and bare

יָלָֽדָה׃

appeared

וַיֵּרָ֥א

And the angel

מַלְאַךְ

of the LORD

יְהוָ֖ה

 

אֶל

unto the woman

הָֽאִשָּׁ֑ה

and said

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר

 

אֵלֶ֗יהָ

 

הִנֵּה

 

נָ֤א

 

אַתְּ

unto her Behold now thou art barren

עֲקָרָה֙

 

וְלֹ֣א

and bear

וְיָלַ֥דְתְּ

not but thou shalt conceive

וְהָרִ֖ית

and bear

וְיָלַ֥דְתְּ

a son

בֵּֽן׃

 

וְעַתָּה֙

Now therefore beware

הִשָּׁ֣מְרִי

 

נָ֔א

 

וְאַל

I pray thee and drink

תִּשְׁתִּ֖י

not wine

יַ֣יִן

nor strong drink

וְשֵׁכָ֑ר

 

וְאַל

and eat

תֹּֽאכְלִ֖י

 

כָּל

not any unclean

טָמֵֽא׃

 

כִּי֩

 

הִנָּ֨ךְ

 

הָרָ֜ה

and bear

וְיֹלַ֣דְתְּ

a son

בֵּ֗ן

and no razor

וּמוֹרָה֙

 

לֹֽא

shall come

יַעֲלֶ֣ה

 

עַל

on his head

רֹאשׁ֔וֹ

 

כִּֽי

shall be a Nazarite

נְזִ֧יר

unto God

אֱלֹהִ֛ים

 

יִֽהְיֶ֥ה

for the child

from the womb

הַבָּ֑טֶן

and he shall begin

יָחֵ֛ל

הָֽאֱלֹהִ֞ים

 

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

which thou didst send

שָׁלַ֗חְתָּ

come again

יָבוֹא

let

נָ֥א

 

עוֹד֙

 

אֵלֵ֔ינוּ

unto us and teach

וְיוֹרֵ֕נוּ

 

מַֽה

us what we shall do

נַּעֲשֶׂ֖ה

unto the child

לַנַּ֥עַר

that shall be born

הַיּוּלָּֽד׃

hearkened

וַיִּשְׁמַ֥ע

And God

הָֽאֱלֹהִ֨ים

to the voice

בְּק֣וֹל

but Manoah

וּמָנ֥וֹחַ

came again

וַיָּבֹ֣א

and the angel

מַלְאַךְ֩

And God

הָֽאֱלֹהִ֨ים

 

ע֜וֹד

 

אֶל

unto the woman

הָֽאִשָּׁ֗ה

 

וְהִיא֙

as she sat

יוֹשֶׁ֣בֶת

in the field

בַּשָּׂדֶ֔ה

but Manoah

וּמָנ֥וֹחַ

her husband

אִישָׁ֖הּ

 

אֵ֥ין

 

עִמָּֽהּ׃

made haste

וַתְּמַהֵר֙

her husband

הָאִ֔ישׁ

and ran

וַתָּ֖רָץ

and shewed

וַתַּגֵּ֣ד

And the woman

לְאִישָׁ֑הּ

and said

וַתֹּ֣אמֶר

 

אֵלָ֔יו

 

הִנֵּ֨ה

hath appeared

נִרְאָ֤ה

 

אֵלַי֙

her husband

הָאִ֔ישׁ

 

אֲשֶׁר

unto me that came

בָּ֥א

And Manoah

to the man

And he said

his wife

And Manoah

מָנ֔וֹחַ

Now let thy words

How shall we order

the child

הַנַּ֖עַר

and how shall we do

וּמַֽעֲשֵֽׂהוּ׃

Of all that I said

אָמַ֥רְתִּי

And the angel

מַלְאַ֥ךְ

of the LORD

יְהוָ֖ה

 

אֶל

unto Manoah

מָנ֑וֹחַ

 

מִכֹּ֛ל

 

אֲשֶׁר

Of all that I said

אָמַ֥רְתִּי

 

אֶל

unto the woman

הָֽאִשָּׁ֖ה

let her beware

תִּשָּׁמֵֽר׃

 

מִכֹּ֣ל

 

אֲשֶׁר

of any thing that cometh

יֵצֵא֩

of the vine

מִגֶּ֨פֶן

wine

וְיַ֤יִן

 

לֹ֣א

She may not eat

תֹּאכַ֑ל

I pray thee let us detain

נַעְצְרָה

 

נָּ֣א

 

אוֹתָ֔ךְ

thee until we shall have made ready

וְנַֽעֲשֶׂ֥ה

for

לְפָנֶ֖יךָ

a kid

גְּדִ֥י

 

עִזִּֽים׃

said

וַיֹּאמֶר֩

And the angel

מַלְאַ֥ךְ

it unto the LORD

יְהוָ֖ה

 

אֶל

For Manoah

מָנ֔וֹחַ

and if

וְאִם

Though thou detain

תַּעְצְרֵ֙נִי֙

 

לֹֽא

me I will not eat

אֹכַ֣ל

of thy bread

בְּלַחְמֶ֔ךָ

and if

וְאִם

thou wilt offer

תַּֽעֲשֶׂ֣ה

a burnt offering

עֹלָ֔ה

it unto the LORD

יְהוָ֖ה

thou must offer

תַּֽעֲלֶ֑נָּה

לֹֽא

knew

יָדַ֣ע

And the angel

מַלְאַ֥ךְ

What is thy name

שְׁמֶ֑ךָ

 

כִּֽי

come to pass

that when thy sayings

דְבָֽרְיךָ֖

we may do thee honour

וְכִבַּדְנֽוּךָ׃

said

וַיֹּ֤אמֶר

 

לוֹ֙

And the angel

מַלְאַ֣ךְ

of the LORD

יְהוָ֔ה

 

לָ֥מָּה

 

זֶּ֖ה

unto him Why askest

תִּשְׁאַ֣ל

thou thus after my name

לִשְׁמִ֑י

 

וְהוּא

seeing it is secret

פֶֽלִאי׃

took

וַיִּקַּ֨ח

So Manoah

וּמָנ֥וֹחַ

 

אֶת

a kid

גְּדִ֤י

 

הָֽעִזִּים֙

 

וְאֶת

with a meat offering

הַמִּנְחָ֔ה

and offered

וַיַּ֥עַל

 

עַל

it upon a rock

הַצּ֖וּר

unto the LORD

לַֽיהוָ֑ה

wondrously

וּמַפְלִ֣א

and the angel did

לַֽעֲשׂ֔וֹת

So Manoah

וּמָנ֥וֹחַ

and his wife

וְאִשְׁתּ֖וֹ

looked on

רֹאִֽים׃

 

וַיְהִי֩

ascended

וַיַּ֥עַל

For it came to pass when the flame

בְּלַ֣הַב

 

מֵעַ֤ל

from off the altar

הַמִּזְבֵּ֑חַ

toward heaven

הַשָּׁמַ֔יְמָה

ascended

וַיַּ֥עַל

that the angel

מַלְאַךְ

of the LORD

יְהוָ֖ה

For it came to pass when the flame

בְּלַ֣הַב

from off the altar

הַמִּזְבֵּ֑חַ

And Manoah

וּמָנ֤וֹחַ

and his wife

וְאִשְׁתּוֹ֙

looked on

רֹאִ֔ים

it and fell on

וַיִּפְּל֥וּ

 

עַל

their faces

פְּנֵיהֶ֖ם

to the ground

אָֽרְצָה׃

 

וְלֹא

did no more

יָ֤סַף

 

עוֹד֙

But the angel

מַלְאַ֥ךְ

of the LORD

יְהוָ֖ה

appear

לְהֵֽרָאֹ֖ה

 

אֶל

Then Manoah

מָנ֔וֹחַ

 

וְאֶל

and to his wife

אִשְׁתּ֑וֹ

knew

יָדַ֣ע

Then Manoah

מָנ֔וֹחַ

 

כִּֽי

But the angel

מַלְאַ֥ךְ

of the LORD

יְהוָ֖ה

 

הֽוּא׃

said

וַיֹּ֧אמֶר

And Manoah

מָנ֛וֹחַ

 

אֶל

unto his wife

אִשְׁתּ֖וֹ

We shall surely

נָמ֑וּת

We shall surely

נָמ֑וּת

 

כִּ֥י

God

אֱלֹהִ֖ים

because we have seen

רָאִֽינוּ׃

said

וַתֹּ֧אמֶר

 

ל֣וֹ

But his wife

אִשְׁתּ֗וֹ

unto him If

לוּ֩

were pleased

חָפֵ֨ץ

the LORD

יְהוָ֤ה

to kill

לַֽהֲמִיתֵ֙נוּ֙

 

לֹֽא

us he would not have received

לָקַ֤ח

at our hands

מִיָּדֵ֙נוּ֙

a burnt offering

עֹלָ֣ה

and a meat offering

וּמִנְחָ֔ה

 

וְלֹ֥א

neither would he have shewed

הֶרְאָ֖נוּ

 

אֶת

 

כָּל

 

אֵ֑לֶּה

us all these things nor would as at this time

וְכָעֵ֕ת

 

לֹ֥א

have told

הִשְׁמִיעָ֖נוּ

us such things as these

כָּזֹֽאת׃

bare

וַתֵּ֤לֶד

And the woman

הָֽאִשָּׁה֙

a son

בֵּ֔ן

and called

וַתִּקְרָ֥א

 

אֶת

his name

שְׁמ֖וֹ

Samson

שִׁמְשׁ֑וֹן

grew

וַיִּגְדַּ֣ל

and the child

הַנַּ֔עַר

blessed

וַֽיְבָרְכֵ֖הוּ

and the LORD

יְהוָֽה׃

began

וַתָּ֙חֶל֙

And the Spirit

ר֣וּחַ

of the LORD

יְהוָ֔ה

to move him at times

לְפַֽעֲמ֖וֹ

in the camp

בְּמַֽחֲנֵה

of Dan

דָ֑ן

 

בֵּ֥ין

between Zorah

צָרְעָ֖ה

 

וּבֵ֥ין

and Eshtaol

אֶשְׁתָּאֹֽל׃
