of a whip
שׁ֔וֹט
The noise
וְק֖וֹל
of the rattling
רַ֣עַשׁ
of the wheels
אוֹפָ֑ן
horses
וְס֣וּס
and of the pransing
דֹּהֵ֔ר
chariots
וּמֶרְכָּבָ֖ה
and of the jumping
מְרַקֵּדָֽה׃

The horseman
פָּרָ֣שׁ
lifteth up
מַעֲלֶ֗ה
both the bright
וְלַ֤הַב
sword
חֶ֙רֶב֙
and the glittering
וּבְרַ֣ק
spear
חֲנִ֔ית
and there is a multitude
וְרֹ֥ב
of slain
חָלָ֖ל
and a great
וְכֹ֣בֶד
number of carcases
פָּ֑גֶר
 
וְאֵ֥ין
and there is none end
קֵ֙צֶה֙
of their corpses
בִּגְוִיָּתָֽם׃
they stumble
יְכָשְׁל֖וּ
of their corpses
בִּגְוִיָּתָֽם׃

Because of the multitude
מֵרֹב֙
of the whoredoms
בִּזְנוּנֶ֔יהָ
harlot
זוֹנָ֔ה
of the wellfavoured
ט֥וֹבַת
 
חֵ֖ן
the mistress
בַּעֲלַ֣ת
of witchcrafts
בִּכְשָׁפֶֽיהָ׃
that selleth
הַמֹּכֶ֤רֶת
nations
גּוֹיִם֙
of the whoredoms
בִּזְנוּנֶ֔יהָ
and families
וּמִשְׁפָּח֖וֹת
of witchcrafts
בִּכְשָׁפֶֽיהָ׃

הִנְנִ֣י
 
אֵלַ֗יִךְ
Behold I am against thee saith
נְאֻם֙
the LORD
יְהוָ֣ה
of hosts
צְבָא֔וֹת
and I will discover
וְגִלֵּיתִ֥י
thy skirts
שׁוּלַ֖יִךְ
 
עַל
upon thy face
פָּנָ֑יִךְ
and I will shew
וְהַרְאֵיתִ֤י
the nations
גוֹיִם֙
thy nakedness
מַעְרֵ֔ךְ
and the kingdoms
וּמַמְלָכ֖וֹת
thy shame
קְלוֹנֵֽךְ׃

And I will cast
וְהִשְׁלַכְתִּ֥י
 
עָלַ֛יִךְ
abominable filth
שִׁקֻּצִ֖ים
upon thee and make thee vile
וְנִבַּלְתִּ֑יךְ
and will set
וְשַׂמְתִּ֖יךְ
thee as a gazingstock
כְּרֹֽאִי׃

וְהָיָ֤ה
 
כָל
And it shall come to pass that all they that look
רֹאַ֙יִךְ֙
upon thee shall flee
יִדּ֣וֹד
 
מִמֵּ֔ךְ
from thee and say
וְאָמַר֙
is laid waste
שָׁדְּדָ֣ה
Nineveh
נִֽינְוֵ֔ה
 
מִ֖י
who will bemoan
יָנ֣וּד
 
לָ֑הּ
her whence
מֵאַ֛יִן
shall I seek
אֲבַקֵּ֥שׁ
comforters
מְנַחֲמִ֖ים
 
לָֽךְ׃

הֲתֵֽיטְבִי֙

מִנֹּ֣א
than populous
אָמ֔וֹן
that was situate
הַיֹּֽשְׁבָה֙
among the rivers
בַּיְאֹרִ֔ים
that had the waters
מַ֖יִם
round about
סָבִ֣יב
 
לָ֑הּ
 
אֲשֶׁר
it whose rampart
חֵ֣יל
was from the sea
מִיָּ֖ם
was from the sea
מִיָּ֖ם
and her wall
חוֹמָתָֽהּ׃

were her strength
עָצְמָ֛ה
and Egypt
וּמִצְרַ֖יִם
and it was infinite
וְאֵ֣ין
 
קֵ֑צֶה
Put
פּ֣וּט
and Lubim
וְלוּבִ֔ים
 
הָי֖וּ
were thy helpers
בְּעֶזְרָתֵֽךְ׃

גַּם
 
הִ֗יא
Yet was she carried away
לַגֹּלָה֙
she went
הָלְכָ֣ה
into captivity
בַשֶּׁ֔בִי
 
גַּ֧ם
her young children
עֹלָלֶ֛יהָ
also were dashed in pieces
יְרֻטְּשׁ֖וּ
at the top
בְּרֹ֣אשׁ
 
כָּל
of all the streets
חוּצ֑וֹת
 
וְעַל
for her honourable men
נִכְבַּדֶּ֙יהָ֙
and they cast
יַדּ֣וּ
lots
גוֹרָ֔ל
 
וְכָל
and all her great men
גְּדוֹלֶ֖יהָ
were bound
רֻתְּק֥וּ
in chains
בַזִּקִּֽים׃

אַ֣תְּ
Thou also shalt be drunken
תִּשְׁכְּרִ֔י
 
תְּהִ֖י
thou shalt be hid
נַֽעֲלָמָ֑ה
 
גַּם
 
אַ֛תְּ
thou also shalt seek
תְּבַקְשִׁ֥י
strength
מָע֖וֹז
because of the enemy
מֵאוֹיֵֽב׃

כָּ֨ל
All thy strong holds
מִבְצָרַ֔יִךְ
shall be like fig trees
תְּאֵנִ֖ים
 
עִם
with the firstripe figs
בִּכּוּרִ֑ים
 
אִם
if they be shaken
יִנּ֕וֹעוּ
they shall even fall
וְנָפְל֖וּ
 
עַל
into the mouth
פִּ֥י
of the eater
אוֹכֵֽל׃

הִנֵּ֨ה
Behold thy people
עַמֵּ֤ךְ
of thee are women
נָשִׁים֙
in the midst
בְּקִרְבֵּ֔ךְ
unto thine enemies
לְאֹ֣יְבַ֔יִךְ
open
נִפְתְּח֖וּ
open
נִפְתְּח֖וּ
the gates
שַׁעֲרֵ֣י
of thy land
אַרְצֵ֑ךְ
shall devour
אָכְלָ֥ה
the fire
אֵ֖שׁ
thy bars
בְּרִיחָֽיִך׃

thee waters
מֵ֤י
for the siege
מָצוֹר֙
Draw
שַֽׁאֲבִי
 
לָ֔ךְ
fortify
הַחֲזִ֥יקִי
thy strong holds
מִבְצָרָ֑יִךְ
go
בֹּ֧אִי
into clay
בַטִּ֛יט
and tread
וְרִמְסִ֥י
the morter
בַחֹ֖מֶר
fortify
הַחֲזִ֥יקִי
the brickkiln
מַלְבֵּֽן׃

שָׁ֚ם
devour
תֹּאכְלֵ֖ךְ
There shall the fire
אֵ֔שׁ
shall cut thee off
תַּכְרִיתֵ֣ךְ
thee the sword
חֶ֔רֶב
devour
תֹּאכְלֵ֖ךְ
as the cankerworm
כַּיֶּ֔לֶק
make thyself many
הִֽתְכַּבְּדִ֖י
as the cankerworm
כַּיֶּ֔לֶק

הִֽתְכַּבְּדִ֖י
as the locusts
כָּאַרְבֶּֽה׃

Thou hast multiplied
הִרְבֵּית֙
thy merchants
רֹֽכְלַ֔יִךְ
above the stars
מִכּוֹכְבֵ֖י
of heaven
הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם
the cankerworm
יֶ֥לֶק
spoileth
פָּשַׁ֖ט
and flieth away
וַיָּעֹֽף׃

Thy crowned
מִנְּזָרַ֙יִךְ֙
are as the locusts
כָּֽאַרְבֶּ֔ה
and thy captains
וְטַפְסְרַ֖יִךְ
as the great grasshoppers
גֹּבָ֑י
as the great grasshoppers
גֹּבָ֑י
which camp
הַֽחוֹנִ֤ים
in the hedges
בַּגְּדֵרוֹת֙
day
בְּי֣וֹם
in the cold
קָרָ֔ה
but when the sun
שֶׁ֤מֶשׁ
ariseth
זָֽרְחָה֙
they flee away
וְנוֹדַ֔ד
 
וְלֹֽא
is not known
נוֹדַ֥ע
and their place
מְקוֹמ֖וֹ
where
אַיָּֽם׃

slumber
נָמ֤וּ
Thy shepherds
רֹעֶ֙יךָ֙
O king
מֶ֣לֶךְ
of Assyria
אַשּׁ֔וּר
shall dwell
יִשְׁכְּנ֖וּ
thy nobles
אַדִּירֶ֑יךָ
is scattered
נָפֹ֧שׁוּ
in the dust thy people
עַמְּךָ֛
 
עַל
upon the mountains
הֶהָרִ֖ים
 
וְאֵ֥ין
and no man gathereth
מְקַבֵּֽץ׃

אֵין
There is no healing
כֵּהָ֣ה
of thy bruise
לְשִׁבְרֶ֔ךָ
is grievous
נַחְלָ֖ה
thy wound
מַכָּתֶ֑ךָ
 
כֹּ֣ל׀
all that hear
שֹׁמְעֵ֣י
the bruit
שִׁמְעֲךָ֗
of thee shall clap
תָּ֤קְעוּ
the hands
כַף֙
 
עָלֶ֔יךָ
 
כִּ֗י
 
עַל
 
מִ֛י
 
לֹֽא
passed
עָבְרָ֥ה
over thee for upon whom hath not thy wickedness
רָעָתְךָ֖
