in a dream

בַּֽחֲל֣וֹם

הַלָּ֑יְלָה

and said

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר

הִנְּךָ֥

to him Behold thou art but a dead man

מֵת֙

 

עַל

for the woman

הָֽאִשָּׁ֣ה

 

אֲשֶׁר

which thou hast taken

לָקַ֔חְתָּ

 

וְהִ֖וא

wife

בְּעֻ֥לַת

for she is a man's

בָּֽעַל׃

But Abimelech

וַֽאֲבִימֶ֕לֶךְ

 

לֹ֥א

had not come near

קָרַ֖ב

 

אֵלֶ֑יהָ

her and he said

וַיֹּאמַ֕ר

Lord

אֲדֹנָ֕י

nation

הֲג֥וֹי

 

גַּם

also a righteous

צַדִּ֖יק

wilt thou slay

תַּֽהֲרֹֽג׃

 

הֲלֹ֨א

and she

ה֑וּא

Said

אָֽמְרָ֖ה

 

לִי֙

is my sister

אֲחֹ֣תִי

and she

ה֑וּא

ה֑וּא

even

גַם

and she

ה֑וּא

Said

אָֽמְרָ֖ה

He is my brother

אָחִ֣י

in the integrity

unto him in a dream

יָדַ֙עְתִּי֙

of thy heart

לְבָֽבְךָ֙

that thou didst

עָשִׂ֣יתָ

for I also withheld

וָֽאֶחְשֹׂ֧ךְ

אָֽנֹכִ֛י

 

אֽוֹתְךָ֖

thee from sinning

מֵֽחֲטוֹ

 

לִ֑י

 

עַל

 

כֵּ֥ן

 

לֹֽא

against me therefore suffered

נְתַתִּ֖יךָ

I thee not to touch

לִנְגֹּ֥עַ

 

אֵלֶֽיהָ׃

וַיְדַבֵּ֛ר

all these things

הַדְּבָרִ֥ים

 

הָאֵ֖לֶּה

in their ears

בְּאָזְנֵיהֶ֑ם

afraid

וַיִּֽירְא֥וּ

 

הָֽאֲנָשִׁ֖ים

were sore

מְאֹֽד׃

וַיִּקְרָ֨א

Then Abimelech

אֲבִימֶ֜לֶךְ

Abraham

לְאַבְרָהָ֗ם

and said

וַיֹּ֨אמֶר

thou hast done

עָשִׂ֖יתָ

 

לָּ֙נוּ֙

 

וּמֶֽה

unto us and what have I offended

חָטָ֣אתִי

 

לָ֔ךְ

thee that thou hast brought

הֵבֵ֧אתָ

 

עָלַ֛י

 

וְעַל

on me and on my kingdom

מַמְלַכְתִּ֖י

חֲטָאָ֣ה

גְדֹלָ֑ה

Because I thought

Surely

the fear

יִרְאַ֣ת

of God

אֱלֹהִ֔ים

is not in this place

בַּמָּק֖וֹם

 

הַזֶּ֑ה

and they will slay me

וַֽהֲרָג֖וּנִי

 

עַל

sake

דְּבַ֥ר

for my wife's

אִשְׁתִּֽי׃

 

וְגַם

And yet indeed

אָמְנָ֗ה

she is my sister

whither we shall come

And Abimelech

וַיִּתֵּ֖ן

them unto Abraham

שָׂרָ֥ה

אִשְׁתּֽוֹ׃

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר

And Abimelech

אֲבִימֶ֔לֶךְ

 

הִנֵּ֥ה

Behold my land

אַרְצִ֖י

is before thee

לְפָנֶ֑יךָ

where it pleaseth

בַּטּ֥וֹב

 

בְּעֵינֶ֖יךָ

dwell

שֵֽׁב׃

And unto Sarah

וּלְשָׂרָ֣ה

he said

אָמַ֗ר

 

הִנֵּ֨ה

Behold I have given

נָתַ֜תִּי

a thousand

אֶ֤לֶף

pieces of silver

כֶּ֙סֶף֙

thy brother

לְאָחִ֔יךְ

 

הִנֵּ֤ה

 

הוּא

 

לָךְ֙

behold he is to thee a covering

כְּס֣וּת

of the eyes

עֵינַ֔יִם

 

לְכֹ֖ל

 

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

 

אִתָּ֑ךְ

 

וְאֵ֥ת

 

כֹּ֖ל

unto all that are with thee and with all other thus she was reproved

וְנֹכָֽחַת׃

וַיִּתְפַּלֵּ֥ל

So Abraham

וַיִּרְפָּ֨א

and they bare

וַיֵּלֵֽדוּ׃
