And David's

דָוִ֔ד

to comfort

לְנַֽחֲמ֛וֹ

him by the hand

בְּיַד

of his servants

עַבְדֵ֣י

 

אֶל

as his father

אָבִ֑יו

came

וַיָּבֹ֙אוּ֙

of his servants

And David's

דָוִ֔ד

into the land

it unto David

to meet

לִקְרָאתָ֔ם

them because the men

הָֽאֲנָשִׁ֖ים

ashamed

נִכְלָמִ֣ים

were greatly

מְאֹ֑ד

said

וַיֹּ֤אמֶר

and the king

הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙

Tarry

שְׁב֣וּ

at Jericho

בִֽירֵח֔וֹ

 

עַד

be grown

יְצַמַּ֥ח

until your beards

זְקַנְכֶ֖ם

and then return

וְשַׁבְתֶּֽם׃

וַיִּרְאוּ֙

And when the children

בְנֵֽי

of Ammon

that they stank

נִבְאֲשׁ֖וּ

and put the battle

מִלְחָמָ֖ה

at the entering in

פֶּ֣תַח

of the gate

הַשָּׁ֑עַר

and the Syrians

וַֽאֲרַ֨ם

of Zoba

and of Rehob

וּרְחוֹב֙

 

וְאִֽישׁ

 

ט֣וֹב

and Maacah

וּמַֽעֲכָ֔ה

were by themselves

לְבַדָּ֖ם

in the field

בַּשָּׂדֶֽה׃

When Joab

יוֹאָ֗ב

הָיְתָ֤ה

 

אֵלָיו֙

that the front

מִפָּנִ֖ים

הַמִּלְחָמָ֔ה

וּמֵֽאָח֑וֹר

וַֽיַּעֲרֹ֖ךְ

the Syrians

he delivered

into the hand

of Abishai

his brother

that he might put them in array

וַיַּֽעֲרֹ֕ךְ

And he said

וַיֹּ֗אמֶר

 

אִם

be too strong

יֶחֱזְק֣וּ

If the Syrians

אֲרָם֙

 

מִמֶּ֔נִּי

 

וְהָיִ֥תָה

 

לִּ֖י

for me then thou shalt help

לִֽישׁוּעָ֑ה

 

וְאִם

me but if the children

בְּנֵ֤י

of Ammon

עַמּוֹן֙

be too strong

יֶחֱזְק֣וּ

 

מִמְּךָ֔

for thee then I will come

וְהָֽלַכְתִּ֖י

and help

לְהוֹשִׁ֥יעַֽ

 

לָֽךְ׃

וְנִתְחַזַּק֙

of Ammon

saw

רָאוּ֙

 

כִּי

then fled

וַיָּנֻ֙סוּ֙

that the Syrians

אֲרָ֔ם

they also before

מִפְּנֵ֣י

אֲבִישַׁ֔י

and came

וַיָּבֹ֖א

And when the children

of Ammon

and came

to Jerusalem

saw

וַיַּ֣רְא

And when the Syrians

אֲרָ֔ם

 

כִּ֥י

that they were smitten

נִגַּ֖ף

before

לִפְנֵ֣י

Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל

they gathered

וַיֵּאָֽסְפ֖וּ

themselves together

יָֽחַד׃

וַיִּשְׁלַ֣ח

And Hadarezer

הֲדַדְעֶ֖זֶר

and brought out

וַיֹּצֵ֤א

and they came

to Helam

הֲדַדְעֶ֖זֶר

לִפְנֵיהֶֽם׃

And when it was told

וַיֻּגַּ֣ד

he gathered

all Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵל֙

and passed over

וַיַּֽעֲבֹ֣ר

וַיָּבֹ֖א

set themselves in array

וַיַּֽעַרְכ֤וּ

And the Syrians

And the Syrians

וַיַּשְׁלִ֥מוּ
