1
Canst thou draw out
תִּמְשֹׁ֣ךְ
leviathan
לִוְיָתָ֣ן
with an hook
בְּחַכָּ֑ה
with a cord
וּ֝בְחֶ֗בֶל
which thou lettest down
תַּשְׁקִ֥יעַ
or his tongue
לְשֹׁנֽוֹ׃
2
Canst thou put
הֲתָשִׂ֣ים
an hook
אַגְמֹ֣ן
into his nose
בְּאַפּ֑וֹ
through with a thorn
וּ֝בְח֗וֹחַ
or bore
תִּקֹּ֥ב
his jaw
לֶֽחֱיוֹ׃
3
Will he make many
הֲיַרְבֶּ֣ה

אֵ֭לֶיךָ
supplications
תַּחֲנוּנִ֑ים

אִם
unto thee will he speak
יְדַבֵּ֖ר

אֵלֶ֣יךָ
soft
רַכּֽוֹת׃
4
Will he make
הֲיִכְרֹ֣ת
a covenant
בְּרִ֣ית

עִמָּ֑ךְ
with thee wilt thou take
תִּ֝קָּחֶ֗נּוּ
him for a servant
לְעֶ֣בֶד
for ever
עוֹלָֽם׃
5
Wilt thou play
הַֽתְשַׂחֶק

בּ֭וֹ
with him as with a bird
כַּצִּפּ֑וֹר
or wilt thou bind
וְ֝תִקְשְׁרֶ֗נּוּ
him for thy maidens
לְנַעֲרוֹתֶֽיךָ׃
6

יִכְר֣וּ

עָ֭לָיו
Shall the companions
חַבָּרִ֑ים
of him shall they part
יֶ֝חֱצ֗וּהוּ

בֵּ֣ין
him among the merchants
כְּֽנַעֲנִֽים׃
7
Canst thou fill
הַֽתְמַלֵּ֣א
with barbed irons
בְשֻׂכּ֣וֹת
his skin
עוֹר֑וֹ
spears
וּבְצִלְצַ֖ל
with fish
דָּגִ֣ים
or his head
רֹאשֽׁוֹ׃
8
Lay
שִׂים

עָלָ֥יו
thine hand
כַּפֶּ֑ךָ
upon him remember
זְכֹ֥ר
the battle
מִ֝לְחָמָ֗ה

אַל
do no more
תּוֹסַֽף׃
9

הֵן
Behold the hope
תֹּחַלְתּ֥וֹ
of him is in vain
נִכְזָ֑בָה

הֲגַ֖ם

כְּעַפְעַפֵּי
of the morning
שָֽׁחַר׃
19
Out of his mouth
מִ֭פִּיו
burning lamps
לַפִּידִ֣ים
