And the woman

and did

וַתַּ֕עַשׂ

after the saying

כִּדְבַ֖ר

of the man

הָֽאֱלֹהִ֑ים

 

וַתֵּ֤לֶךְ

 

הִיא֙

with her household

וּבֵיתָ֔הּ

and sojourned

וַתָּ֥גָר

in the land

בְּאֶֽרֶץ

of the Philistines

פְּלִשְׁתִּ֖ים

וַיְהִ֗י

And it came to pass at the seven

שֶׁ֣בַע

שָׁנִ֔ים

returned

וַתָּ֥שָׁב

that the woman

הָֽאִשָּׁ֖ה

out of the land

מֵאֶ֣רֶץ

of the Philistines

פְּלִשְׁתִּ֑ים

and she went forth

וַתֵּצֵא֙

to cry

לִצְעֹ֣ק

 

אֶל

unto the king

הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ

 

אֶל

for her house

בֵּיתָ֖הּ

 

וְאֶל

and for her land

שָׂדָֽהּ׃

And the king

וְהַמֶּ֗לֶךְ

talked

מְדַבֵּר֙

 

אֶל

with Gehazi

גֵּ֣חֲזִ֔י

the servant

נַ֥עַר

of the man

אִישׁ

of God

הָֽאֱלֹהִ֖ים

saying

לֵאמֹ֑ר

And it came to pass as he was telling

מְסַפֵּ֣ר

O king

הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ

 

אֵ֣ת

 

אֲשֶׁר

he had restored to life

הֶֽחֱיָ֥ה

 

אֶת

a dead body

הַמֵּת֒

 

וְהִנֵּ֨ה

that behold the woman

הָֽאִשָּׁ֔ה

 

אֲשֶׁר

he had restored to life

הֶֽחֱיָ֥ה

 

אֶת

and this is her son

בְּנָ֖הּ

cried

צֹעֶ֣קֶת

 

אֶל

O king

הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ

 

עַל

for her house

בֵּיתָ֖הּ

 

וְעַל

and for her land

שָׂדָ֑הּ

said

וַיֹּ֤אמֶר

And Gehazi

גֵּֽחֲזִי֙

My lord

אֲדֹנִ֣י

O king

הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ

and this is her son

בְּנָ֖הּ

 

אֲשֶׁר

he had restored to life

הֶֽחֱיָ֥ה

whom Elisha

וַיִּשְׁאַ֥ל

And when the king

הַמֶּלֶךְ֩

the woman

לָֽאִשָּׁ֖ה

she told

וַתְּסַפֶּר

וַיִּתֶּן

And when the king

הַמֶּלֶךְ֩

officer

סָרִ֨יס

unto her a certain

אֶחָ֜ד

saying

לֵאמֹ֗ר

Restore

הָשֵׁ֤יב

 

אֶת

 

כָּל

 

אֲשֶׁר

 

לָהּ֙

 

וְאֵת֙

 

כָּל

all that was hers and all the fruits

תְּבוּאֹ֣ת

of the field

הַשָּׂדֶ֔ה

since the day

מִיּ֛וֹם

that she left

עָזְבָ֥ה

 

אֶת

the land

הָאָ֖רֶץ

 

וְעַד

 

עָֽתָּה׃

came

בָּ֛א

And Elisha

אֱלִישָׁע֙

to Damascus

דַּמֶּ֔שֶׂק

 

וּבֶן

and Benhadad

הֲדַ֥ד

the king

מֶֽלֶךְ

of Syria

אֲרָ֖ם

was sick

חֹלֶ֑ה

and it was told

וַיֻּגַּד

 

ל֣וֹ

him saying

לֵאמֹ֔ר

בָּ֛א

The man

אִ֥ישׁ

of God

הָֽאֱלֹהִ֖ים

 

עַד

hither

הֵֽנָּה׃

by him saying

לֵאמֹ֔ר

And the king

הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ

 

אֶל

unto Hazael

חֲזָהאֵ֗ל

Take

קַ֤ח

in thine hand

בְּיָֽדְךָ֙

a present

מִנְחָ֔ה

 

וְלֵ֕ךְ

meet

לִקְרַ֖את

the man

אִ֣ישׁ

of God

הָֽאֱלֹהִ֑ים

and enquire

וְדָֽרַשְׁתָּ֙

 

אֶת

of the LORD

יְהוָ֤ה

 

מֵֽאוֹתוֹ֙

by him saying

לֵאמֹ֔ר

Shall I recover

הַאֶֽחְיֶ֖ה

of this disease

מֵֽחֳלִ֥י

 

זֶֽה׃

 

וַיֵּ֣לֶךְ

So Hazael

חֲזָאֵל֮

to meet

לִקְרָאתוֹ֒

him and took

וַיִּקַּ֨ח

a present

מִנְחָ֤ה

with him

בְיָדוֹ֙

 

וְכָל

even of every good thing

ט֣וּב

of Damascus

דַּמֶּ֔שֶׂק

burden

מַשָּׂ֖א

forty

אַרְבָּעִ֣ים

camels

גָּמָ֑ל

and came

וַיָּבֹא֙

and stood

וַיַּֽעֲמֹ֣ד

before

לְפָנָ֔יו

him and said

לֵאמֹ֔ר

Thy son

בִּנְךָ֙

אֲרָם֙

שְׁלָחַ֤נִי

Shall I recover

הַאֶֽחְיֶ֖ה

of this disease

And Elisha

until he was ashamed

וַיֵּ֖בְךְּ

and the man

אִ֥ישׁ

הָֽאֱלֹהִֽים׃

And he answered

וַיֹּ֡אמֶר

And Hazael

חֲזָאֵ֔ל

 

מַדּ֖וּעַ

my lord

אֲדֹנִ֣י

Why weepeth

בֹכֶ֑ה

And he answered

וַיֹּ֡אמֶר

 

כִּֽי

Because I know

יָדַ֡עְתִּי

 

אֵ֣ת

 

אֲשֶׁר

that thou wilt do

תַּֽעֲשֶׂה֩

unto the children

לִבְנֵ֨י

of Israel

יִשְׂרָאֵ֜ל

the evil

רָעָ֗ה

their strong holds

מִבְצְרֵיהֶ֞ם

wilt thou set

תְּשַׁלַּ֤ח

on fire

בָּאֵשׁ֙

and their young men

וּבַחֻֽרֵיהֶם֙

with the sword

בַּחֶ֣רֶב

wilt thou slay

תַּֽהֲרֹ֔ג

their children

וְעֹֽלְלֵיהֶ֣ם

and wilt dash

תְּרַטֵּ֔שׁ

their women with child

וְהָרֹֽתֵיהֶ֖ם

and rip up

תְּבַקֵּֽעַ׃

answered

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר

And Hazael

חֲזָהאֵ֔ל

 

כִּ֣י

 

מָ֤ה

But what is thy servant

עַבְדְּךָ֙

a dog

הַכֶּ֔לֶב

 

כִּ֣י

that he should do

יַֽעֲשֶׂ֔ה

הַדָּבָ֥ר

this great

הַגָּד֖וֹל

 

הַזֶּ֑ה

answered

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר

And Elisha

הִרְאַ֧נִי

The LORD

me that thou shalt be king

over Syria

a thick cloth

הַמַּכְבֵּר֙

and dipped

וַיִּטְבֹּ֣ל

it in water

בַּמַּ֔יִם

and spread

וַיִּפְרֹ֥שׂ

 

עַל

it on his face

פָּנָ֖יו

so that he died

וַיָּמֹ֑ת

reigned

וַיִּמְלֹ֥ךְ

and Hazael

חֲזָהאֵ֖ל

with him and he rose

לַ֗יְלָה

and smote

וַיַּכֶּ֨ה

and the captains

and all the chariots
