1
My son
בְּ֭נִי
keep
שְׁמֹ֣ר
my words
אֲמָרָ֑י
my commandments
וּ֝מִצְוֹתַ֗י
and lay up
תִּצְפֹּ֥ן

אִתָּֽךְ׃
2
Keep
שְׁמֹ֣ר
my commandments
מִצְוֹתַ֣י
and live
וֶחְיֵ֑ה
and my law
וְ֝תוֹרָתִ֗י
as the apple
כְּאִישׁ֥וֹן
of thine eye
עֵינֶֽיךָ׃
3
Bind
קָשְׁרֵ֥ם

עַל
them upon thy fingers
אֶצְבְּעֹתֶ֑יךָ
write
כָּ֝תְבֵ֗ם

עַל
them upon the table
ל֥וּחַ
of thine heart
לִבֶּֽךָ׃
4
Say
אֱמֹ֣ר
unto wisdom
לַֽ֭חָכְמָה
Thou art my sister
אֲחֹ֣תִי

אָ֑תְּ
thy kinswoman
וּ֝מֹדָ֗ע
understanding
לַבִּינָ֥ה
and call
תִקְרָֽא׃
5
That they may keep
לִ֭שְׁמָרְךָ
woman
מֵאִשָּׁ֣ה
thee from the strange
זָרָ֑ה
from the stranger
מִ֝נָּכְרִיָּ֗ה
with her words
אֲמָרֶ֥יהָ
which flattereth
הֶחֱלִֽיקָה׃
6

כִּ֭י
For at the window
בְּחַלּ֣וֹן
of my house
בֵּיתִ֑י

בְּעַ֖ד
through my casement
אֶשְׁנַבִּ֣י
I looked
נִשְׁקָֽפְתִּי׃
7
And beheld
וָאֵ֤רֶא
among the simple ones
בַפְּתָאיִ֗ם
I discerned
אָ֘בִ֤ינָה
among the youths
בַבָּנִ֗ים
a young man
נַ֣עַר
void
חֲסַר
of understanding
לֵֽב׃
8
Passing through
עֹבֵ֣ר
the street
בַּ֭שּׁוּק
near
אֵ֣צֶל

פִּנָּ֑הּ
the way
וְדֶ֖רֶךְ
to her house
בֵּיתָ֣הּ
and he went
יִצְעָֽד׃
9
In the twilight
בְּנֶֽשֶׁף

בְּעֶ֥רֶב
in the evening
י֑וֹם
in the black
בְּאִישׁ֥וֹן
night
לַ֝֗יְלָה
and dark
וַאֲפֵלָֽה׃
10

וְהִנֵּ֣ה
him a woman
אִ֭שָּׁה
And behold there met
לִקְרָאת֑וֹ
with the attire
שִׁ֥ית
of an harlot
ז֝וֹנָ֗ה
and subtil
וּנְצֻ֥רַת
of heart
לֵֽב׃
11
She is loud
הֹמִיָּ֣ה

הִ֣יא
and stubborn
וְסֹרָ֑רֶת
not in her house
בְּ֝בֵיתָ֗הּ

לֹא
abide
יִשְׁכְּנ֥וּ
her feet
רַגְלֶֽיהָ׃
12
Now
פַּ֥עַם
is she without
בַּח֗וּץ
Now
פַּ֥עַם
in the streets
בָּרְחֹב֑וֹת
at
וְאֵ֖צֶל

כָּל
every corner
פִּנָּ֣ה
and lieth in wait
תֶאֱרֹֽב׃
13
So she caught
וְהֶחֱזִ֣יקָה

בּ֭וֹ
him and kissed
וְנָ֣שְׁקָה

לּ֑וֹ
him and with an impudent
הֵעֵ֥זָה
face
פָ֝נֶ֗יהָ
said
וַתֹּ֣אמַר

לֽוֹ׃
14
offerings
זִבְחֵ֣י
I have peace
שְׁלָמִ֣ים

עָלָ֑י
with me this day
הַ֝יּ֗וֹם
have I payed
שִׁלַּ֥מְתִּי
my vows
נְדָרָֽי׃
15

עַל

כֵּ֭ן
Therefore came I forth
יָצָ֣אתִי
to meet
לִקְרָאתֶ֑ךָ
thee diligently to seek
לְשַׁחֵ֥ר
thy face
פָּ֝נֶ֗יךָ
and I have found
וָאֶמְצָאֶֽךָּ׃
16
with coverings
מַ֭רְבַדִּים
I have decked
רָבַ֣דְתִּי
my bed
עַרְשִׂ֑י
of tapestry with carved
חֲ֝טֻב֗וֹת
works with fine linen
אֵט֥וּן
of Egypt
מִצְרָֽיִם׃
17
I have perfumed
נַ֥פְתִּי
my bed
מִשְׁכָּבִ֑י
with myrrh
מֹ֥ר
aloes
אֲ֝הָלִ֗ים
and cinnamon
וְקִנָּמֽוֹן׃
18

לְכָ֤ה
let us take our fill
נִרְוֶ֣ה
of love
דֹ֭דִים

עַד
until the morning
הַבֹּ֑קֶר
let us solace
נִ֝תְעַלְּסָ֗ה
ourselves with loves
בָּאֳהָבִֽים׃
19

כִּ֤י

אֵ֣ין
For the goodman
הָאִ֣ישׁ

בְּבֵית֑וֹ
he is gone

מֵרָחֽוֹק׃
20
a bag

of money
הַ֭כֶּסֶף
He hath taken
לָקַ֣ח
with him
בְּיָד֑וֹ
at the day
לְי֥וֹם
appointed
הַ֝כֵּ֗סֶא
and will come
יָבֹ֥א
home
בֵיתֽוֹ׃
21
she caused him to yield
הִ֭טַּתּוּ
With her much
בְּרֹ֣ב
fair speech
לִקְחָ֑הּ
with the flattering
בְּחֵ֥לֶק
of her lips
שְׂ֝פָתֶ֗יהָ
she forced
תַּדִּיחֶֽנּוּ׃
22
He goeth
ה֤וֹלֵ֥ךְ

יָבֹ֑א
of the stocks

וְלֹֽא

יָ֝דַ֗ע

כִּֽי

בְנַפְשׁ֥וֹ

24

וְעַתָּ֣ה
unto me now therefore O ye children
בָ֭נִים
Hearken
שִׁמְעוּ

לִ֑י
and attend
וְ֝הַקְשִׁ֗יבוּ
to the words
לְאִמְרֵי

25

אַל

to her ways
דְּרָכֶ֣יהָ
Let not thine heart

תֵּ֝תַע
in her paths
בִּנְתִיבוֹתֶֽיהָ׃
26

כִּֽי
many
רַבִּ֣ים
wounded
חֲלָלִ֣ים
For she hath cast down
הִפִּ֑ילָה
yea many strong
וַ֝עֲצֻמִ֗ים

כָּל
men have been slain
הֲרֻגֶֽיהָ׃
27
is the way
דַּרְכֵ֣י
to hell
שְׁא֣וֹל
Her house
בֵּיתָ֑הּ

יֹ֝רְד֗וֹת

אֶל
to the chambers
חַדְרֵי
