יְעַוֵּֽת

judgment

מִשְׁפָּ֑ט

 

וְאִם

or doth the Almighty

שַׁ֝דַּ֗י

pervert

יְעַוֵּֽת

justice

צֶֽדֶק׃

 

אִם

If thy children

בָּנֶ֥יךָ

have sinned

חָֽטְאוּ

 

ל֑וֹ

against him and he have cast them away

וַֽ֝יְשַׁלְּחֵ֗ם

for

בְּיַד

their transgression

פִּשְׁעָֽם׃

 

אִם

 

אַ֭תָּה

If thou wouldest seek

תְּשַׁחֵ֣ר

 

אֶל

unto God

אֵ֑ל

 

וְאֶל

to the Almighty

שַׁ֝דַּ֗י

and make thy supplication

תִּתְחַנָּֽן׃

 

אִם

If thou wert pure

זַ֥ךְ

and upright

וְיָשָׁ֗ר

 

אָ֥תָּה

 

כִּֽי

 

עַ֭תָּה

surely now he would awake

יָעִ֣יר

 

עָלֶ֑יךָ

prosperous

וְ֝שִׁלַּ֗ם

for thee and make the habitation

נְוַ֣ת

of thy righteousness

צִדְקֶֽךָ׃

 

וְהָיָ֣ה

Though thy beginning

רֵאשִׁיתְךָ֣

was small

מִצְעָ֑ר

yet thy latter end

וְ֝אַחֲרִֽיתְךָ֗

increase

יִשְׂגֶּ֥ה

should greatly

מְאֹֽד׃

 

כִּֽי

For enquire

שְׁאַל

 

נָ֭א

age

לְדֹ֣ר

I pray thee of the former

רִישׁ֑וֹן

and prepare

וְ֝כוֹנֵ֗ן

thyself to the search

לְחֵ֣קֶר

of their fathers

אֲבוֹתָֽם׃

 

כִּֽי

For we are but of yesterday

תְמ֣וֹל

 

אֲ֭נַחְנוּ

 

וְלֹ֣א

and know

נֵדָ֑ע

 

כִּ֤י

are a shadow

צֵ֖ל

nothing because our days

יָמֵ֣ינוּ

 

עֲלֵי

upon earth

אָֽרֶץ׃

 

הֲלֹא

 

הֵ֣ם

Shall not they teach

י֭וֹרוּךָ

thee and tell

יֹ֣אמְרוּ

 

לָ֑ךְ

out of their heart

וּ֝מִלִּבָּ֗ם

thee and utter

יוֹצִ֥אוּ

words

מִלִּֽים׃

grow up

הֲיִֽגְאֶה

Can the rush

גֹּ֭מֶא

 

בְּלֹ֣א

without mire

בִצָּ֑ה

can

יִשְׂגֶּה

the flag

אָ֥חוּ

without

בְלִי

water

מָֽיִם׃

 

עֹדֶ֣נּוּ

Whilst it is yet in his greenness

בְ֭אִבּוֹ

 

לֹ֣א

and not cut down

יִקָּטֵ֑ף

before

וְלִפְנֵ֖י

 

כָל

any other herb

חָצִ֣יר

it withereth

יִיבָֽשׁ׃

 

כֵּ֗ן

So are the paths

אָ֭רְחוֹת

 

כָּל

of all that forget

שֹׁ֣כְחֵי

God

אֵ֑ל

hope

וְתִקְוַ֖ת

and the hypocrite's

חָנֵ֣ף

shall perish

תֹּאבֵֽד׃

 

אֲשֶׁר

shall be cut off

יָק֥וֹט

Whose hope

כִּסְל֑וֹ

web

וּבֵ֥ית

shall be a spider's

עַ֝כָּבִ֗ישׁ

and whose trust

מִבְטַחֽוֹ׃

He shall lean

יִשָּׁעֵ֣ן

 

עַל

upon his house

בֵּ֭יתוֹ

 

וְלֹ֣א

but it shall not stand

יַעֲמֹ֑ד

he shall hold

יַחֲזִ֥יק

 

בּ֝֗וֹ

 

וְלֹ֣א

it fast but it shall not endure

יָקֽוּם׃

He is green

רָטֹ֣ב

 

ה֭וּא

before

לִפְנֵי

the sun

שָׁ֑מֶשׁ

 

וְעַ֥ל

in his garden

גַּ֝נָּת֗וֹ

and his branch

יֹֽנַקְתּ֥וֹ

shooteth forth

תֵצֵֽא׃

 

עַל

the heap

גַּ֭ל

His roots

שָֽׁרָשָׁ֣יו

are wrapped about

יְסֻבָּ֑כוּ

the place

בֵּ֖ית

of stones

אֲבָנִ֣ים

and seeth

יֶחֱזֶֽה׃

 

אִם

If he destroy

יְבַלְּעֶ֥נּוּ

him from his place

מִמְּקֹמ֑וֹ

then it shall deny

וְכִ֥חֶשׁ

 

בּ֝֗וֹ

 

לֹ֣א

him saying I have not seen

רְאִיתִֽיךָ׃

 

הֶן

 

ה֭וּא

Behold this is the joy

מְשׂ֣וֹשׂ

of his way

דַּרְכּ֑וֹ

and out of the earth

וּ֝מֵעָפָ֗ר

shall others

אַחֵ֥ר

grow

יִצְמָֽחוּ׃

 

הֶן

Behold God

אֵ֭ל

 

לֹ֣א

will not cast away

יִמְאַס

a perfect

תָּ֑ם

 

וְלֹֽא

man neither will he help

יַ֝חֲזִ֗יק

 

בְּיַד

the evil doers

מְרֵעִֽים׃

 

עַד

Till he fill

יְמַלֵּ֣ה

with laughing

שְׂח֣וֹק

thy mouth

פִּ֑יךָ

and thy lips

וּשְׂפָתֶ֥יךָ

with rejoicing

תְרוּעָֽה׃

They that hate

שֹׂנְאֶ֥יךָ

thee shall be clothed

יִלְבְּשׁוּ

with shame

בֹ֑שֶׁת

and the dwelling

וְאֹ֖הֶל

place of the wicked

רְשָׁעִ֣ים

shall come to nought

אֵינֶֽנּוּ׃
