Because Syria

have taken evil

רָעָ֑ה

רְמַלְיָ֖הוּ

against thee saying

לֵאמֹֽר׃

Let us go up

נַעֲלֶ֤ה

against Judah

בִֽיהוּדָה֙

and vex

וּנְקִיצֶ֔נָּה

it and let us make a breach

וְנַבְקִעֶ֖נָּה

 

אֵלֵ֑ינוּ

therein for us and set

וְנַמְלִ֥יךְ

a king

מֶ֙לֶךְ֙

in the midst

בְּתוֹכָ֔הּ

 

אֵ֖ת

of it even the son

בֶּן

טָֽבְאַֽל׃

thee a sign

מֵעִ֖ם

of the LORD

יְהוָ֣ה

אֱלֹהֶ֑יךָ

it either in the depth

הַעְמֵ֣ק

Ask

שְׁאָ֔לָה

or in the height

הַגְבֵּ֥הַּ

לְמָֽעְלָה׃

said

But Ahaz

I will not ask

אֶשְׁאַ֥ל

neither will I tempt

אֲנַסֶּ֖ה

Hear

שִׁמְעוּ

Is it a small thing

but will ye weary

that thou abhorrest

her kings

מְלָכֶֽיהָ׃

The LORD

for the fly

לַזְּב֔וּב

 

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

that is in the uttermost part

בִּקְצֵ֖ה

of the rivers

יְאֹרֵ֣י

of Egypt

מִצְרָ֑יִם

and for the bee

וְלַ֨דְּבוֹרָ֔ה

 

אֲשֶׁ֖ר

that is in the land

בְּאֶ֥רֶץ

of Assyria

אַשּֽׁוּר׃

And they shall come

וּבָ֨אוּ

and shall rest

וְנָח֤וּ

 

כֻלָּם֙

valleys

בְּנַחֲלֵ֣י

all of them in the desolate

הַבַּתּ֔וֹת

and in the holes

וּבִנְקִיקֵ֖י

of the rocks

הַסְּלָעִ֑ים

 

וּבְכֹל֙

and upon all bushes

הַנַּ֣עֲצוּצִ֔ים

 

וּבְכֹ֖ל

and upon all thorns

הַנַּהֲלֹלִֽים׃

In the same day

בַּיּ֣וֹם

 

הַה֡וּא

shave

יְגַלַּ֣ח

shall the Lord

אֲדֹנָי֩

with a razor

בְּתַ֨עַר

that is hired

הַשְּׂכִירָ֜ה

namely by them beyond

בְּעֶבְרֵ֤י

the river

נָהָר֙

by the king

בְּמֶ֣לֶךְ

of Assyria

אַשּׁ֔וּר

 

אֶת

the head

הָרֹ֖אשׁ

and the hair

וְשַׂ֣עַר

of the feet

הָרַגְלָ֑יִם

 

וְגַ֥ם

the beard

הַזָּקָ֖ן

and it shall also consume

And it shall come to pass in that day

And it shall come to pass for the abundance

that they shall give

עֲשׂ֥וֹת

חָלָ֖ב

he shall eat

יֹאכֵ֔ל

חֶמְאָ֤ה

silverlings

it shall even be for briers

לַשָּׁמִ֥יר

and thorns

וְלַשַּׁ֖יִת

With arrows

בַּחִצִּ֥ים

and with bows

וּבַקֶּ֖שֶׁת

shall men come

יָ֣בוֹא

 

שָׁ֑מָּה

 

כִּי

shall become briers

שָׁמִ֥יר

and thorns

וָשַׁ֖יִת

 

תִּֽהְיֶ֥ה

 

כָל

thither because all the land

הָאָֽרֶץ׃

 

וְכֹ֣ל

And on all hills

הֶהָרִ֗ים

 

אֲשֶׁ֤ר

with the mattock

בַּמַּעְדֵּר֙

that shall be digged

יֵעָ֣דֵר֔וּן

 

לֹֽא

there shall not come thither

תָב֣וֹא

 

שָׁ֔מָּה

the fear

יִרְאַ֖ת

of briers

שָׁמִ֣יר

and thorns

וָשָׁ֑יִת

 

וְהָיָה֙

but it shall be for the sending forth

לְמִשְׁלַ֣ח

of oxen

שׁ֔וֹר

and for the treading

וּלְמִרְמַ֖ס

of lesser cattle

שֶֽׂה׃
