בְּיָד֔וֹ

them was clothed

לָבֻ֣שׁ

with linen

בַּדִּ֔ים

inkhorn

וְקֶ֥סֶת

with a writer's

הַסֹּפֵ֖ר

by his side

בְּמָתְנָ֑יו

and they went in

וַיָּבֹ֙אוּ֙

and stood

וַיַּ֣עַמְד֔וּ

beside

אֵ֖צֶל

altar

מִזְבַּ֥ח

the brasen

הַנְּחֹֽשֶׁת׃

And the glory

וּכְב֣וֹד׀

of the God

אֱלֹהֵ֣י

of Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל

was gone up

נַעֲלָה֙

 

מֵעַ֤ל

from the cherub

הַכְּרוּב֙

 

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

whereupon he was to the threshold

הַסֹּפֵ֖ר

by his side

בְּמָתְנָֽיו׃

said

וַיֹּ֤אמֶר

And the LORD

יְהוָה֙

 

אֵלָ֔ו

unto him Go through

עֲבֹר֙

in the midst

בְּתוֹכָֽהּ׃

of the city

הָעִ֔יר

in the midst

בְּתוֹכָֽהּ׃

of Jerusalem

יְרֽוּשָׁלִָ֑ם

and set

וְהִתְוִ֨יתָ

a mark

תָּ֜ו

 

עַל

upon the foreheads

מִצְח֣וֹת

of the men

הָאֲנָשִׁ֗ים

that sigh

הַנֶּֽאֱנָחִים֙

and that cry

וְהַנֶּ֣אֱנָקִ֔ים

 

עַ֚ל

 

כָּל

for all the abominations

הַתּ֣וֹעֵב֔וֹת

that be done

הַֽנַּעֲשׂ֖וֹת

in the midst

בְּתוֹכָֽהּ׃

And to the others

וּלְאֵ֙לֶּה֙

he said

אָמַ֣ר

in mine hearing

בְּאָזְנַ֔י

Go

עִבְר֥וּ

him through the city

בָעִ֛יר

ye after

אַחֲרָ֖יו

and smite

וְהַכּ֑וּ

 

עַל

spare

תָּחֹ֥ס

let not your eye

עֵינְכֶ֖ם

 

וְאַל

neither have ye pity

תַּחְמֹֽלוּ׃

at the ancient

הַזְּקֵנִ֔ים

and young

בָּח֣וּר

both maids

וּבְתוּלָה֩

and little children

וְטַ֨ף

and women

וְנָשִׁ֜ים

Slay

תַּהַרְג֣וּ

utterly

לְמַשְׁחִ֗ית

 

וְעַל

 

כָּל

any man

בָּאֲנָשִׁ֣ים

 

אֲשֶׁר

 

עָלָ֤יו

upon whom is the mark

הַתָּו֙

 

אַל

but come not near

תִּגַּ֔שׁוּ

at my sanctuary

וּמִמִּקְדָּשִׁ֖י

Then they began

וַיָּחֵ֙לּוּ֙

הַחֲצֵר֛וֹת

חֲלָלִ֖ים

And they went forth

וְיָצְא֖וּ

וְהִכּ֥וּ

בָעִֽיר׃

 

וַֽיְהִי֙

And it came to pass while they were slaying

כְּהַכּוֹתָ֔ם

them and I was left

וְנֵֽאשֲׁאַ֖ר

 

אָ֑נִי

that I fell

וָאֶפְּלָ֨ה

 

עַל

upon my face

פָּנַ֜י

and cried

וָאֶזְעַ֗ק

and said

וָֽאֹמַר֙

Ah

אֲהָהּ֙

Lord

אֲדֹנָ֣י

GOD

יְהוִ֔ה

wilt thou destroy

הֲמַשְׁחִ֣ית

 

אַתָּ֗ה

 

אֵ֚ת

 

כָּל

all the residue

שְׁאֵרִ֣ית

of Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל

in thy pouring out

בְּשָׁפְכְּךָ֥

 

אֶת

of thy fury

חֲמָתְךָ֖

upon Jerusalem

יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃

הָאָ֔רֶץ

of blood

דָּמִ֔ים

and the city

וְהָעִ֖יר

מָלְאָ֣ה

of perverseness

מֻטֶּ֑ה

 

כִּ֣י

Then said

אָמְר֗וּ

hath forsaken

עָזַ֤ב

The LORD

יְהוָ֖ה

 

אֶת

and the land

הָאָ֔רֶץ

 

וְאֵ֥ין

The LORD

יְהוָ֖ה

seeth

רֹאֶֽה׃

 

וְגַ֨ם

 

אֲנִ֔י

 

לֹא

shall not spare

תָח֥וֹס

And as for me also mine eye

עֵינִ֖י

 

וְלֹ֣א

neither will I have pity

אֶחְמֹ֑ל

their way

דַּרְכָּ֖ם

upon their head

בְּרֹאשָׁ֥ם

but I will recompense

נָתָֽתִּי׃

 

וְהִנֵּ֞ה

And behold the man

הָאִ֣ישׁ׀

clothed

לְבֻ֣שׁ

with linen

הַבַּדִּ֗ים

 

אֲשֶׁ֤ר

which had the inkhorn

הַקֶּ֙סֶת֙

by his side

בְּמָתְנָ֔יו

reported

מֵשִׁ֥יב

the matter

דָּבָ֖ר

saying

לֵאמֹ֑ר

I have done

עָשִׂ֕יתִי

 

כְּ֖אֲשֶׁ֥ר

as thou hast commanded

צִוִּיתָֽנִי׃
