וְאַרְבֵּֽהוּ׃

he will comfort

נִחַם֙

For the LORD

יְהוָ֑ה

Zion

צִיּ֗וֹן

he will comfort

כָּל

all her waste places

חָרְבֹתֶ֔יהָ

and he will make

וַיָּ֤שֶׂם

her wilderness

מִדְבָּרָהּ֙

like Eden

כְּעֵ֔דֶן

and her desert

וְעַרְבָתָ֖הּ

like the garden

כְּגַן

For the LORD

יְהוָ֑ה

joy

שָׂשׂ֤וֹן

and gladness

וְשִׂמְחָה֙

shall be found

יִמָּ֣צֵא

 

בָ֔הּ

therein thanksgiving

תּוֹדָ֖ה

and the voice

וְק֥וֹל

of melody

זִמְרָֽה׃

Hearken

הַקְשִׁ֤יבוּ

 

אֵלַי֙

of the people

עַמִּ֖ים

unto me O my nation

וּלְאוּמִּ֖י

 

אֵלַ֣י

and give ear

הַאֲזִ֑ינוּ

 

כִּ֤י

for a law

תוֹרָה֙

 

מֵאִתִּ֣י

shall proceed

תֵצֵ֔א

from me and I will make my judgment

וּמִשְׁפָּטִ֔י

for a light

לְא֥וֹר

of the people

עַמִּ֖ים

to rest

אַרְגִּֽיעַ׃

is near

קָר֤וֹב

My righteousness

צִדְקִי֙

is gone forth

יָצָ֣א

my salvation

יִשְׁעִ֔י

and mine arms

זְרֹעִ֖י

the people

עַמִּ֣ים

shall judge

יִשְׁפֹּ֑טוּ

 

אֵלַי֙

the isles

אִיִּ֣ים

shall wait

יְקַוּ֔וּ

 

וְאֶל

and mine arms

זְרֹעִ֖י

shall they trust

יְיַחֵלֽוּן׃

Lift up

שְׂאוּ֩

beneath for the heavens

שָׁמַ֜יִם

your eyes

עֵֽינֵיכֶ֜ם

and look

וְֽהַבִּ֧יטוּ

 

אֶל

and the earth

וְהָאָ֙רֶץ֙

 

מִתַּ֗חַת

 

כִּֽי

beneath for the heavens

שָׁמַ֜יִם

like smoke

כֶּעָשָׁ֤ן

shall vanish away

נִמְלָ֙חוּ֙

and the earth

וְהָאָ֙רֶץ֙

like a garment

כַּבֶּ֣גֶד

shall wax old

תִּבְלֶ֔ה

and they that dwell

וְיֹשְׁבֶ֖יהָ

in like

כְּמוֹ

 

כֵ֣ן

therein shall die

יְמוּת֑וּן

but my salvation

וִישֽׁוּעָתִי֙

shall be for ever

לְעוֹלָ֣ם

 

תִּֽהְיֶ֔ה

and my righteousness

וְצִדְקָתִ֖י

 

לֹ֥א

shall not be abolished

תֵחָֽת׃

Hearken

שִׁמְע֤וּ

 

אֵלַי֙

unto me ye that know

יֹ֣דְעֵי

righteousness

צֶ֔דֶק

the people

עַ֖ם

is my law

תּוֹרָתִ֣י

in whose heart

בְלִבָּ֑ם

 

אַל

fear

תִּֽירְאוּ֙

ye not the reproach

חֶרְפַּ֣ת

of men

אֱנ֔וֹשׁ

of their revilings

וּמִגִּדֻּפֹתָ֖ם

 

אַל

neither be ye afraid

תֵּחָֽתּוּ׃

 

כִּ֤י

like a garment

כַבֶּ֙גֶד֙

shall eat

יֹאכְלֵ֣ם

For the moth

עָ֔שׁ

them like wool

וְכַצֶּ֖מֶר

shall eat

יֹאכְלֵ֣ם

and the worm

סָ֑ס

but my righteousness

וְצִדְקָתִי֙

shall be for ever

לְעוֹלָ֣ם

 

תִּֽהְיֶ֔ה

and my salvation

וִישׁוּעָתִ֖י

from generation

Therefore the redeemed

וּפְדוּיֵ֨י

of the LORD

וּבָ֤אוּ

unto Zion

צִיּוֹן֙

with singing

בְּרִנָּ֔ה

and joy

וְשִׂמְחָה֙

and everlasting

עוֹלָ֖ם

 

עַל

shall be upon their head

רֹאשָׁ֑ם

gladness

שָׂשׂ֤וֹן

and joy

וְשִׂמְחָה֙

they shall obtain

יַשִּׂיג֔וּן

shall flee away

נָ֖סוּ

and sorrow

and mourning

וַאֲנָחָֽה׃

I even I am he that comforteth

you who art thou that thou shouldest be afraid

יָמ֔וּת

and of the son

וּמִבֶּן

as grass

חָצִ֥יר

which shall be made

יִנָּתֵֽן׃

And forgettest

וַתִּשְׁכַּ֞ח

the LORD

יְהוָ֣ה

thy maker

עֹשֶׂ֗ךָ

that hath stretched forth

נוֹטֶ֣ה

the heavens

שָׁמַיִם֮

and laid the foundations

וְיֹסֵ֣ד

of the earth

אָרֶץ֒

and hast feared

וַתְּפַחֵ֨ד

continually

תָּמִ֜יד

 

כָּל

every day

הַיּ֗וֹם

because

מִפְּנֵי֙

and where is the fury

חֲמַ֥ת

of the oppressor

הַמֵּצִֽיק׃

as if

כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר

he were ready

כּוֹנֵ֖ן

to destroy

לְהַשְׁחִ֑ית

 

וְאַיֵּ֖ה

and where is the fury

חֲמַ֥ת

of the oppressor

hasteneth

מִהַ֥ר

The captive exile

צֹעֶ֖ה

that he may be loosed

לְהִפָּתֵ֑חַ

 

וְלֹא

and that he should not die

יָמ֣וּת

in the pit

לַשַּׁ֔חַת

 

וְלֹ֥א

should fail

יֶחְסַ֖ר

nor that his bread

But I am the LORD

אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ

וַיֶּהֱמ֖וּ

גַּלָּ֑יו

But I am the LORD

יְהוָ֥ה

of hosts

צְבָא֖וֹת

is his name

שְׁמֽוֹ׃

And I have put

וָאָשִׂ֤ם

my words

דְּבָרַי֙

in thy mouth

בְּפִ֔יךָ

thee in the shadow

וּבְצֵ֥ל

of mine hand

יָדִ֖י

and I have covered

כִּסִּיתִ֑יךָ

that I may plant

לִנְטֹ֤עַ

the heavens

שָׁמַ֙יִם֙

and lay the foundations

וְלִיסֹ֣ד

of the earth

אָ֔רֶץ

and say

וְלֵאמֹ֥ר

unto Zion

לְצִיּ֖וֹן

Thou art my people

עַמִּי

 

אָֽתָּה׃

הִֽתְעוֹרְרִ֗י

ק֚וּמִי

O Jerusalem

יְר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔ם

thou hast drunken

שָׁתִ֖ית

at the hand

מִיַּ֥ד

of the LORD

יְהוָ֖ה

 

אֶת

of the cup

כּ֧וֹס

of his fury

חֲמָת֑וֹ

 

אֶת

the dregs

קֻבַּ֜עַת

of the cup

כּ֧וֹס

of trembling

הַתַּרְעֵלָ֛ה

thou hast drunken

שָׁתִ֖ית

and wrung them out

מָצִֽית׃

 

אֵין

There is none to guide

מְנַהֵ֣ל

 

לָ֔הּ

 

מִכָּל

her among all the sons

בָּנִ֖ים

whom she hath brought forth

יָלָ֑דָה

 

וְאֵ֤ין

neither is there any that taketh

מַחֲזִיק֙

her by the hand

בְּיָדָ֔הּ

These two

שְׁתַּ֤יִם

 

הֵ֙נָּה֙

things are come

קֹֽרְאֹתַ֔יִךְ

unto thee who shall be sorry

יָנ֣וּד

 

לָ֑ךְ

for thee desolation

הַשֹּׁ֧ד

and destruction

וְהַשֶּׁ֛בֶר

and the famine

וְהָרָעָ֥ב

and the sword

וְהַחֶ֖רֶב

 

מִ֥י

by whom shall I comfort

אֲנַחֲמֵֽךְ׃

Thy sons

בָּנַ֜יִךְ

have fainted

עֻלְּפ֥וּ

they lie

שָׁכְב֛וּ

at the head

בְּרֹ֥אשׁ

 

כָּל

of all the streets

חוּצ֖וֹת

as a wild bull

כְּת֣וֹא

in a net

מִכְמָ֑ר

they are full

הַֽמְלֵאִ֥ים

of the fury

חֲמַת

of the LORD

יְהוָ֖ה

the rebuke

גַּעֲרַ֥ת

of thy God

אֱלֹהָֽיִךְ׃

 

לָכֵ֛ן

Therefore hear

שִׁמְעִי

 

נָ֥א

 

זֹ֖את

now this thou afflicted

עֲנִיָּ֑ה

and drunken

וּשְׁכֻרַ֖ת

 

וְלֹ֥א

but not with wine

מִיָּֽיִן׃

 

כֹּֽה

Thus saith

אָמַ֞ר

thy Lord

אֲדֹנַ֣יִךְ

the LORD

יְהוָ֗ה

and thy God

וֵאלֹהַ֙יִךְ֙

that pleadeth

יָרִ֣יב

the cause of his people

עַמּ֔וֹ

 

הִנֵּ֥ה

Behold I have taken out

לָקַ֛חְתִּי

of thine hand

מִיָּדֵ֖ךְ

 

אֶת

of the cup

כּ֣וֹס

of trembling

הַתַּרְעֵלָ֑ה

 

אֶת

even the dregs

קֻבַּ֙עַת֙

of the cup

כּ֣וֹס

of my fury

חֲמָתִ֔י

 

לֹא

thou shalt no more

תוֹסִ֥יפִי

drink it again

לִשְׁתּוֹתָ֖הּ

But I will put

וַתָּשִׂ֤ימִי

it into the hand

בְּיַד

of them that afflict

מוֹגַ֔יִךְ

 

אֲשֶׁר

thee which have said

אָמְר֥וּ

to thy soul

לְנַפְשֵׁ֖ךְ

Bow down

שְׁחִ֣י

that we may go over

לַעֹבְרִֽים׃

But I will put

וַתָּשִׂ֤ימִי

as the ground

כָאָ֙רֶץ֙

thy body

גֵּוֵ֔ךְ

and as the street

וְכַח֖וּץ

that we may go over

לַעֹבְרִֽים׃
