and have taken

strange

נָכְרִיּ֖וֹת

of the people

מֵֽעַמֵּ֣י

of the land

הָאָ֑רֶץ

 

וְעַתָּ֛ה

yet now there is

יֵשׁ

hope

מִקְוֶ֥ה

in Israel

לְיִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל

 

עַל

 

זֹֽאת׃

 

וְעַתָּ֣ה

Now therefore let us make

נִֽכְרָת

a covenant

בְּרִ֣ית

of our God

אֱלֹהֵ֑ינוּ

to put away

לְהוֹצִ֨יא

 

כָל

all the wives

נָשִׁ֜ים

and such as are born

וְהַנּוֹלָ֤ד

 

מֵהֶם֙

of them according to the counsel

בַּֽעֲצַ֣ת

 

אֲדֹנָ֔י

and of those that tremble

וְהַֽחֲרֵדִ֖ים

at the commandment

בְּמִצְוַ֣ת

of our God

אֱלֹהֵ֑ינוּ

according to the law

וְכַתּוֹרָ֖ה

and let it be done

יֵֽעָשֶֽׂה׃

Arise

ק֛וּם

עָלֶ֥יךָ

for this matter

הַדָּבָ֖ר

 

וַֽאֲנַ֣חְנוּ

 

עִמָּ֑ךְ

belongeth unto thee we also will be with thee be of good courage

Then arose

unto all the children

that they should gather themselves together

לְהִקָּבֵ֖ץ

וְכֹל֩

 

אֲשֶׁ֨ר

 

לֹֽא

And that whosoever would not come

יָב֜וֹא

within three

לִשְׁלֹ֣שֶׁת

days

הַיָּמִ֗ים

according to the counsel

כַּֽעֲצַ֤ת

of the princes

הַשָּׂרִים֙

and the elders

וְהַזְּקֵנִ֔ים

should be forfeited

יָֽחֳרַ֖ם

all his substance

רְכוּשׁ֑וֹ

and himself separated

יִבָּדֵ֖ל

from the congregation

וְעַתָּ֗ה

Now therefore make

תְּנ֥וּ

confession

תוֹדָ֛ה

unto the LORD

לַֽיהוָ֥ה

God

אֱלֹהֵֽי

of your fathers

אֲבֹתֵיכֶ֖ם

and do

וַֽעֲשׂ֣וּ

his pleasure

רְצוֹנ֑וֹ

and separate

וְהִבָּֽדְלוּ֙

yourselves from the people

מֵֽעַמֵּ֣י

of the land

הָאָ֔רֶץ

 

וּמִן

הַנָּשִׁ֖ים

and from the strange

הַנָּכְרִיּֽוֹת׃

answered

וַיַּֽעְנ֧וּ

Then all the congregation

הַקָּהָ֛ל

and said

וַיֹּֽאמְר֖וּ

ק֣וֹל

with a loud

גָּד֑וֹל

 

כֵּ֛ן

As thou hast said

כִּדְבָרְיךָ֥

 

עָלֵ֖ינוּ

so must we do

לַֽעֲשֽׂוֹת׃

But

אֲבָ֞ל

the people

הָעָ֥ם

are many

רָב֙

and it is a time

וְהָעֵ֣ת

of much rain

גְּשָׁמִ֔ים

 

וְאֵ֥ין

and we are not able

כֹּ֖חַ

to stand

לַֽעֲמ֣וֹד

בַּח֑וּץ

neither is this a work

וְהַמְּלָאכָ֗ה

for we are many
