Wherefore doth the way

רְשָׁעִים֙

prosper

צָלֵ֔חָה

wherefore are all they happy

that deal very

בֹּ֥גְדֵי

treacherously

בָֽגֶד׃

Thou hast planted

נְטַעְתָּם֙

 

גַּם

them yea they have taken root

שֹׁרָ֔שׁוּ

 

יֵלְכ֖וּ

 

גַּם

yea they bring forth

עָ֣שׂוּ

fruit

פֶ֑רִי

thou art near

קָר֤וֹב

 

אַתָּה֙

in their mouth

בְּפִיהֶ֔ם

and far from

וְרָח֖וֹק

their reins

מִכִּלְיוֹתֵיהֶֽם׃

 

וְאַתָּ֤ה

But thou O LORD

יְהוָה֙

knowest

יְדַעְתָּ֔נִי

me thou hast seen

תִּרְאֵ֕נִי

me and tried

וּבָחַנְתָּ֥

mine heart

לִבִּ֖י

 

אִתָּ֑ךְ

toward thee pull them out

הַתִּקֵם֙

like sheep

כְּצֹ֣אן

for the slaughter

לְטִבְחָ֔ה

and prepare

וְהַקְדִּשֵׁ֖ם

them for the day

לְי֥וֹם

of slaughter

הֲרֵגָֽה׃

 

עַד

 

מָתַי֙

mourn

תֶּאֱבַ֣ל

How long shall the land

הָאָ֔רֶץ

and the herbs

וְעֵ֥שֶׂב

 

כָּל

of every field

הַשָּׂדֶ֖ה

wither

יִיבָ֑שׁ

for the wickedness

מֵרָעַ֣ת

of them that dwell

יֹֽשְׁבֵי

 

בָ֗הּ

are consumed

סָפְתָ֤ה

therein the beasts

בְהֵמוֹת֙

and the birds

וָע֔וֹף

 

כִּ֣י

because they said

אָמְר֔וּ

 

לֹ֥א

He shall not see

יִרְאֶ֖ה

 

אֶת

our last end

אַחֲרִיתֵֽנוּ׃

 

כִּ֣י

 

אֶת

with the footmen

רַגְלִ֥ים׀

If thou hast run

רַ֙צְתָּה֙

and they have wearied

וַיַּלְא֔וּךָ

 

וְאֵ֥יךְ

thee then how canst thou contend

תְּתַֽחֲרֶ֖ה

 

אֶת

with horses

הַסּוּסִ֑ים

and if in the land

וּבְאֶ֤רֶץ

of peace

שָׁלוֹם֙

 

אַתָּ֣ה

wherein thou trustedst

בוֹטֵ֔חַ

 

וְאֵ֥יךְ

they wearied thee then how wilt thou do

תַּעֲשֶׂ֖ה

in the swelling

בִּגְא֥וֹן

of Jordan

הַיַּרְדֵּֽן׃

 

כִּ֧י

 

גַם

For even thy brethren

אַחֶ֣יךָ

and the house

וּבֵית

of thy father

אָבִ֗יךָ

 

גַּם

 

הֵ֙מָּה֙

even they have dealt treacherously

בָּ֣גְדוּ

 

בָ֔ךְ

 

גַּם

 

הֵ֛מָּה

with thee yea they have called

קָרְא֥וּ

after

אַחֲרֶ֖יךָ

a multitude

מָלֵ֑א

 

אַל

thee believe

תַּאֲמֵ֣ן

 

בָּ֔ם

 

כִּֽי

them not though they speak

יְדַבְּר֥וּ

 

אֵלֶ֖יךָ

fair words

טוֹבֽוֹת׃

I have forsaken

עָזַ֙בְתִּי֙

 

אֶת

mine house

בֵּיתִ֔י

I have left

נָטַ֖שְׁתִּי

 

אֶת

mine heritage

נַחֲלָתִ֑י

I have given

נָתַ֛תִּי

 

אֶת

the dearly beloved

יְדִד֥וּת

of my soul

נַפְשִׁ֖י

into the hand

בְּכַ֥ף

of her enemies

אֹיְבֶֽיהָ׃

Mine heritage

נַחֲלָתִ֖י

is unto me as a lion

כְּאַרְיֵ֣ה

בַיָּ֑עַר

it crieth out

against me therefore have I hated

my pleasant

לְמִדְבַּ֥ר

לַֽיהוָה֙

shall devour

אֹֽכְלָ֔ה

קְצֵ֣ה

of the land

הָאָ֑רֶץ

 

וְעַד

קְצֵ֣ה

of the land

הָאָ֑רֶץ

 

אֵ֥ין

shall have peace

שָׁל֖וֹם

 

לְכָל

no flesh

בָּשָֽׂר׃

They have sown

זָרְע֤וּ

wheat

חִטִּים֙

thorns

וְקֹצִ֣ים

but shall reap

קָצָ֔רוּ

they have put themselves to pain

נֶחְל֖וּ

 

לֹ֣א

but shall not profit

יוֹעִ֑לוּ

and they shall be ashamed

וּבֹ֙שׁוּ֙

of your revenues

מִתְּבוּאֹ֣תֵיכֶ֔ם

because of the fierce

מֵחֲר֖וֹן

anger

אַף

of the LORD

יְהוָֽה׃

Thus saith

אָמַ֣ר

the LORD

יְהוָ֗ה

כָּל

neighbours

שְׁכֵנַי֙

against all mine evil

הָֽרָעִ֔ים

that touch

הַנֹּֽגְעִים֙

the inheritance

בַּֽנַּחֲלָ֔ה

 

אֲשֶׁר

to inherit

הִנְחַ֥לְתִּי

 

אֶת

which I have caused my people

עַמִּ֖י

 

אֶת

Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל

 

הִנְנִ֤י

Behold I will pluck them out

אֶתּ֥וֹשׁ

 

מֵעַ֣ל

of their land

אַדְמָתָ֔ם

 

וְאֶת

the house

בֵּ֥ית

of Judah

יְהוּדָ֖ה

Behold I will pluck them out

אֶתּ֥וֹשׁ

from among

מִתּוֹכָֽם׃

 

וְהָיָ֗ה

And it shall come to pass after

אַֽחֲרֵי֙

that I have plucked them out

נָתְשִׁ֣י

 

אוֹתָ֔ם

I will return

וַהֲשִׁבֹתִ֛ים

and have compassion

וְרִֽחַמְתִּ֑ים

I will return

וַהֲשִׁבֹתִ֛ים

and every man

וְאִ֥ישׁ

to his heritage

לְנַחֲלָת֖וֹ

and every man

וְאִ֥ישׁ

to his land

לְאַרְצֽוֹ׃

 

וְהָיָ֡ה

 

אִם

And it shall come to pass if they will diligently

לִמְּדוּ֙

And it shall come to pass if they will diligently

the ways

דַּֽרְכֵ֨י

my people

עַמִּֽי׃

to swear

לְהִשָּׁבֵ֖עַ

by my name

בִּשְׁמִי֙

liveth

חַי

The LORD

יְהוָ֔ה

 

כַּאֲשֶׁ֤ר

And it shall come to pass if they will diligently

לִמְּדוּ֙

 

אֶת

my people

עַמִּֽי׃

to swear

לְהִשָּׁבֵ֖עַ

by Baal

בַּבָּ֑עַל

then shall they be built

וְנִבְנ֖וּ

in the midst

בְּת֥וֹךְ

my people

עַמִּֽי׃

 

וְאִ֖ם

 

לֹ֣א

But if they will not obey

יִשְׁמָ֑עוּ

I will utterly

נָת֥וֹשׁ

 

אֶת

that nation

הַגּ֥וֹי

 

הַה֛וּא

I will utterly

נָת֥וֹשׁ

and destroy

וְאַבֵּ֖ד

saith

נְאֻם

the LORD

יְהוָֽה׃
