifice by reason of transgression

בְּפָ֑שַׁע

and it cast down

וְתַשְׁלֵ֤ךְ

the truth

אֱמֶת֙

to the ground

אַ֔רְצָה

and it practised

וְעָשְׂתָ֖ה

and prospered

וְהִצְלִֽיחָה׃

Then I heard

וָאֶשְׁמְעָ֥ה

and another

אֶחָ֨ד

saint

קָד֜וֹשׁ

saint which spake

הַֽמְדַבֵּ֗ר

said

וַיֹּאמֶר֩

and another

אֶחָ֨ד

saint

קָד֜וֹשׁ

unto that certain

לַפַּֽלְמוֹנִ֣י

saint which spake

הַֽמְדַבֵּ֗ר

 

עַד

 

מָתַ֞י

How long shall be the vision

הֶחָז֤וֹן

concerning the daily

הַתָּמִיד֙

sacrifice and the transgression

וְהַפֶּ֣שַׁע

of desolation

שֹׁמֵ֔ם

to give

תֵּ֛ת

both the sanctuary

וְקֹ֥דֶשׁ

and the host

וְצָבָ֖א

to be trodden under foot

מִרְמָֽס׃

And he said

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר

 

אֵלַ֔י

 

עַ֚ד

days

עֶ֣רֶב

 

בֹּ֔קֶר

unto me Unto two thousand

אַלְפַּ֖יִם

and three

וּשְׁלֹ֣שׁ

hundred

מֵא֑וֹת

be cleansed

וְנִצְדַּ֖ק

then shall the sanctuary

קֹֽדֶשׁ׃

 

וַיְהִ֗י

had seen

בִּרְאֹתִ֛י

 

אֲנִ֥י

And it came to pass when I even I Daniel

דָנִיֵּ֖אל

 

אֶת

the vision

הֶחָז֑וֹן

and sought

וָאֲבַקְשָׁ֣ה

for the meaning

בִינָ֔ה

 

וְהִנֵּ֛ה

then behold there stood

עֹמֵ֥ד

 

לְנֶגְדִּ֖י

before me as the appearance

כְּמַרְאֵה

of a man

גָֽבֶר׃

And I heard

וָאֶשְׁמַ֥ע

voice

קוֹל

a man's

אָדָ֖ם

 

בֵּ֣ין

between the banks of Ulai

אוּלָ֑י

which called

וַיִּקְרָא֙

and said

וַיֹּאמַ֔ר

Gabriel

גַּבְרִיאֵ֕ל

man to understand

הָבֵ֥ן

make this

לְהַלָּ֖ז

 

אֶת

the vision

הַמַּרְאֶֽה׃

So he came

וּבְבֹא֣וֹ

near

אֵ֣צֶל

where I stood

עָמְדִ֔י

So he came

וּבְבֹא֣וֹ

I was afraid

נִבְעַ֔תִּי

and fell

וָאֶפְּלָ֖ה

 

עַל

upon my face

פָּנָ֑י

but he said

וַיֹּ֤אמֶר

 

אֵלַי֙

unto me Understand

הָבֵ֣ן

O son

בֶּן

of man

אָדָ֔ם

 

כִּ֖י

for at the time

לְעֶת

of the end

קֵ֥ץ

shall be the vision

הֶחָזֽוֹן׃

Now as he was speaking

וּבְדַבְּר֣וֹ

 

עִמִּ֔י

with me I was in a deep sleep

נִרְדַּ֥מְתִּי

 

עַל

on my face

פָּנַ֖י

toward the ground

אָ֑רְצָה

but he touched

וַיִּ֨גַּע

 

בִּ֔י

me and set

וַיַּֽעֲמִידֵ֖נִי

 

עַל

me upright

עָמְדִֽי׃

And he said

וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙

 

הִנְנִ֣י

Behold I will make thee know

מוֹדִֽיעֲךָ֔

 

אֵ֥ת

 

אֲשֶׁר

 

יִהְיֶ֖ה

what shall be in the last end

בְּאַחֲרִ֣ית

of the indignation

הַזָּ֑עַם

 

כִּ֖י

for at the time appointed

לְמוֹעֵ֥ד

the end

קֵֽץ׃

The ram

הָאַ֥יִל

 

אֲשֶׁר

which thou sawest

רָאִ֖יתָ

having

בַּ֣עַל

two horns

הַקְּרָנָ֑יִם

are the kings

מַלְכֵ֖י

of Media

מָדַ֥י

and Persia

וּפָרָֽס׃

goat

וְהַצָּפִ֥יר

And the rough

הַשָּׂעִ֖יר

is the king

הַמֶּ֥לֶךְ

of Grecia

יָוָ֑ן

horn

וְהַקֶּ֤רֶן

and the great

הַגְּדוֹלָה֙

 

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

 

בֵּין

that is between his eyes

עֵינָ֔יו

 

ה֖וּא

is the king

הַמֶּ֥לֶךְ

is the first

הָרִאשֽׁוֹן׃

Now that being broken

וְהַ֨נִּשְׁבֶּ֔רֶת

shall stand up

יַעֲמֹ֖דְנָה

for it four

אַרְבַּ֧ע

 

תַּחְתֶּ֑יהָ

for it four

אַרְבַּ֧ע

kingdoms

מַלְכֻי֛וֹת

out of the nation

מִגּ֥וֹי

shall stand up

יַעֲמֹ֖דְנָה

 

וְלֹ֥א

but not in his power

בְכֹחֽוֹ׃

And in the latter time

וּֽבְאַחֲרִית֙

of their kingdom

מַלְכוּתָ֔ם

are come to the full

כְּהָתֵ֖ם

when the transgressors

הַפֹּשְׁעִ֑ים

shall stand up

יַעֲמֹ֛ד

a king

מֶ֥לֶךְ

of fierce

עַז

countenance

פָּנִ֖ים

and understanding

וּמֵבִ֥ין

dark sentences

חִידֽוֹת׃

shall be mighty

וְעָצַ֤ם

And his power

בְכֹח֔וֹ

 

וְלֹ֣א

And his power

בְכֹח֔וֹ

wonderfully

וְנִפְלָא֥וֹת

and he shall destroy

וְהִשְׁחִ֥ית

and shall prosper

וְהִצְלִ֣יחַ

and practise

וְעָשָׂ֑ה

and he shall destroy

וְהִשְׁחִ֥ית

the mighty

עֲצוּמִ֖ים

people

וְעַם

and the holy

קְדֹשִֽׁים׃

 

וְעַל

And through his policy

שִׂכְל֗וֹ

to prosper

וְהִצְלִ֤יחַ

also he shall cause craft

מִרְמָה֙

hand

יָ֖ד

himself in his heart

וּבִלְבָב֣וֹ

and he shall magnify

יַגְדִּ֔יל

and by peace

וּבְשַׁלְוָ֖ה

shall destroy

יַשְׁחִ֣ית

many

רַבִּ֑ים

 

וְעַ֤ל

against the Prince

שָׂרִים֙

against the Prince

שָׂרִים֙

he shall also stand up

יַעֲמֹ֔ד

without

וּבְאֶ֥פֶס

hand

יָ֖ד

but he shall be broken

יִשָּׁבֵֽר׃

And the vision

וּמַרְאֵ֨ה

of the evening

הָעֶ֧רֶב

and the morning

וְהַבֹּ֛קֶר

 

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

which was told

נֶאֱמַ֖ר

is true

אֱמֶ֣ת

 

ה֑וּא

 

וְאַתָּה֙

wherefore shut thou up

סְתֹ֣ם

the vision

הֶֽחָז֔וֹן

 

כִּ֖י

days

לְיָמִ֥ים

for it shall be for many

רַבִּֽים׃

 

וַאֲנִ֣י

And I Daniel

דָנִיֵּ֗אל

fainted

נִהְיֵ֤יתִי

and was sick

וְנֶֽחֱלֵ֙יתִי֙

certain days

יָמִ֔ים

afterward I rose up

וָאָק֕וּם

and did

וָאֶֽעֱשֶׂ֖ה

 

אֶת

business

מְלֶ֣אכֶת

the king's

הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ

and I was astonished

וָאֶשְׁתּוֹמֵ֥ם

 

עַל

at the vision

הַמַּרְאֶ֖ה

 

וְאֵ֥ין

but none understood

מֵבִֽין׃
