The LORD

יְהוָ֛ה

is my rock

and my fortress

וּמְצֻֽדָתִ֖י

and my deliverer

וּמְפַלְטִי

 

לִֽי׃

The God

אֱלֹהֵ֥י

of my rock

צוּרִ֖י

in him will I trust

אֶֽחֱסֶה

 

בּ֑וֹ

he is my shield

מָֽגִנִּ֞י

and the horn

וְקֶ֣רֶן

of my salvation

יִשְׁעִ֗י

my high tower

מִשְׂגַּבִּי֙

and my refuge

וּמְנוּסִ֔י

my saviour

תֹּֽשִׁעֵֽנִי׃

me from violence

מֵֽחָמָ֖ס

my saviour

תֹּֽשִׁעֵֽנִי׃

who is worthy to be praised

מְהֻלָּ֖ל

I will call

אֶקְרָ֣א

on the LORD

יְהוָ֑ה

from mine enemies

וּמֵאֹֽיְבַ֖י

so shall I be saved

אִוָּשֵֽׁעַ׃

 

כִּ֥י

compassed

אֲפָפֻ֖נִי

When the waves

מִשְׁבְּרֵי

of death

מָ֑וֶת

me the floods

נַֽחֲלֵ֥י

of ungodly men

בְלִיַּ֖עַל

made me afraid

יְבַֽעֲתֻֽנִי׃

The sorrows

חֶבְלֵ֥י

of hell

שְׁא֖וֹל

compassed me about

סַבֻּ֑נִי

prevented

קִדְּמֻ֖נִי

the snares

מֹֽקְשֵׁי

of death

מָֽוֶת׃

In my distress

בַּצַּר

 

לִי֙

I called

אֶקְרָ֑א

upon the LORD

יְהוָ֔ה

 

וְאֶל

to my God

אֱלֹהַ֖י

I called

אֶקְרָ֑א

and he did hear

וַיִּשְׁמַ֤ע

out of his temple

מֵהֵֽיכָלוֹ֙

my voice

קוֹלִ֔י

and my cry

וְשַׁוְעָתִ֖י

did enter into his ears

בְּאָזְנָֽיו׃

and shook

וַיִּֽתְגָּעֲשׁ֖וּ

and trembled

וַתִּרְעַשׁ֙

Then the earth

הָאָ֔רֶץ

the foundations

מֽוֹסְד֥וֹת

of heaven

הַשָּׁמַ֖יִם

moved

יִרְגָּ֑זוּ

and shook

וַיִּֽתְגָּעֲשׁ֖וּ

 

כִּי

because he was wroth

חָ֥רָה

 

לֽוֹ׃

There went up

עָלָ֤ה

a smoke

עָשָׁן֙

out of his nostrils

בְּאַפּ֔וֹ

and fire

וְאֵ֥שׁ

out of his mouth

מִפִּ֖יו

devoured

תֹּאכֵ֑ל

coals

גֶּֽחָלִ֖ים

were kindled

בָּֽעֲר֥וּ

 

מִמֶּֽנּוּ׃

He bowed

וַיֵּ֥ט

the heavens

שָׁמַ֖יִם

also and came down

וַיֵּרַ֑ד

and darkness

וַֽעֲרָפֶ֖ל

 

תַּ֥חַת

was under his feet

רַגְלָֽיו׃

And he rode

וַיִּרְכַּ֥ב

 

עַל

upon a cherub

כְּר֖וּב

and did fly

וַיָּעֹ֑ף

and he was seen

וַיֵּרָ֖א

 

עַל

upon the wings

כַּנְפֵי

of the wind

רֽוּחַ׃

And he made

וַיָּ֥שֶׁת

darkness

חֹ֛שֶׁךְ

round about

סְבִֽיבֹתָ֖יו

pavilions

סֻכּ֑וֹת

him dark

חַֽשְׁרַת

waters

מַ֖יִם

and thick clouds

עָבֵ֥י

of the skies

שְׁחָקִֽים׃

Through the brightness

מִנֹּ֖גַהּ

 

נֶגְדּ֑וֹ

kindled

בָּֽעֲר֖וּ

before him were coals

גַּֽחֲלֵי

of fire

אֵֽשׁ׃

thundered

יַרְעֵ֥ם

 

מִן

from heaven

שָׁמַ֖יִם

The LORD

יְהוָ֑ה

and the most High

וְעֶלְי֖וֹן

uttered

יִתֵּ֥ן

his voice

קוֹלֽוֹ׃

And he sent out

וַיִּשְׁלַ֥ח

arrows

חִצִּ֖ים

and scattered

וַיְפִיצֵ֑ם

them lightning

בָּרָ֖ק

and discomfited

וַיָּהֹֽמם

appeared

וַיֵּֽרָאוּ֙

And the channels

אֲפִ֣קֵי

of the sea

יָ֔ם

were discovered

יִגָּל֖וּ

the foundations

מֹֽסְד֣וֹת

of the world

תֵּבֵ֑ל

at the rebuking

בְּגַֽעֲרַ֣ת

of the LORD

יְהוָ֔ה

at the blast

מִנִּשְׁמַ֖ת

of the breath

ר֥וּחַ

of his nostrils

אַפּֽוֹ׃

He sent

יִשְׁלַ֥ח

from above

מִמָּר֖וֹם

he took

יִקָּחֵ֑נִי

me he drew

יַֽמְשֵׁ֖נִי

waters

מִמַּ֥יִם

me out of many

רַבִּֽים׃

He delivered

יַצִּילֵ֕נִי

enemy

מֵאֹֽיְבִ֖י

me from my strong

עָ֑ז

and from them that hated

מִשֹּׂ֣נְאַ֔י

 

כִּ֥י

me for they were too strong

אָֽמְצ֖וּ

 

מִמֶּֽנִּי׃

They prevented

יְקַדְּמֻ֖נִי

me in the day

בְּי֣וֹם

of my calamity

אֵידִ֑י

 

וַיְהִ֧י

but the LORD

יְהוָ֛ה

was my stay

מִשְׁעָ֖ן

 

לִֽי׃

He brought me forth

וַיֹּצֵ֥א

also into a large place

לַמֶּרְחָ֖ב

 

אֹתִ֑י

he delivered

יְחַלְּצֵ֖נִי

 

כִּי

me because he delighted

חָ֥פֵֽץ

 

בִּֽי׃

rewarded

יִגְמְלֵ֥נִי

The LORD

יְהוָ֖ה

me according to my righteousness

כְּצִדְקָתִ֑י

according to the cleanness

כְּבֹ֥ר

of my hands

יָדַ֖י

hath he recompensed

יָשִׁ֥יב

 

לִֽי׃

 

כִּ֥י

For I have kept

שָׁמַ֖רְתִּי

the ways

דַּרְכֵ֣י

of the LORD

יְהוָ֑ה

 

וְלֹ֥א

and have not wickedly departed

רָשַׁ֖עְתִּי

from my God

מֵֽאֱלֹהָֽי׃

 

כִּ֥י

 

כָל

For all his judgments

מִשְׁפָּטָ֖ו

 

לְנֶגְדִּ֑י

were before me and as for his statutes

וְחֻקֹּתָ֖יו

 

לֹֽא

I did not depart

אָס֥וּר

 

מִמֶּֽנָּה׃

 

וָאֶֽהְיֶ֥ה

I was also upright

תָמִ֖ים

 

ל֑וֹ

before him and have kept

וָֽאֶשְׁתַּמְּרָ֖ה

myself from mine iniquity

מֵעֲוֹנִֽי׃

hath recompensed

וַיָּ֧שֶׁב

Therefore the LORD

יְהוָ֛ה

 

לִ֖י

me according to my righteousness

כְּצִדְקָתִ֑י

according to my cleanness

כְּבֹרִ֖י

in his eye sight

לְנֶ֥גֶד

 

עֵינָֽיו׃

 

עִם

With the merciful

חָסִ֖יד

thou wilt shew thyself merciful

תִּתְחַסָּ֑ד

 

עִם

man

גִּבּ֥וֹר

and with the upright

תָּמִ֖ים

thou wilt shew thyself upright

תִּתַּמָּֽם׃

 

עִם

With the pure

תִּתָּבָ֑ר

With the pure

תִּתָּבָ֑ר

 

וְעִם

and with the froward

עִקֵּ֖שׁ

thou wilt shew thyself unsavoury

תִּתַּפָּֽל׃

 

וְאֶת

people

עַ֥ם

And the afflicted

עָנִ֖י

thou wilt save

תּוֹשִׁ֑יעַ

but thine eyes

וְעֵינֶ֖יךָ

 

עַל

are upon the haughty

רָמִ֥ים

that thou mayest bring them down

תַּשְׁפִּֽיל׃

 

כִּֽי

 

אַתָּ֥ה

For thou art my lamp

נֵירִ֖י

O LORD

וַֽיהוָ֖ה

O LORD

וַֽיהוָ֖ה

will lighten

יַגִּ֥יהַּ

my darkness

חָשְׁכִּֽי׃

 

כִּ֥י

 

בְכָ֖ה

For by thee I have run

אָר֣וּץ

through a troop

גְּד֑וּד

by my God

בֵּֽאלֹהַ֖י

have I leaped over

אֲדַלֶּג

a wall

שֽׁוּר׃

As for God

הָאֵ֖ל

is perfect

תָּמִ֣ים

his way

דַּרְכּ֑וֹ

the word

אִמְרַ֤ת

of the LORD

יְהוָה֙

is tried

צְרוּפָ֔ה

he is a buckler

מָגֵ֣ן

 

ה֔וּא

 

לְכֹ֖ל

to all them that trust

הַֽחֹסִ֥ים

 

בּֽוֹ׃

 

כִּ֥י

 

מִי

For who is God

אֵ֖ל

save

מִֽבַּלְעֲדֵ֥י

the LORD

יְהוָ֑ה

 

וּמִ֥י

and who is a rock

צ֖וּר

save

מִֽבַּלְעֲדֵ֥י

our God

אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ׃

הָאֵ֥ל

is my strength

מָֽעוּזִּ֖י

and power

חָ֑יִל

and he maketh

וַיַּתֵּ֥ר

perfect

תָּמִ֖ים

my way

דַּרְכִּֽו׃

He maketh

מְשַׁוֶּ֥ה

my feet

רַגְלַ֖יו

hinds

כָּֽאַיָּל֑וֹת

 

וְעַ֥ל

me upon my high places

בָּמֹתַ֖י

feet and setteth

יַֽעֲמִדֵֽנִי׃

He teacheth

מְלַמֵּ֥ד

my hands

יָדַ֖י

to war

לַמִּלְחָמָ֑ה

is broken

וְנִחַ֥ת

so that a bow

קֶֽשֶׁת

of steel

נְחוּשָׁ֖ה

by mine arms

זְרֹֽעֹתָֽי׃

Thou hast also given

וַתִּתֶּן

 

לִ֖י

me the shield

מָגֵ֣ן

of thy salvation

יִשְׁעֶ֑ךָ

and thy gentleness

וַעֲנֹֽתְךָ֖

hath made me great

תַּרְבֵּֽנִי׃

Thou hast enlarged

תַּרְחִ֥יב

my steps

צַֽעֲדִ֖י

 

תַּחְתֵּ֑נִי

 

וְלֹ֥א

did not slip

מָֽעֲד֖וּ

under me so that my feet

קַרְסֻלָּֽי׃

I have pursued

אֶרְדְּפָ֥ה

mine enemies

אֹֽיְבַ֖י

and destroyed

וָֽאַשְׁמִידֵ֑ם

 

וְלֹ֥א

them and turned not again

אָשׁ֖וּב

 

עַד

until I had consumed

כַּלּוֹתָֽם׃

And I have consumed

וָֽאֲכַלֵּ֥ם

them and wounded

וָֽאֶמְחָצֵ֖ם

 

וְלֹ֣א

them that they could not arise

יְקוּמ֑וּן

yea they are fallen

וַֽיִּפְּל֖וּ

 

תַּ֥חַת

under my feet

רַגְלָֽי׃

For thou hast girded

וַתַּזְרֵ֥נִי

me with strength

חַ֖יִל

to battle

לַמִּלְחָמָ֑ה

against me hast thou subdued

תַּכְרִ֥יעַ

them that rose up

קָמַ֖י

 

תַּחְתֵּֽנִי׃

of mine enemies

וְאֹ֣יְבַ֔י

Thou hast also given

תַּ֥תָּה

 

לִּ֖י

me the necks

עֹ֑רֶף

them that hate

מְשַׂנְאַ֖י

that I might destroy

וָֽאַצְמִיתֵֽם׃

They looked

יִשְׁע֖וּ

 

וְאֵ֣ין

but there was none to save

מֹשִׁ֑יעַ

 

אֶל

even unto the LORD

יְהוָ֖ה

 

וְלֹ֥א

but he answered

עָנָֽם׃

Then did I beat

וְאֶשְׁחָקֵ֖ם

them as small as the dust

כַּֽעֲפַר

of the earth

אָ֑רֶץ

them as the mire

כְּטִיט

of the street

חוּצ֥וֹת

I did stamp

אֲדִקֵּ֖ם

and did spread them abroad

אֶרְקָעֵֽם׃

Thou also hast delivered

וַֽתְּפַלְּטֵ֔נִי

me from the strivings

מֵֽרִיבֵ֖י

a people

עַ֥ם

thou hast kept

תִּשְׁמְרֵ֙נִי֙

me to be head

לְרֹ֣אשׁ

of the heathen

גּוֹיִ֔ם

a people

עַ֥ם

 

לֹֽא

which I knew

יָדַ֖עְתִּי

not shall serve

יַֽעַבְדֻֽנִי׃

Strangers

בְּנֵ֥י

 

נֵכָ֖ר

shall submit

יִתְכַּֽחֲשׁוּ

 

לִ֑י

themselves unto me as soon as they hear

יִשָּׁ֥מְעוּ

 

אֹ֖זֶן

themselves unto me as soon as they hear

יִשָּׁ֥מְעוּ

 

לִֽי׃

Strangers

בְּנֵ֥י

 

נֵכָ֖ר

shall fade away

יִבֹּ֑לוּ

and they shall be afraid

וְיַחְגְּר֖וּ

out of their close places

מִמִּסְגְּרוֹתָֽם׃

liveth

חַי

The LORD

יְהוָ֖ה

and blessed

וּבָר֣וּךְ

be my rock

צ֥וּר

and exalted

וְיָרֻ֕ם

be the God

אֱלֹהֵ֖י

be my rock

צ֥וּר

of my salvation

יִשְׁעִֽי׃

It is God

הָאֵ֕ל

that avengeth

הַנֹּתֵ֥ן

 

נְקָמֹ֖ת

 

לִ֑י

me and that bringeth down

וּמֹרִ֥יד

the people

עַמִּ֖ים

 

תַּחְתֵּֽנִי׃

And that bringeth me forth

וּמֽוֹצִיאִ֖י

from mine enemies

מֵאֹֽיְבָ֑י

above them that rose up

וּמִקָּמַי֙

thou also hast lifted me up on high

תְּר֣וֹמְמֵ֔נִי

man

מֵאִ֥ישׁ

me from the violent

חֲמָסִ֖ים

against me thou hast delivered

תַּצִּילֵֽנִי׃

 

עַל

 

כֵּ֛ן

Therefore I will give thanks

אֽוֹדְךָ֥

unto thee O LORD

יְהוָ֖ה

among the heathen

בַּגּוֹיִ֑ם

unto thy name

וּלְשִׁמְךָ֖

and I will sing praises

אֲזַמֵּֽר׃

He is the tower

מִגְדֹּ֖יל

of salvation

יְשׁוּע֣וֹת

for his king

מַלְכּ֑וֹ

and sheweth

וְעֹֽשֶׂה

mercy

חֶ֧סֶד

to his anointed

לִמְשִׁיח֛וֹ

unto David

לְדָוִ֥ד

and to his seed

וּלְזַרְע֖וֹ

for

עַד

evermore

עוֹלָֽם׃
