וַיֹּ֣אמֶר

And Elisha

אֱלִישָׁ֔ע

liveth

וְחֵֽי

here I pray thee for the LORD

יְהוָ֥ה

liveth

וְחֵֽי

and as thy soul

נַפְשְׁךָ֖

 

אִם

I will not leave

אֶֽעֶזְבֶ֑ךָּ

thee So they went down

וַיֵּֽרְד֖וּ

 

בֵּֽית

me to Bethel

אֵֽל׃

came forth

וַיֵּֽצְא֨וּ

And the sons

בְנֵֽי

of the prophets

הַנְּבִיאִ֥ים

 

אֲשֶׁר

 

בֵּֽית

that were at Bethel

אֵל֮

 

אֶל

to Elisha

אֱלִישָׁע֒

And he said

וַיֹּ֛אמֶר

 

אֵלָ֔יו

Yea I know

יָדַ֖עְתִּי

 

כִּ֣י

to day

הַיּ֗וֹם

thou that the LORD

יְהוָ֛ה

will take away

לֹקֵ֥חַ

 

אֶת

thy master

אֲדֹנֶ֖יךָ

 

מֵעַ֣ל

from thy head

רֹאשֶׁ֑ךָ

And he said

וַיֹּ֛אמֶר

 

גַּם

 

אֲנִ֥י

Yea I know

יָדַ֖עְתִּי

it hold ye your peace

הֶֽחֱשֽׁוּ׃

And he said

וַיֹּ֕אמֶר

 

ל֨וֹ

And Elijah

אֵֽלִיָּ֜הוּ

unto him Elisha

אֱלִישָׁ֣ע׀

tarry

שֵֽׁב

כִּ֤י

As the LORD

יְהוָ֥ה

hath sent

שְׁלָחַ֣נִי

me to Jericho

יְרִיחֽוֹ׃

And he said

וַיֹּ֕אמֶר

liveth

וְחֵֽי

As the LORD

יְהוָ֥ה

liveth

וְחֵֽי

and as thy soul

נַפְשְׁךָ֖

 

אִם

I will not leave

אֶֽעֶזְבֶ֑ךָּ

thee So they came

וַיָּבֹ֖אוּ

me to Jericho

יְרִיחֽוֹ׃

וַיִּגְּשׁ֨וּ

And he answered

Yea I know

יָדַ֖עְתִּי

וַיִּקַּח֩

And Elijah

אֵֽלִיָּ֨הוּ

his mantle

אַדַּרְתּ֤וֹ

and wrapped it together

וַיִּגְלֹם֙

and smote

וַיַּכֶּ֣ה

 

אֶת

the waters

הַמַּ֔יִם

and they were divided

וַיֵּֽחָצ֖וּ

 

הֵ֣נָּה

 

וָהֵ֑נָּה

went over

וַיַּֽעַבְר֥וּ

hither and thither so that they two

שְׁנֵיהֶ֖ם

on dry

בֶּחָֽרָבָֽה׃

 

וַיְהִ֣י

And it came to pass when they were gone over

כְעָבְרָ֗ם

that Elijah

וְאֵ֨לִיָּ֜הוּ

said

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר

what I shall do

Thou hast asked

nevertheless if thou see

תִּרְאֶ֨ה

me when I am taken

And it came to pass as they still

הָלוֹךְ֙

וְדַבֵּ֔ר

that behold there appeared a chariot

רֶֽכֶב

of fire

אֵ֔שׁ

and horses

וְס֣וּסֵי

of fire

and parted

וַיַּפְרִ֖דוּ

them both

שְׁנֵיהֶ֑ם

went up

וַיַּ֙עַל֙

and Elijah

אֵ֣לִיָּ֔הוּ

by a whirlwind

And Elisha

וַֽיַּחֲזֵק֙

of his own clothes

בִּבְגָדָ֔יו

and rent

וַיִּקְרָעֵ֖ם

them in two

וַיָּ֙רֶם֙

also the mantle

אַדֶּ֣רֶת

of Elijah

And he said

unto him Behold now there be

חֲמִשִּׁ֨ים

יֵ֣לְכוּ

 

נָא֮

we pray thee and seek

וִֽיבַקְשׁ֣וּ

 

אֶת

thy master

אֲדֹנֶיךָ֒

 

פֶּן

hath taken him up

נְשָׂאוֹ֙

lest peradventure the Spirit

of the LORD

and cast

him upon some

And he said

וַיֹּ֖אמֶר

 

לֹ֥א

Ye shall not send

תִשְׁלָֽחוּ׃

And when they urged

וַיִּפְצְרוּ

 

ב֥וֹ

 

עַד

him till he was ashamed

בֹּ֖שׁ

he said

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר

Send

וַֽיִּשְׁלְחוּ֙

Send

וַֽיִּשְׁלְחוּ֙

therefore fifty

חֲמִשִּׁ֣ים

men

אִ֔ישׁ

and they sought

וַיְבַקְשׁ֥וּ

three

שְׁלֹשָֽׁה

days

יָמִ֖ים

 

וְלֹ֥א

but found

מְצָאֻֽהוּ׃

And when they came again

וַיָּשֻׁ֣בוּ

 

אֵלָ֔יו

to him (for he tarried

he said

אָמַ֥רְתִּי

 

אֲלֵהֶ֔ם

תֵּלֵֽכוּ׃

said

וַיֹּ֨אמְר֜וּ

נָ֞א

Behold I pray thee the situation

מוֹשַׁ֤ב

הָעִיר֙

is pleasant

כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֥ר

as my lord

אֲדֹנִ֖י

seeth

רֹאֶ֑ה

but the water

וְהַמַּ֥יִם

is naught

רָעִ֖ים

and the ground

וְהָאָ֥רֶץ

barren

מְשַׁכָּֽלֶת׃

And he said

וַיֹּ֗אמֶר

Bring

וַיִּקְח֖וּ

 

לִי֙

cruse

צְלֹחִ֣ית

me a new

חֲדָשָׁ֔ה

and put

וְשִׂ֥ימוּ

 

שָׁ֖ם

salt

מֶ֑לַח

Bring

וַיִּקְח֖וּ

 

אֵלָֽיו׃

And he went forth

וַיֵּצֵא֙

 

אֶל

unto the spring

מוֹצָ֣א

of the waters

לַמַּ֣יִם

and cast

וַיַּשְׁלֶךְ

 

שָׁ֖ם

the salt

מֶ֑לַח

Thus saith

אָמַ֣ר

the LORD

I have healed

רִפִּ֙אתִי֙

of the waters

לֹֽא

מִשָּׁ֛ם

 

ע֖וֹד

there shall not be from thence any more death

מָ֥וֶת

or barren

וּמְשַׁכָּֽלֶת׃

were healed

וַיֵּֽרָפ֣וּ

So the waters

הַמַּ֔יִם

 

עַ֖ד

unto this day

הַיּ֣וֹם

 

הַזֶּ֑ה

according to the saying

כִּדְבַ֥ר

of Elisha

אֱלִישָׁ֖ע

which he spake

And he went up

from thence unto Bethel

And there came forth

וַתֵּצֶ֨אנָה
