even the LORD

יְהוָה֙

and the weapons

וּכְלֵ֣י

of his indignation

to destroy

country

הָאָֽרֶץ׃

Howl

הֵילִ֕ילוּ

 

כִּ֥י

is at hand

קָר֖וֹב

ye for the day

י֣וֹם

of the LORD

יְהוָ֑ה

as a destruction

כְּשֹׁ֖ד

from the Almighty

מִשַּׁדַּ֥י

it shall come

יָבֽוֹא׃

Therefore shall all hands

יָדַ֣יִם

be faint

תִּרְפֶּ֑ינָה

 

וְכָל

heart

לְבַ֥ב

and every man's

אֱנ֖וֹשׁ

shall melt

יִמָּֽס׃

And they shall be afraid

וְֽנִבְהָ֓לוּ׀

pangs

צִירִ֤ים

and sorrows

וַֽחֲבָלִים֙

shall take hold

יֹֽאחֵז֔וּן

as a woman that travaileth

כַּיּוֹלֵדָ֖ה

of them they shall be in pain

יְחִיל֑וּן

אִ֤ישׁ

at another

רֵעֵ֙הוּ֙

they shall be amazed

יִתְמָ֔הוּ

their faces

פְּנֵיהֶֽם׃

shall be as flames

לְהָבִ֖ים

הִנֵּ֤ה

Behold the day

יוֹם

of the LORD

יְהוָה֙

cometh

בָּ֔א

cruel

אַכְזָרִ֥י

both with wrath

וְעֶבְרָ֖ה

and fierce

וַחֲר֣וֹן

anger

אָ֑ף

to lay

לָשׂ֤וּם

the land

הָאָ֙רֶץ֙

desolate

לְשַׁמָּ֔ה

the sinners

וְחַטָּאֶ֖יהָ

and he shall destroy

יַשְׁמִ֥יד

 

מִמֶּֽנָּה׃

 

כִּֽי

For the stars

כוֹכְבֵ֤י

of heaven

הַשָּׁמַ֙יִם֙

and the constellations

וּכְסִ֣ילֵיהֶ֔ם

 

לֹ֥א

thereof shall not give

יָהֵ֖לּוּ

shall not cause her light

אוֹרֽוֹ׃

shall be darkened

חָשַׁ֤ךְ

the sun

הַשֶּׁ֙מֶשׁ֙

in his going forth

בְּצֵאת֔וֹ

and the moon

וְיָרֵ֖חַ

 

לֹֽא

to shine

יַגִּ֥יהַ

shall not cause her light

אוֹרֽוֹ׃

And I will punish

וּפָקַדְתִּ֤י

 

עַל

the world

תֵּבֵל֙

for their evil

רָעָ֔ה

 

וְעַל

and the wicked

רְשָׁעִ֖ים

for their iniquity

עֲוֹנָ֑ם

to cease

וְהִשְׁבַּתִּי֙

and I will cause the arrogancy

גְּא֣וֹן

of the proud

זֵדִ֔ים

the haughtiness

וְגַאֲוַ֥ת

of the terrible

עָרִיצִ֖ים

and will lay low

אַשְׁפִּֽיל׃

more precious

אוֹקִ֥יר

 

אֱנ֖וֹשׁ

than fine gold

מִפָּ֑ז

even a man

וְאָדָ֖ם

than the golden wedge

מִכֶּ֥תֶם

of Ophir

אוֹפִֽיר׃

 

עַל

 

כֵּן֙

the heavens

שָׁמַ֣יִם

Therefore I will shake

אַרְגִּ֔יז

shall remove

וְתִרְעַ֥שׁ

and the earth

הָאָ֖רֶץ

out of her place

מִמְּקוֹמָ֑הּ

in the wrath

בְּעֶבְרַת֙

of the LORD

יְהוָ֣ה

of hosts

צְבָא֔וֹת

and in the day

וּבְי֖וֹם

of his fierce

חֲר֥וֹן

anger

אַפּֽוֹ׃

 

וְהָיָה֙

roe

כִּצְבִ֣י

And it shall be as the chased

מֻדָּ֔ח

and as a sheep

וּכְצֹ֖אן

 

וְאֵ֣ין

that no man taketh up

מְקַבֵּ֑ץ

every one

וְאִ֥ישׁ

 

אֶל

to his own people

עַמּוֹ֙

turn

יִפְנ֔וּ

every one

וְאִ֥ישׁ

 

אֶל

into his own land

אַרְצ֖וֹ

and flee

יָנֽוּסוּ׃

 

כָּל

Every one that is found

הַנִּמְצָ֖א

shall be thrust through

יִדָּקֵ֑ר

and every one that is joined

הַנִּסְפֶּ֖ה

unto them shall fall

יִפּ֥וֹל

by the sword

בֶּחָֽרֶב׃

Their children

וְעֹלְלֵיהֶ֥ם

also shall be dashed to pieces

יְרֻטְּשׁ֖וּ

before their eyes

לְעֵֽינֵיהֶ֑ם

shall be spoiled

יִשַּׁ֙סּוּ֙

their houses

בָּֽתֵּיהֶ֔ם

and their wives

וּנְשֵׁיהֶ֖ם

 

תִּשָּׁגַֽלְנָה׃

 

הִנְנִ֛י

Behold I will stir up

מֵעִ֥יר

 

עֲלֵיהֶ֖ם

the Medes

מָדָ֑י

 

אֲשֶׁר

silver

כֶּ֙סֶף֙

 

לֹ֣א

against them which shall not regard

יַחְשֹׁ֔בוּ

and as for gold

וְזָהָ֖ב

they shall not delight

יַחְפְּצוּ

Their bows

וּקְשָׁת֖וֹת

the young men

נְעָרִ֣ים

also shall dash

תְּרַטַּ֑שְׁנָה

and they shall have no pity

יְרַחֵ֔מוּ

children

And Babylon

בָבֶל֙

the glory

מַמְלָכ֔וֹת

of the Chaldees

כַּשְׂדִּ֑ים

overthrew

כְּמַהְפֵּכַ֣ת

shall be as when God

אֱלֹהִ֔ים

Sodom

and Gomorrah

עֲמֹרָֽה׃

be inhabited

תֵשֵׁ֣ב

It shall never

לָנֶ֔צַח

neither shall it be dwelt

תִשְׁכֹּ֖ן

יַֽעֲנָ֔ה

there and satyrs

וּשְׂעִירִ֖ים

shall dance

יְרַקְּדוּ

 

שָֽׁם׃

shall cry

וְעָנָ֤ה

And the wild beasts of the islands

אִיִּים֙

in their desolate houses

בְּאַלְמנוֹתָ֔יו

and dragons

וְתַנִּ֖ים

palaces

בְּהֵ֣יכְלֵי

in their pleasant

עֹ֑נֶג

is near

וְקָר֤וֹב

to come

לָבוֹא֙

and her time

עִתָּ֔הּ

and her days

וְיָמֶ֖יהָ

 

לֹ֥א

shall not be prolonged

יִמָּשֵֽׁכוּ׃
