from off his bed

and walked
וַיִּתְהַלֵּךְ֙
 
עַל
and from the roof
הַגָּ֑ג

בֵּית
of the king's
הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ
he saw
וַיַּ֥רְא
a woman
וְהָ֣אִשָּׁ֔ה
washing
רֹחֶ֖צֶת
 
מֵעַ֣ל
and from the roof
הַגָּ֑ג
a woman
וְהָ֣אִשָּׁ֔ה
beautiful
טוֹבַ֥ת
to look upon
מַרְאֶ֖ה
was very
מְאֹֽד׃

and enquired

after the woman

And one said

וַיִּקָּחֶ֗הָ
her and she came in
וַתָּב֤וֹא

unto him and he lay
וַיִּשְׁכַּ֣ב
 
עִמָּ֗הּ
 
וְהִ֥יא
with her for she was purified
מִתְקַדֶּ֖שֶׁת
from her uncleanness
מִטֻּמְאָתָ֑הּ
and she returned
וַתָּ֖שָׁב

And it came to pass in the morning
בַבֹּ֔קֶר
wrote
וַיִּכְתֹּ֥ב
that David
דָּוִ֛ד
a letter
סֵ֖פֶר
 
אֶל
to Joab
יוֹאָ֑ב
and sent
וַיִּשְׁלַ֖ח
it by the hand
בְּיַ֥ד
of Uriah
אֽוּרִיָּֽה׃

And he wrote
וַיִּכְתֹּ֥ב
in the letter
בַּסֵּ֖פֶר
saying
לֵאמֹ֑ר
Set
הָב֣וּ

in the forefront

battle
הַמִּלְחָמָה֙

that he may be smitten

And the men

and there fell
וַיִּפֹּ֥ל

some of the people
הָעָ֖ם
of the servants

prevailed
גָבְר֤וּ
 
עָלֵ֙ינוּ֙
 
הָֽאֲנָשִׁ֔ים
against us and came out
וַיֵּֽצְא֥וּ
 
אֵלֵ֖ינוּ
unto us into the field
הַשָּׂדֶ֑ה
 
וַנִּֽהְיֶ֥ה
 
עֲלֵיהֶ֖ם
 
עַד
and we were upon them even unto the entering
פֶּ֥תַח
of the gate
הַשָּֽׁעַר׃

and she became his wife

him a son

displeased
וַיֵּ֧רַע
But the thing
הַדָּבָ֛ר
 
אֲשֶׁר
had done
עָשָׂ֥ה
