in the earth

בָּאָ֔רֶץ

and from walking up and down

וּמֵֽהִתְהַלֵּ֖ךְ

 

בָּֽהּ׃

said

וַיֹּ֨אמֶר

And the LORD

יְהוָ֜ה

 

אֶל

unto Satan

הַשָּׂטָ֗ן

Hast thou

הֲשַׂ֣מְתָּ

considered

לִבְּךָ֮

 

אֶל

my servant

עַבְדִּ֣י

אִיּוֹב֒

 

כִּי֩

 

אֵ֨ין

 

כָּמֹ֜הוּ

that there is none like him in the earth

בָּאָ֗רֶץ

man

אִ֣ישׁ

a perfect

תָּ֧ם

and an upright

וְיָשָׁ֛ר

one that feareth

יְרֵ֥א

God

אֱלֹהִ֖ים

and escheweth

וְסָ֣ר

evil

מֵרָ֑ע

 

וְעֹדֶ֙נּוּ֙

and still he holdeth fast

מַֽחֲזִ֣יק

his integrity

בְּתֻמָּת֔וֹ

although thou movedst

וַתְּסִיתֵ֥נִי

 

ב֖וֹ

me against him to destroy

לְבַלְּע֥וֹ

him without cause

חִנָּֽם׃

answered

וַיַּ֧עַן

And Satan

הַשָּׂטָ֛ן

 

אֶת

the LORD

יְהוָ֖ה

and said

וַיֹּאמַ֑ר

Skin

ע֗וֹר

 

בְּעַד

yea all that a man

לָאִ֔ישׁ

hath will he give

יִתֵּ֖ן

 

בְּעַ֥ד

for his life

שְֽׁלַֽח

 

נָ֣א

thine hand

יָֽדְךָ֔

now and touch

וְגַ֥ע

 

אֶל

his bone

עַצְמ֖וֹ

 

וְאֶל

and his flesh

בְּשָׂר֑וֹ

 

אִם

 

לֹ֥א

 

אֶל

thee to thy face

פָּנֶ֖יךָ

and he will curse

יְבָרֲכֶֽךָּ׃

וַיֹּ֧אמֶר

And the LORD

unto Satan

הַשָּׂטָ֖ן

 

הִנּ֣וֹ

Behold he is in thine hand

בְיָדֶ֑ךָ

his life

נַפְשׁ֥וֹ

but save

שְׁמֹֽר׃

So went

וַיֵּצֵא֙

Satan

הַשָּׂטָ֔ן

 

מֵאֵ֖ת

from the presence

פְּנֵ֣י

of the LORD

יְהוָ֑ה

and smote

וַיַּ֤ךְ

 

אֶת

Job

אִיּוֹב֙

boils

בִּשְׁחִ֣ין

with sore

רָ֔ע

from the sole

מִכַּ֥ף

of his foot

רַגְל֖וֹ

 

עַ֥ד

unto his crown

קָדְקֳדֽוֹ׃

And he took

וַיִּֽקַּֽח

 

ל֣וֹ

him a potsherd

חֶ֔רֶשׂ

to scrape

לְהִתְגָּרֵ֖ד

 

בּ֑וֹ

 

וְה֖וּא

himself withal and he sat down

יֹשֵׁ֥ב

among

בְּתוֹךְ

the ashes

הָאֵֽפֶר׃

Then said

וַתֹּ֤אמֶר

 

לוֹ֙

his wife

אִשְׁתּ֔וֹ

 

עֹֽדְךָ֖

unto him Dost thou still retain

מַֽחֲזִ֣יק

thine integrity

בְּתֻמָּתֶ֑ךָ

curse

בָּרֵ֥ךְ

God

אֱלֹהִ֖ים

and die

וָמֻֽת׃

But he said

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר

 

אֵלֶ֗יהָ

speaketh

תְּדַבֵּ֔רִי

as one

אַחַ֤ת

of the foolish women

הַנְּבָלוֹת֙

speaketh

תְּדַבֵּ֔רִי

What

גַּ֣ם

הַטּ֗וֹב

and shall we not receive

נְקַבֵּ֑ל

 

מֵאֵ֣ת

at the hand of God

הָֽאֱלֹהִ֔ים

Now when Job's

אִיּ֗וֹב

 

אֵ֣ת

of all this evil

הָֽרָעָ֣ה

 

הַזֹּאת֮

that was come

לָב֥וֹא

 

עָלָיו֒

every one

אִ֣ישׁ

from his own place

מִמְּקֹמ֔וֹ

הַתֵּֽימָנִי֙

וּבִלְדַּ֣ד

הַשּׁוּחִ֔י

and Zophar

וְצוֹפַ֖ר

the Naamathite

הַנַּֽעֲמָתִ֑י

for they had made an appointment

וַיִּוָּֽעֲד֣וּ

יַחְדָּ֔ו

to mourn

And when they lifted up

So they sat down

וְשִׁבְעַ֣ת

לֵיל֑וֹת

and none spake

דֹּבֵ֤ר

 

אֵלָיו֙

a word

דָּבָ֔ר

 

כִּ֣י

unto him for they saw

רָא֔וּ

 

כִּֽי

great

גָדַ֥ל

that his grief

הַכְּאֵ֖ב

was very

מְאֹֽד׃
