Then was kindled

חָרָ֣ה

the wrath

אַפּ֑וֹ

 

עַֽל

because he justified

צַדְּק֥וֹ

himself

נַ֝פְשׁ֗וֹ

rather than God

מֵאֱלֹהִֽים׃

Also against his three

וּבִשְׁלֹ֣שֶׁת

friends

רֵעָיו֮

kindled

חָרָ֪ה

was his wrath

אַ֫פּ֥וֹ

 

עַ֤ל

 

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

 

לֹא

because they had found

מָצְא֣וּ

no answer

מַעֲנֶ֑ה

and yet had condemned

וַ֝יַּרְשִׁ֗יעוּ

 

אֶת

Job

אִיּֽוֹב׃

Now Elihu

וֶֽאֱלִיה֗וּ

had waited

חִכָּ֣ה

 

אֶת

till Job

אִ֭יּוֹב

had spoken

בִּדְבָרִ֑ים

 

כִּ֤י

because they were elder

זְֽקֵנִים

 

הֵ֖מָּה

 

מִמֶּ֣נּוּ

 

לְיָמִֽים׃

saw

וַיַּ֤רְא

When Elihu

אֱלִיה֗וּא

 

כִּ֘י

 

אֵ֤ין

that there was no answer

מַעֲנֶ֗ה

in the mouth

בְּ֭פִי

of these three

שְׁלֹ֥שֶׁת

 

הָאֲנָשִׁ֗ים

was kindled

וַיִּ֥חַר

then his wrath

אַפּֽוֹ׃

answered

וַיַּ֤עַן׀

And Elihu

אֱלִיה֖וּא

the son

בֶן

of Barachel

בַּֽרַכְאֵ֥ל

the Buzite

הַבּוּזִ֗י

and said

וַיֹּ֫אמַ֥ר

I am young

צָ֘עִ֤יר

 

אֲנִ֣י

 

לְ֭יָמִים

 

וְאַתֶּ֣ם

and ye are very old

יְשִׁישִׁ֑ים

 

עַל

 

כֵּ֖ן

wherefore I was afraid

זָחַ֥לְתִּי

and durst

וָֽאִירָ֓א׀

not shew

מֵחַוֺּ֖ת

you mine opinion

דֵּעִ֣י

 

אֶתְכֶֽם׃

I said

אָ֭מַרְתִּי

Days

יָמִ֣ים

should speak

יְדַבֵּ֑רוּ

and multitude

וְרֹ֥ב

of years

שָׁ֝נִ֗ים

should teach

יֹדִ֥יעוּ

wisdom

חָכְמָֽה׃

But

אָ֭כֵן

there is a spirit

רֽוּחַ

 

הִ֣יא

in man

בֶאֱנ֑וֹשׁ

and the inspiration

וְנִשְׁמַ֖ת

of the Almighty

שַׁדַּ֣י

giveth them understanding

תְּבִינֵֽם׃

 

לֹֽא

Great men

רַבִּ֥ים

are not always wise

יֶחְכָּ֑מוּ

neither do the aged

וּ֝זְקֵנִ֗ים

understand

יָבִ֥ינוּ

judgment

מִשְׁפָּֽט׃

 

לָכֵ֣ן

Therefore I said

אָ֭מַרְתִּי

Hearken

שִׁמְעָה

 

לִּ֑י

to me I also will shew

אֲחַוֶּ֖ה

mine opinion

דֵּעִ֣י

 

אַף

 

אָֽנִי׃

 

הֵ֤ן

Behold I waited

הוֹחַ֨לְתִּי׀

for your words

לְֽדִבְרֵיכֶ֗ם

I gave ear

אָ֭זִין

 

עַד

to your reasons

תְּב֥וּנֹֽתֵיכֶ֑ם

 

עַֽד

whilst ye searched out

תַּחְקְר֥וּן

what to say

מִלִּֽין׃

 

וְעָֽדֵיכֶ֗ם

Yea I attended

אֶתְבּ֫וֹנָ֥ן

 

וְהִנֵּ֤ה

 

אֵ֣ין

Job

לְאִיּ֣וֹב

unto you and behold there was none of you that convinced

מוֹכִ֑יחַ

or that answered

עוֹנֶ֖ה

his words

אֲמָרָ֣יו

 

מִכֶּֽם׃

 

פֶּן

Lest ye should say

תֹּ֣֭אמְרוּ

We have found out

מָצָ֣אנוּ

wisdom

חָכְמָ֑ה

God

אֵ֖ל

thrusteth him down

יִדְּפֶ֣נּוּ

 

לֹא

not man

אִֽישׁ׃

 

וְלֹא

Now he hath not directed

עָרַ֣ךְ

 

אֵלַ֣י

his words

מִלִּ֑ין

him with your speeches

וּ֝בְאִמְרֵיכֶ֗ם

 

לֹ֣א

against me neither will I answer

אֲשִׁיבֶֽנּוּ׃

They were amazed

חַ֭תּוּ

 

לֹא

they answered

עָ֣נוּ

 

ע֑וֹד

no more they left off

הֶעְתִּ֖יקוּ

 

מֵהֶ֣ם

speaking

מִלִּֽים׃

When I had waited

וְ֭הוֹחַלְתִּי

 

כִּי

 

לֹ֣א

for they spake

יְדַבֵּ֑רוּ

 

כִּ֥י

not but stood still

עָ֝מְד֗וּ

 

לֹא

and answered

עָ֥נוּ

 

עֽוֹד׃

I said I will answer

אַעֲנֶ֣ה

 

אַף

 

אֲנִ֣י

also my part

חֶלְקִ֑י

I also will shew

אֲחַוֶּ֖ה

mine opinion

דֵעִ֣י

 

אַף

 

אָֽנִי׃

 

כִּ֭י

For I am full

מָלֵ֣תִי

of matter

מִלִּ֑ים

me constraineth

הֱ֝צִיקַ֗תְנִי

the spirit

ר֣וּחַ

within

בִּטְנִֽי׃

 

הִנֵּֽה

Behold my belly

בִטְנִ֗י

is as wine

כְּיַ֥יִן

 

לֹא

which hath no vent

יִפָּתֵ֑חַ

bottles

כְּאֹב֥וֹת

like new

חֲ֝דָשִׁ֗ים

it is ready to burst

יִבָּקֵֽעַ׃

I will speak

אֲדַבְּרָ֥ה

that I may be refreshed

וְיִֽרְוַֽח

 

לִ֑י

I will open

אֶפְתַּ֖ח

my lips

שְׂפָתַ֣י

and answer

וְאֶֽעֱנֶֽה׃

 

אַל

 

נָ֭א

Let me not I pray you accept

אֶשָּׂ֣א

person

פְנֵי

any man's

אִ֑ישׁ

 

וְאֶל

unto man

אָ֝דָ֗ם

 

לֹ֣א

neither let me give flattering titles

אֲכַנֶּֽה׃

 

כִּ֤י

 

לֹ֣א

For I know

יָדַ֣עְתִּי

not to give flattering titles

אֲכַנֶּ֑ה

would soon

כִּ֝מְעַ֗ט

take me away

יִשָּׂאֵ֥נִי

in so doing my maker

עֹשֵֽׂנִי׃
