כֹּ֣ה׀
Thus saith
אָמַ֣ר
the LORD
יְהוָ֗ה

אֵ֣י

זֶ֠ה
Where is the bill
סֵ֣פֶר
divorcement
כְּרִית֤וּת
is your mother
אִמְּכֶֽם׃

אֲשֶׁ֣ר
put away
שֻׁלְּחָ֥ה

א֚וֹ

מִ֣י
or which of my creditors
מִנּוֹשַׁ֔י

אֲשֶׁר
have ye sold
נִמְכַּרְתֶּ֔ם

אֶתְכֶ֖ם

ל֑וֹ

הֵ֤ן
you Behold for your iniquities
בַּעֲוֹנֹֽתֵיכֶם֙
have ye sold
נִמְכַּרְתֶּ֔ם
yourselves and for your transgressions
וּבְפִשְׁעֵיכֶ֖ם
put away
שֻׁלְּחָ֥ה
is your mother
אִמְּכֶֽם׃
2

מַדּ֨וּעַ
Wherefore when I came
בָּ֜אתִי

וְאֵ֣ין
was there no man
אִ֗ישׁ
when I called
קָרָֽאתִי֮

וְאֵ֣ין
was there none to answer
עוֹנֶה֒
at all
קָצְרָ֤ה
at all
קָצְרָ֤ה
Is my hand
יָדִי֙
that it cannot redeem
מִפְּד֔וּת

וְאִם

אֵֽין

בִּ֥י
or have I no power
כֹ֖חַ
to deliver
לְהַצִּ֑יל

הֵ֣ן
behold at my rebuke
בְּגַעֲרָתִ֞י
I dry up
אַחֲרִ֣יב
the sea
יָ֗ם
I make
אָשִׂ֤ים
the rivers
נְהָרוֹת֙
a wilderness
מִדְבָּ֔ר
stinketh
תִּבְאַ֤שׁ
their fish
דְּגָתָם֙

מֵאֵ֣ין
because there is no water
מַ֔יִם
and dieth
וְתָמֹ֖ת
for thirst
בַּצָּמָֽא׃
3
I clothe
אַלְבִּ֥ישׁ
the heavens
שָׁמַ֖יִם
with blackness
קַדְר֑וּת
sackcloth
וְשַׂ֖ק
and I make
אָשִׂ֥ים
their covering
כְּסוּתָֽם׃
4
The Lord
אֲדֹנָ֣י
GOD
יְהוִֹ֗ה
hath given
נָ֤תַן

לִי֙
me the tongue
לְשׁ֣וֹן
as the learned
כַּלִּמּוּדִֽים׃
that I should know
לָדַ֛עַת
how to speak
לָע֥וּת

אֶת
in season to him that is weary
יָעֵ֖ף
a word
דָּבָ֑ר
he wakeneth
יָעִ֥יר
by morning
בַּבֹּ֗קֶר
by morning
בַּבֹּ֗קֶר
he wakeneth
יָעִ֥יר

לִי֙
mine ear
אֹ֔זֶן
to hear
לִשְׁמֹ֖עַ
as the learned
כַּלִּמּוּדִֽים׃
5
The Lord
אֲדֹנָ֤י

יְהוִה֙
hath opened
פָּתַֽח

לִ֣י
mine ear
אֹ֔זֶן

וְאָנֹכִ֖י

לֹ֣א
and I was not rebellious
מָרִ֑יתִי
back
אָח֖וֹר

לֹ֥א
neither turned away
נְסוּגֹֽתִי׃
6
my back
גֵּוִי֙
I gave
נָתַ֣תִּי
to the smiters
לְמַכִּ֔ים
and my cheeks
וּלְחָיַ֖י
to them that plucked off
לְמֹֽרְטִ֑ים
not my face
פָּנַי֙

לֹ֣א
the hair I hid
הִסְתַּ֔רְתִּי
from shame
מִכְּלִמּ֖וֹת
and spitting
וָרֹֽק׃
7
For the Lord
וַאדֹנָ֤י
GOD
יְהוִה֙
will help
יַֽעֲזָר

לִ֔י

עַל

כֵּ֖ן

לֹ֣א
me therefore shall I not be confounded
נִכְלָ֑מְתִּי

עַל

כֵּ֞ן
therefore have I set
שַׂ֤מְתִּי
my face
פָנַי֙
like a flint
כַּֽחַלָּמִ֔ישׁ
and I know
וָאֵדַ֖ע

כִּי

לֹ֥א
that I shall not be ashamed
אֵבֽוֹשׁ׃
8
He is near
קָרוֹב֙
that justifieth
מַצְדִּיקִ֔י

מִֽי
me who will contend
יָרִ֥יב

אִתִּ֖י
with me let us stand
נַ֣עַמְדָה
together
יָּ֑חַד

מִֽי
who is mine adversary
בַ֥עַל

מִשְׁפָּטִ֖י
let him come near
יִגַּ֥שׁ

אֵלָֽי׃
9

הֵ֣ן
Behold the Lord
אֲדֹנָ֤י
GOD
יְהוִה֙
will help
יַֽעֲזָר

לִ֔י

מִי

ה֖וּא
me who is he that shall condemn
יַרְשִׁיעֵ֑נִי

הֵ֤ן

כֻּלָּם֙
as a garment
כַּבֶּ֣גֶד
me lo they all shall wax old
יִבְל֔וּ
the moth
עָ֖שׁ
shall eat them up
יֹאכְלֵֽם׃
10

מִ֤י

בָכֶם֙
Who is among you that feareth
יְרֵ֣א
of the LORD
יְהוָ֔ה
that obeyeth
שֹׁמֵ֖עַ
the voice
בְּק֣וֹל
of his servant
עַבְדּ֑וֹ

אֲשֶׁ֣ר׀
that walketh
הָלַ֣ךְ
in darkness
חֲשֵׁכִ֗ים

וְאֵ֥ין
and hath no light
נֹ֙גַהּ֙

ל֔וֹ
let him trust
יִבְטַח֙
in the name
בְּשֵׁ֣ם
of the LORD
יְהוָ֔ה
and stay
וְיִשָּׁעֵ֖ן
upon his God
בֵּאלֹהָֽיו׃
11

הֵ֧ן

כֻּלְּכֶ֛ם
Behold all ye that kindle
קֹ֥דְחֵי
a fire
אֶשְׁכֶ֗ם
that compass yourselves about
מְאַזְּרֵ֣י
and in the sparks
וּבְזִיקוֹת֙

לְכ֣וּ׀
in the light
בְּא֣וּר
a fire
אֶשְׁכֶ֗ם
and in the sparks
וּבְזִיקוֹת֙
that ye have kindled
בִּֽעַרְתֶּ֔ם
This shall ye have of mine hand
מִיָּדִי֙

הָיְתָה

זֹּ֣את

לָכֶ֔ם
in sorrow
לְמַעֲצֵבָ֖ה
ye shall lie down
תִּשְׁכָּבֽוּן׃
