answered
וַיַּ֥עַן
Then Job
אִיּ֗וֹב
and said
וַיֹּאמַֽר׃
2
I have heard
שָׁמַ֣עְתִּי

כְאֵ֣לֶּה
many such things
רַבּ֑וֹת
comforters
מְנַחֲמֵ֖י
miserable
עָמָ֣ל

כֻּלְּכֶֽם׃
3
have an end
הֲקֵ֥ץ
words
לְדִבְרֵי
Shall vain
ר֑וּחַ

א֥וֹ

מַה
or what emboldeneth
יַּ֝מְרִֽיצְךָ֗

כִּ֣י
thee that thou answerest
תַעֲנֶֽה׃
4

גַּ֤ם׀

אָנֹכִי֮

כָּכֶ֪ם
I also could speak
אֲדַ֫בֵּ֥רָה
as ye do if
ל֤וּ
were
יֵ֪שׁ
in my soul's
נַפְשִׁ֗י

תַּ֤חַת
in my soul's
נַפְשִׁ֗י
stead I could heap up
אַחְבִּ֣ירָה

עֲלֵיכֶ֣ם
words
בְּמִלִּ֑ים
against you and shake
וְאָנִ֥יעָה

עֲ֝לֵיכֶ֗ם
at
בְּמ֣וֹ
mine head
רֹאשִֽׁי׃
5
But I would strengthen
אֲאַמִּצְכֶ֥ם
you with
בְּמוֹ
my mouth
פִ֑י
and the moving
וְנִ֖יד
of my lips
שְׂפָתַ֣י
should asswage
יַחְשֹֽׂךְ׃
6

אִֽם
Though I speak
אֲ֭דַבְּרָה

לֹא
is not asswaged
יֵחָשֵׂ֣ךְ
my grief
כְּאֵבִ֑י
and though I forbear
וְ֝אַחְדְּלָ֗ה

מַה

מִנִּ֥י
what am I eased
יַהֲלֹֽךְ׃
7

אַךְ

עַתָּ֥ה
But now he hath made me weary
הֶלְאָ֑נִי
thou hast made desolate
הֲ֝שִׁמּ֗וֹתָ

כָּל
all my company
עֲדָתִֽי׃
8
And thou hast filled me with wrinkles
וַֽ֭תִּקְמְטֵנִי
which is a witness
לְעֵ֣ד

הָיָ֑ה
rising up
וַיָּ֥קָם

בִּ֥י
against me and my leanness
כַ֝חֲשִׁ֗י
to my face
בְּפָנַ֥י
in me beareth witness
יַעֲנֶֽה׃
9
me in his wrath
אַפּ֤וֹ
He teareth
טָרַ֨ף׀
who hateth
וַֽיִּשְׂטְמֵ֗נִי
me he gnasheth
חָרַ֣ק

עָלַ֣י
upon me with his teeth
בְּשִׁנָּ֑יו
mine enemy
צָרִ֓י׀
sharpeneth
יִלְטֹ֖שׁ
his eyes
עֵינָ֣יו

לִֽי׃
10
They have gaped
פָּעֲר֬וּ

עָלַ֨י׀
upon me with their mouth
בְּפִיהֶ֗ם
reproachfully
בְּ֭חֶרְפָּה
they have smitten
הִכּ֣וּ
me upon the cheek
לְחָיָ֑י
themselves together
יַ֝֗חַד

עָלַ֥י
they have gathered
יִתְמַלָּאֽוּן׃
11
hath delivered
יַסְגִּירֵ֣נִי
God
אֵ֭ל

אֶ֣ל
me to the ungodly
עֲוִ֑יל

וְעַל
into the hands
יְדֵ֖י
of the wicked
רְשָׁעִ֣ים
and turned me over
יִרְטֵֽנִי׃
12
I was at ease
שָׁ֘לֵ֤ו

הָיִ֨יתִי׀
but he hath broken me asunder
וַֽיְפַרְפְּרֵ֗נִי
he hath also taken
וְאָחַ֣ז
me by my neck
בְּ֭עָרְפִּי
and shaken me to pieces
וַֽיְפַצְפְּצֵ֑נִי
and set me up
וַיְקִימֵ֥נִי

ל֝֗וֹ
for his mark
לְמַטָּרָֽה׃
13
compass me round about
יָ֘סֹ֤בּוּ

עָלַ֨י׀
His archers
רַבָּ֗יו
asunder
יְפַלַּ֣ח
my reins
כִּ֭לְיוֹתַי

וְלֹ֣א
and doth not spare
יַחְמ֑וֹל
he poureth out
יִשְׁפֹּ֥ךְ
upon the ground
לָ֝אָ֗רֶץ
my gall
מְרֵרָֽתִי׃
14
He breaketh
יִפְרְצֵ֣נִי
breach
פָ֑רֶץ

עַל
upon
פְּנֵי
breach
פָ֑רֶץ
he runneth
יָרֻ֖ץ

עָלַ֣י
upon me like a giant
כְּגִבּֽוֹר׃
15
sackcloth
שַׂ֣ק
I have sewed
תָּ֭פַרְתִּי

עֲלֵ֣י
upon my skin
גִלְדִּ֑י
and defiled
וְעֹלַ֖לְתִּי
in the dust
בֶעָפָ֣ר
my horn
קַרְנִֽי׃
16
My face
פָּנַ֣י
is foul
חֳ֭מַרְמְרהּ

מִנִּי
with weeping
בֶ֑כִי

וְעַ֖ל
and on my eyelids
עַפְעַפַּ֣י
is the shadow of death
צַלְמָֽוֶת׃
17

עַ֭ל

לֹא
Not for any injustice
חָמָ֣ס
in mine hands
בְּכַפָּ֑י
also my prayer
וּֽתְפִלָּתִ֥י
is pure
זַכָּֽה׃
18
O earth
אֶ֭רֶץ

אַל
cover
תְּכַסִּ֣י
not thou my blood
דָמִ֑י

וְֽאַל

יְהִ֥י
have no place
מָ֝ק֗וֹם
and let my cry
לְזַעֲקָתִֽי׃
19

גַּם

עַ֭תָּה

הִנֵּה
is in heaven
בַשָּׁמַ֣יִם
Also now behold my witness
עֵדִ֑י
and my record
וְ֝שָׂהֲדִ֗י
is on high
בַּמְּרֹמִֽים׃
20
scorn
מְלִיצַ֥י
My friends
רֵעָ֑י

אֶל
tears unto God
אֱ֝ל֗וֹהַ
poureth out
דָּלְפָ֥ה
me but mine eye
עֵינִֽי׃
21
O that one might plead
וְיוֹכַ֣ח
for a man
לְגֶ֣בֶר

עִם
with God
אֱל֑וֹהַּ
pleadeth for his neighbour
וּֽבֶן
as a man
אָדָ֥ם

לְרֵעֵֽהוּ׃
22

כִּֽי
years
שְׁנ֣וֹת
When a few
מִסְפָּ֣ר
are come
יֶאֱתָ֑יוּ
the way
וְאֹ֖רַח

לֹא
whence I shall not return
אָשׁ֣וּב
then I shall go
אֶהֱלֹֽךְ׃
