my breath

נִשְׁמָתִ֣י

 

בִ֑י

is in me and the spirit

וְר֖וּחַ

of God

אֱל֣וֹהַּ

is in my nostrils

בְּאַפִּֽי׃

 

אִם

shall not speak

תְּדַבֵּ֣רְנָה

My lips

שְׂפָתַ֣י

wickedness

עַוְלָ֑ה

nor my tongue

וּ֝לְשׁוֹנִ֗י

 

אִם

utter

יֶהְגֶּ֥ה

deceit

רְמִיָּֽה׃

God forbid

חָלִ֣ילָה

 

לִּי֮

 

אִם

that I should justify

אַצְדִּ֪יק

 

אֶ֫תְכֶ֥ם

 

עַד

you till I die

אֶגְוָ֑ע

 

לֹא

I will not remove

אָסִ֖יר

mine integrity

תֻּמָּתִ֣י

 

מִמֶּֽנִּי׃

My righteousness

בְּצִדְקָתִ֣י

I hold

הֶ֭חֱזַקְתִּי

 

וְלֹ֣א

fast and will not let it go

אַרְפֶּ֑הָ

 

לֹֽא

shall not reproach

יֶחֱרַ֥ף

my heart

לְ֝בָבִ֗י

me so long as I live

מִיָּמָֽי׃

 

יְהִ֣י

be as the wicked

כְ֭רָשָׁע

Let mine enemy

אֹ֣יְבִ֑י

and he that riseth up

וּמִתְקוֹמְמִ֥י

against me as the unrighteous

כְעַוָּֽל׃

 

כִּ֤י

 

מַה

For what is the hope

תִּקְוַ֣ת

of the hypocrite

חָ֭נֵף

 

כִּ֣י

though he hath gained

יִבְצָ֑ע

 

כִּ֤י

taketh away

יֵ֖שֶׁל

when God

אֱל֣וֹהַּ

his soul

נַפְשֽׁוֹ׃

his cry

הַֽ֭צַעֲקָתוֹ

hear

יִשְׁמַ֥ע׀

Will God

אֵ֑ל

 

כִּֽי

cometh

תָב֖וֹא

 

עָלָ֣יו

when trouble

צָרָֽה׃

 

אִם

 

עַל

himself in the Almighty

שַׁדַּ֥י

Will he delight

יִתְעַנָּ֑ג

call

יִקְרָ֖א

upon God

אֱל֣וֹהַּ

 

בְּכָל

will he always

עֵֽת׃

I will teach

אוֹרֶ֣ה

 

אֶתְכֶ֣ם

you by the hand

בְּיַד

of God

אֵ֑ל

 

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

 

עִם

that which is with the Almighty

שַׁ֝דַּ֗י

 

לֹ֣א

will I not conceal

אֲכַחֵֽד׃

 

הֵן

 

אַתֶּ֣ם

 

כֻּלְּכֶ֣ם

Behold all ye yourselves have seen

חֲזִיתֶ֑ם

 

וְלָמָּה

 

זֶּ֝֗ה

it why then are ye thus altogether

הֶ֣בֶל

vain

תֶּהְבָּֽלוּ׃

 

זֶ֤ה׀

This is the portion

חֵֽלֶק

man

אָדָ֖ם

of a wicked

רָשָׁ֥ע׀

 

עִם

with God

אֵ֑ל

and the heritage

וְֽנַחֲלַ֥ת

of oppressors

עָ֝רִיצִ֗ים

of the Almighty

מִשַּׁדַּ֥י

which they shall receive

יִקָּֽחוּ׃

 

אִם

be multiplied

יִרְבּ֣וּ

If his children

בָנָ֣יו

it is for

לְמוֹ

the sword

חָ֑רֶב

and his offspring

וְ֝צֶאֱצָאָ֗יו

 

לֹ֣א

shall not be satisfied

יִשְׂבְּעוּ

with bread

לָֽחֶם׃

Those that remain

שְׂ֭רִידָיו

in death

בַּמָּ֣וֶת

of him shall be buried

יִקָּבֵ֑רוּ

and his widows

וְ֝אַלְמְנֹתָ֗יו

 

לֹ֣א

shall not weep

תִבְכֶּֽינָה׃

 

אִם

Though he heap up

יִצְבֹּ֣ר

as the dust

כֶּעָפָ֣ר

silver

כָּ֑סֶף

as the clay

וְ֝כַחֹ֗מֶר

and prepare

יָכִ֥ין

raiment

מַלְבּֽוּשׁ׃

He may prepare

יָ֭כִין

it but the just

וְצַדִּ֣יק

shall put it on

יִלְבָּ֑שׁ

the silver

וְ֝כֶ֗סֶף

and the innocent

נָקִ֥י

shall divide

יַחֲלֹֽק׃

He buildeth

בָּנָ֣ה

as a moth

כָעָ֣שׁ

his house

בֵּית֑וֹ

and as a booth

וּ֝כְסֻכָּ֗ה

maketh

עָשָׂ֥ה

that the keeper

נֹצֵֽר׃

The rich

עָשִׁ֣יר

man shall lie down

יִ֭שְׁכַּב

 

וְלֹ֣א

but he shall not be gathered

יֵאָסֵ֑ף

his eyes

עֵינָ֖יו

he openeth

פָּקַ֣ח

 

וְאֵינֶֽנּוּ׃

take hold

תַּשִּׂיגֵ֣הוּ

on him as waters

כַ֭מַּיִם

Terrors

בַּלָּה֑וֹת

in the night

לַ֝֗יְלָה

stealeth him away

גְּנָבַ֥תּוּ

a tempest

סוּפָֽה׃

wind carrieth him away

יִשָּׂאֵ֣הוּ

The east

קָדִ֣ים

 

וְיֵלַ֑ךְ

and as a storm hurleth

וִֽ֝ישָׂעֲרֵ֗הוּ

him out of his place

מִמְּקֹמֽוֹ׃

For God shall cast

וְיַשְׁלֵ֣ךְ

 

עָ֭לָיו

 

וְלֹ֣א

upon him and not spare

יַחְמֹ֑ל

out of his hand

מִ֝יָּד֗וֹ

flee

יִבְרָֽח׃

flee

יִבְרָֽח׃

Men shall clap

יִשְׂפֹּ֣ק

 

עָלֵ֣ימוֹ

their hands

כַפֵּ֑ימוֹ

at him and shall hiss

וְיִשְׁרֹ֥ק

 

עָ֝לָ֗יו

him out of his place

מִמְּקֹמֽוֹ׃
